God if they could bottle this and sell it, I'd be a' Seekersholic' in no time! Fantastic stuff. Judith Durham's voice is fantastic-she should be placed on the endangered species list IE A female vocalist who can ACTUALLY SING!
I think there's an angel on that stage. She sounds like one, she's dressed like one and she has a magical way of making me feel completely safe and happy.
I shall always be grateful for the fact that i was a teenager in the 60,s. It wasn't all Beatles and Stones. The Beach Boys had their exciting California sounds and close harmony groups like the Seekers were a joy to listen to. To add to that, Elvis and the Everlies were still making great records. Is it any wonder we grew up full of optimism.
God, I love this song. Love this Group. I sang this song every day to my children when they were 3 - 5 to help them go to sleep. Now of course, I sing this to their children who are now 3 - 5. So the cycle completes its circle. Pure, unspoilt, un-commercialized group. Thanks.
Listening to this takes me back to when our daughter was about three years old, we bought her the single and she loved it. We played it so often you could see through it. Many thanks.
Every one of them still does as good a job singing even tho I sure hardly thing of it being a job, I am sure it is fun as well or at least it appears they have fun and I sure had fun when it was me up there.Sylk
My aunt sent this to me when My mom came to visit me in Alberta and boy did it bring tears when I knew she was comming from Nfld to vist me in Alberta which is a long plaane ride but felt good to have her visit
I was only 4 when my dad got transferred to Australia for work. I remember my parents listening to this record all the time. Now I'm 45 and sing his song to my little 4 year old before bedtime....guitar and all!
Thank you for sharing and posting this beautiful song...brings back a lot of good memories of my childhood when mom and dad were here..they were both musically gifted and they would sing this song to us kids before bedtime. brought tears to my eyes...once again i thank you for revivng my memories...God bless
Awesome!,,,listen, my friends...if you ever see a comment removed by me...it's not because I used obscenities...but rather because I check my posts every now and then and if nobody replies I simply don't want to waste folk's time reading my comments...Judith...Seekers...bless all of you...Tunesmith
OMG Im crying I remember this so well ...was my favourite song at age 5!! OMG! I always felt this was my safe song to go to sleep to;...About going on a warm safe snug journey being rocked to sleep by the lulling 'rocking rolling riding' motion of the carriage of a magical train heading for 'Morningtown ...many miles away'!...
Such a lovely nurturing song that bring back these wonderful memories,..I have tears streaming down my face! lol
What a *beautiful* performance by a terrific lead singer and group -- love 'em to pieces for all that they've given us -- and such memories they evoke...
@lardarsedmanc - a treasured memory of hearing this playing on the R.B.C. (indeed - almost as on cue !!) as the overnight mail train - Salisbury - Umtali (Rhodesia) pulled out of the staion that evening all those many, many years ago - yes, what a truly treasured chilhood memory !!
These are proper musicians that is the reson they are an enduring prescence on the world. They were not manufactured to make their handlers lots of money they sung because they enjoyed it and enjoyed sharing their gift with us. Many Many thanks to them for this
Pure heaven! Judith is an angel and the guys are magnificent as well. Brings back so many good memories of my youth. Australia's gift to the rest of the world.
My father worked on R.R. and he loved this song - I guess it influenced his son! becuase I do as well. This lady has such a lovely, distintive, angelic voice - not unlike the plastic wananbees turned out in the X factory production line today.
