  • It seems some people missed the whole message. It is a song about being strong through adversity. " You can beat me, but you'll never beat me." It's about being abused but surviving. No longer being weak. I think children should be taught they can overcome anything. Though they should never have to.

  • when he says turned my whole red does he mean split his forhead open blood goes in his eyes or does he mean it made in so mad when his step daddy smashed sister that he saw red? cuz they makes a huge difference

  • I've always been curious, what does "smashed my sister" mean, exactly?

  • @seriousbusiness47 Most likely as in "smashed my mirror". As in beat her bloody, I don't see how it could really have any other meaning Oo

  • @seriousbusiness47 uhmm well the slang version of smashed is to have sex with. so i assume he means that his dad raped his sister

  • @seriousbusiness47 he raped her

  • Great tune and one we should all take from - It's how we all were treated... We should all take something from this... Whether you accept you're the child/sibling or the selfish bastard... Either way_ TUNE!!!

  • a toe tappin child beatin hell of a time.

  • "you can beat me, but you'll never beat me!", think that somes it up for a lot of us

  • It feels so wrong that I'm tapping my feet to this :|

  • Also this is one of the catchiest fucking songs ever. I started singing it at school and my teacher was like "WTF?"

  • My childhood put into song.

  • Swing me, baby ! Couldn't luv this band more !

  • Luv Luv Luv their music !

  • The Cherry Poppin' Daddies did not want to be known primarily as a swing band, and they didn't want to be known just as a "retro" band. One thing that sets them apart than old-fashioned swing is their lyrics often deal with important subjects in society, and this song is a good example.

  • I haul the burden for the high and mighty

But I'm the top hat Devil's son

I got the luck of the drunk, try an' nail me

I'm the bullseye - aim you gun

How many parents like knowing their kids lyrics on their songs have violence in it?

  • @duvexy Your trolling would work better if your profile page wasn't littered with heavy metal videos.

  • @Skibz778 I don't consider my self to be trolling. If you want to pretend those lyrics don't exist fine by me.

  • buenissima rola!!1

  • Whats wrong with thinking that this is cool is the fact that it nudges the reality of a naive young person to believe that good is bad and bad is good. You know like how Dexter is just cool. A great show. But, he is serial killer. It is taboo because it paints a distorted picture of reality.

  • @duvexy I guess, but the music isn't meant for a "naive young person" imo though. I don't think there's anything about this song endorsing child abuse, are you referring to something specific? If this song were pro-child abuse (I've never heard of a song in support of it...), then I would agree with what you're saying.

  • @Tricto380 If you look up the lyrics lyricsfreak doht com you read it where the chorus sings drunk daddy broke my fingers drunk daddy kicked my head. Drunk daddy smashed my sister turned my whole world red. I don't know about anyone else but, I feel that kids deserve to innocent as long as they can be. I don't like the lyrics they are awful and if kids like the beat and do not look up the lyrics they will one day wake up and wonder how they became aggressive.

  • @duvexy Wow..You're an idiot. first of all, anyone with a third grade education can tell what the singer is saying without the lyrics. This isn't rap or metal where the vocals are incoherent. The words are right out there in the open. This song is about the real world, and what happens in it. If you don't want your kids to know about the real world, lock them in the basement. Oh wait, that ALSO is child abuse. Idiot. Music doesn't make people aggresive. Not even heavy metal music does that.

  • @dontyoudaredestroy Did you get bored and decide to comment on a post from last week? You are just a blow hard. Get over yourself. I have bigger fish to fry besides dealing with your whiney comment You know like trying to save people in Japan.

  • @duvexy Yeah, I'd be backpedaling too if I were you. Japan is used to earthquakes, they can take care of themselves.

  • @dontyoudaredestroy What is it what I have to backpedal on? I have done nothing wrong. Leave me alone. I am an ill person and I don't need you making stuff up on the internet here that are not true. I am sure they can take care of themselves. It is always good to know that others have good will in their hearts towards you. If you can not stop and desist your mad ravings in regards to me

  • @duvexy What? You don't even make any sense.

  • Get the audio from this vid at thetunify doht cohm.

  • You are all stupid...his dad's drunk...you are talking about completely different shit...disciplining while intoxicated is bad. end of story.

  • Disgusting. Pretty soon some kids will think this is cool too. :(

  • @duvexy Haha, what's wrong with anyone thinking this is cool? It's a great song, and it's about something that's downplayed a lot in society because it's "taboo".

Classic band and album to me.

  • musica con arte hey novato en el genero, pero igualy me uno para sugerir

  • ... Does ANYONE else think this is just about a drunken brawl?

  • @AllarysDanyaela Who cares listen to the music!!! :)

  • i saw the daddys in concert at the fillmore in san francisco...one of the best concerts i have ever seen...........awesome show...

  • i feel so badass doing the charleston to this

  • I love to swing.

  • awesome !!!! i just simply LOVE them !!!!

  • It is just a song leave it at that. It is not a cry out for hitting kids. So, I am asking is why is their this thing going on in the comments about how hitting is bad.

I know to some extent you should spank but, not beet your child.

  • Some positive imagery, there! lol

  • GREAT SONG!!!

  • These comments make me sad... :/ I'm reading them and it all just shakes me... If there is love a child will grow with respect and a smile. Some people forget that...

  • @damienfeb01 Thank you.

  • Using corporal punishment without good reason is abuse. Striking a child, whether it's spanking or something more severe, as a form of aversion therapy is perfectly fine and has been used in child rearing in pretty much every culture since well before all these politically correct liberal assholes took issue with it. My dad beat the shit out of me when I was bad. I wasn't sent to my room on a time out to reflect on what I did, I was given five across the eyes.

  • this is one of my favorite songs from these guys..

  • taking tv away for som days is nice one, cause media is the one which makes your kid lazy n stuff. but spanking and stuff is just to way to you to make you the boss of the family and raises your assholenes and in the good family theres no bosses and slaves there is just the slaves. bad english sry bout that.

  • Alright, I think we need to establish that spanking and 'breaking my fingers' and 'turned my world blood red' are two VERY different things. Breaking fingers and making someone bleed is not discipline. Spanking in discipline, it can keep your children in line better than taking t.v. away for a day.

  • @14music94 Agreed. It's how I was raised and it worked out well. (The spanking part that is.) All the "breaking my fingers" and "turned my whole world blood red" is just abuse and the only thing it does is give the kid psychological issues they will never be able to get over.

  • @redhotcustoms And spanking won't traumatize children and give you psychological issues like some people like to argue.

  • @redhotcustoms

spanking always worked wit me haahaha

  • @14music94

Sure - teach your children that violence is the way to go. And hurting people is right. And If someone is stronger he must be right. Right? :)

  • @14music94 i personally think you're full of shit. my parents never spanked me, because they know if i did, i would just take an advil and GET OVER IT! if they take away my laptop i will definitely shape up

  • This is why to me, they're better than Voodoo Daddies. The subject material is darker... therefore, to me... better.

By the way, Kids can turn out like brats regardless if you treat them soft or not. This song isn't about a smack on the *ss. So, I'm surprised to see people defending the lyrics in that manner.

  • @JuMunchie I'm not defending the lyrics; I'm explaining how breaking fingers and stuff in this song is very different from spanking your children. One needs child protection services, and one doesn't.

  • I'm not disagreeing with you.

  • Amazing!

  • Very Good

  • thanks for this, it was amazing!

  • haha that part at 3:57 reminds me of the bridge in "Down with the sickness". Great song.

  • LOL I SOOO AGREE!

  • SO GOOD!

  • It's awesome. I like so much this song

  • I think that if something like that was to happen then whoever is being abused like that should definitely tell a friend they trust and not be scared it's just gonna get worse if you don't tell a good friend.

  • @0AfroFreak0 Or kill your father. A dude I knew did that.

  • so awesome, its like the song is about me...i am the drunk daddy of now

  • lmao

  • you are the one drinking and beating your children, I don't think I would be so proud of that!

    More ashamed and remoursefull

Remember, your children have no choice, they are stuck with you, treat them better than that...

  • your just jealous that yuo dont have the balls to smack your kid for being a brat. what happened to America? Spanking turned into Child Protective services? WHAT THE FUCK!? its not like im abusing them, just discipline

  • Shit, if I had kids i'd be the guy spanking them in public. Hell, they're my kids and i'm not abusing them, just disciplining. It's how I was raised and i'm doing damn good.

  • I completely agree with you. When I was a kid, I was given a sack for being naughty. I turned out just fine. There is a fine line between child abuse and discipline, which many cannot tell the difference. Go soft on kids and they turn out like little shits!

  • @StutterinG123 Parents that smack their kids just don't want to be held responsible for when their undisciplined teenagers steal from somebody. It's not as if those parents will be forced to sit and watch when years later their undisciplined adult children are given the death penalty for murdering somebody.

  • @toddw420 Your a fag... prolly a over protected parent... OMG LITTLE JOHNNY GOT DIRT ON HIS KNEEE.... BETTER CALL THE DOCTOR ...

  • @cj5jeep1 right.. not like you .. Probably a Great parent... Oh johhny got dirt on his pants, IM GONNA BEAT HIS ASS FOR IT.... You go Dirt Bag!

  • @toddw420 Naw im not a parent i just like making fun of people that are over protective =D so suck it cause you just proved my point

  • I saw them at BBKing's in New York, they were awesome

  • A definite dark tone to it, presented with a tension-releasing, upbeat rhythm & lots of passion, I LIKE IT!!! :-)

  • great band i love this music
