  • That was my exact reading experience... my goodness. 100% agreed.

  • @effervescentspirit I think I'm gonna read the next one. Even with the romance in the middle I liked the other parts of the book too much.

  • @SableCaught Agreed. I'm still looking forward to the next. The world Taylor painted was entirely original! I posted a review on Goodreads if you are interested, you just accepted my request (: I did not like Akiva, at all, and the part where she finds out who she is, while interesting, was just way too corny for me. I understand the scene was probably difficult, but ugh. The beginning was so fascinating thought.

  • I really liked the graph, it's a brilliant idea! XD

  • @lostteen08 I might have to do a video at some just with loads of books graphed. Saying that, even though I vaguely knew what I wanted that one to look like it was rather hard to draw ...maybe next time I shouldn't use paint. XP

  • @SableCaught It looked professional! Lol =]

  • @lostteen08 I'll need to buy me so graph paper! Then I can hand plot them! XP

  • I had to read this book after watching this video and I loved it, I never wanted it to end!! it took me all of two days to read this book. I didn't mind the romance because I felt that it gave a beautiful picture of Akiva and Madrigal's world.

  • @ChristinaRachel123 I still say I didn't like the romance however the more time goes by the more I realise I continue to dwell on that world, those characters, I really actually can't wait for the second!

  • The hugest problem I had with this book is that the memories were so abruptly presented that you could barely see the difference between the past and present. Although, about 30% of the way through I grew to expect it. I do not think your graph is entirely accurate, however. The romance section (Korou and Akiva, not Madrigal and Akiva) was not nearly that big. My favorite part was Madrigal, but the twist at the end was not very surprising. I loved almost all of the characters. MYMINIREVIEW

  • im on page 123, and LOVING IT!!! im dreading the following chapters however. i really want to love this book, but from your description, idk...

  • hehe, so agree with you on the romance thing, sometimes it's just not right. But I haven't read the book and now am torn, whether I should.

  • @1book1review You definitely should! I loved this book, and while I agree about the middle section of it, I think the rest of the book was brilliant. Plus Laini Taylor's style of writing definitely makes it worth reading.

  • @StaticOnUrFrequency This is so difficult to decide as there are so many different reviews, I guess I just have to wait till I'm allowed to buy books again and read it for myself!

  • lmao, more graph based reviews please!

  • @7h3p1930n I should do a really intense one where I plot my feelings at the end of every chapter, or every page! XP

  • Love your reviews, but have to disagree with your graph...the wiggly line should wiggle in a reasonably straight fashion. I'm usually against gratuitous use if gushy romance in books, but I loved it in this one. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy!!! You want really puke inducing romance? Try Eden by Keary Taylor...actually don't it's awful and made me wish I was illiterate!!!

  • @gingerboufTV Haha, I agree that in every other sense this was a fantastic book, just yeah, the roamnce in this one didn't do it for me. I feel like I haven't read a story with a good romance for ages. You can't recommend me a good romance can you?

  • @SableCaught Egads now there's a question. I guess it depends on the kind of romance you like. I personally love the slow burners that take ages to develop but when they finally go for it, you end up fist pumping the air and crying 'hellz yeah!!!' >.< If you don't mind a bit of fantasy I would recommend Poison Study or the Demon Child Trilogy. Both fab stories in their own right but with some great romances thrown in for good measure!!!! Ahhhh the pressure!!!

  • @gingerboufTV No, I love slow burners too. I donno if it was because I read His Dark Materials when I was really young and so wasn't looking for it, or if it was just really well orchestrated by Lyra and Will!

And fantasy is always good (definitely my favourite genre!) in fact I have Poison Study on my 'to read' shelf, I obviously need to hurry up and get round to it.

  • I saw this book in our bookstore today but your graph came into my head and I said....ummm library book.

  • @Nosaltypeanut haha, ask them if they'll give ou a discount if you take just the beginning and the end? : P

  • "My reading experience kind of felt violated." Love it!

  • You need a jack infograph

  • @magnum93954 A jack infograph?

  • @SableCaught

Mr ARRR, if you gets what I mean.

  • @magnum93954 ...no idea.

  • Did you really graph this or did you just draw an axis and then put it a wiggly line approximate to your reaction? Just want to know how scientific you really were here?

  • @Chell532007 Nah I just drew a wiggly line I'm afraid.

  • @SableCaught I suspected as much ;-)

  • I actually totally agree with you about the middle. The cliched way the romance was developed felt really out of place among all the other, more original ideas and, for me, it disrupted the flow of the book. Even the bits about the romance in the past felt more natural to the story than the initial romance. Definitely hope it gets better though, as this was probably one of the more unique uses of angels/demons I've seen as of late :)

  • @EggplantsandTeacups Yeah, I didn't mind the back in time romance so much, and I don't think I would have minded the renewed romance if I'd felt it was convincing, but it just happened way too fast and way too unrealistically.

  • Amazing video as always, :) I don't know how but your videos always seem to motivate me to do more work ^^

  • @monkofdark123 Haha, that's ironic considering that me making them is generally procrastinating from the work I'm meant to be doing XP

  • Graphs make everything better! I don't mind dips in quality if they are brief but one that long looks unbearably long!

  • @MrSirPopey I'm hoping the next one will leave the romance now and just be awesome like the beginning and end of this one were.

  • I've heard a lot of people don't like the middle, for the romance. :)

  • @TheMetalheadBookworm Oh good, a friend of mine read it and thought the romance was fine and I was beginning to think I was crazy XP

  • First view and Comment :D Hi Stevie, I just started to read A Game of Thrones, The A Song of Fire and Ice series. Have you read it? Is it any good, I'm only 14 but I think it is good so far! And great video as always :D:D

  • @Jordanificationily I /love/ The Song of Fire and Ice series. I just finished Storm of Swords and Feast for Crows is sitting on my desk begging me to read it but I have so much work I'm meant to be doing XP

    Also although I love it, George RR Martin has a horrible habit of really making you love a character and then killing them ;___;

Actually look through my old videos, I have one on Game of Thrones!
