  • TOO MUCH fame! tHE curse!

  • The best male revenge song EVER was "Hats of to Larry"!

  • I was such a young kid when Del Shannonm shot himself. My father said it in passing that he died. I knew who he was since my father passed on the love for 50s and 60s music to me. RIP Del Shannon.

  • HOLLYWOOD fame kills people;they get used to adulation & adoration and once it's gone, the emptiness is too great to take. sigh.

  • Gone 21 years. Depressions is such a "horrible" illness!!

RIP Del. You'll always be remembered.

  • Del Shannon is the best singer I've ever heard. He will sure be gone, but never, ever forgotten. We all miss you Del!

  • it was the prozac

  • i wish he would have joined the wilburys. maybe he would still be around.

  • Somewhere in America, there's a crumbling and abandoned malt shop, or a classic car sitting on a junkheap as it slowly surrenders to time, or an old deserted drive-in movie lot.

And in these hallowed halls, Del's lonely ghost can still be heard, reminding us of another day and time when America's innocence was still intact, and Rock and Roll was king.

You are not forgotten, dear friend.

  • I still remember where I was when I heard of his passing. I was driving my car and the news channel announced his passing. I had to pull over and started to cry. I loved the music of Del Shannon. I felt I lost a friend. Your song Runaway will always be my favorite. It was the song that I started to like rock and roll. RIP my friend. You're #1 in my book.

  • @b42baritone I too remember where I was, first they played 2 songs in a row one was swiss maid, I thought that odd 2 songs in a row then they announced he was gone

  • kurt loder!!

  • What a loss...sad.

  • Little town flirt was my favorite Del song.

Your in good company now Del...RIP.

  • tom should have gave del some weed

  • 20 years ago today (2/8/90) - seems like yesterday

  • Apparently its clinical depression that kills you. I know a person who has severe clinical depression and its really hard for him and his family. Have a read about Prozak on the net! as Del was allegedly taking Prozak just before he died. RIP Great singer and song writer

  • @Transistorised it wasnt the Prozak asshole Del Shannon was depressed due to his born again bisexual boyfriend Jeff Lynne leaving him for Charles Nelson Riley.

  • @KidRockEatsSmegma Your making up nonsense look at your youtube name look at your game

  • @KidRockEatsSmegma There is not one shred of bull shit evidence to back up your claim. no one gives a shit about any weird realtionships that he might have found himself in, we remember him for the great talent that he was. Funny, how there is no written material about his being with some gay dude, which is pretty damn hard to believe. Jagoffs like you always have to find a way to take some popular star down a notch.

  • Well, "the strong" as you put it, also AVOID hard drugs, and the lure of multiple prescription drugs made to substitute for the reality of everyday life

too. You'd think they's stay away from

that poison knowing what it did to their musical peers in some cases.

But, as the saying goes, it's their life, and it's sad what some of them do with it, so I guess we just chalk this one up as another tragedy :-(

  • omg didnt know he died

  • @Shepardswatch

I didn't either. My mind must've been elsewhere...

  • del shannon,a unique voice, and style.his last, unfinished ,song called songwriter still haunts me.

  • Great entertainer. Really put everything into his work. Must have really loved his fans. So sad. RIP

  • Paul McCartney is just an illusion of feed-back. He never was anything. They used his name after John Lennon died. To live in the past.

  • I am also a great, great fan of Mr. Shannon's but I never knew that he wrote "I Go To Pieces" (no wonder I liked it so much) I thought maybe Paul McCartney might have since he wrote "A World Without Love" for Peter & Gordon and also Woman under the alias of "Bernard Webb" - thanks for posting -

  • But the birth year is wrong, it shall be 1934 for havens sake, can´t anyone get it right, caro

  • I've seen 1939 in a few other articles. Could that have started with PR from earlier in his career? I know the record companies liked to portray their "up and coming" stars as not much older than 20 in those days.

  • yes that´s right, the manager even said that he was single when in fact he was married and had three children, but they thought he might sell better if he was young and single, caro

  • Oh so tragic to see this,I cry over you,Del I love you always, caro

    Thanks for posting this.

  • i know your a big fan thanks for your comments.trying to give you something different even if it is poor quality

  • yes I´m a super-fan and I love to get just anything about him even if the quality is bad,it dose´nt matter, I´m still grateful for everything, so Thanks again for all videos, caro
