  • Subaru never stops. I have a 02 WRX. 2 cylinders and 2 pistons broke.and it still ran. My heart hurts when i have to speak about this story... :S

  • Turbo smoke.

  • those motors make power with boost but ej's are pretty shitty motors when it comes to reliability. my buddy's 07 sti burns more oil then my b16 from 1989

  • Yet I had 2 EJ22s (97, 98) that burned NO oil at all. This was a bad case but older EJs are pretty solid, especially the EJ20/22s. Turbo ECUs suck because they're programmed to keep emissions down. They run the car lean at points where it shouldn't be lean at all.

  • blown head gasket

  • @mitsuevo8mr your joking right? thats white smoke that means antifreeze that means the block cracked and coolent is getting in through the cyl wall

  • @EPzti you joking? if ur head gasket failed the same thing would happen. FUCK.

  • @borderlineartistic you joking my? friend just blew his head gasket on his sr20 240 and youll never guess what didnt happen! thats right no white smoke

  • @EPzti dude go look up blown head gasket. ive seen it so many damn times. one piston will be full of water

  • @borderlineartistic i know you can get antifreeze in the engine when you blow a head gasket but you can also blow a head gasket with out obstructing the coolent jackets but the sound is completely different

  • @borderlineartistic depends on where the head gasket fails

  • Am I sure the engine is blown? I don't see why subaru would tell me i had a cracked cylinder then replace the whole engine for free if it wasn't. SO yes, I'm pretty sure it was blown.

  • ouço algem no fim a dizer acelera?

  • that hapend with me when i change the stock exhaust to steinless steel but now its good are you shore that engine is blown?

  • 07 was the absolute worst year for subaru... turbo was too big, tune was horrible, and the oil pick up couldnt keep up, all stock from the factory. A friend of mine blew his twice, the first time he blew it the waranty replaced it basicly with the exact same motor, that motor lasted a couple weeks, then he decided to getr a cosworth built motorproblem solved for the most part, then loss of bost, he quickly traded the car for a toyota... we called it curse of the turbo Subaru, lol

  • @nathansohm i dissagree i own a 07 wrx never had any trouble with the car have 76000 miles on it with an 18g at 18 pounds

  • @scubbipower07 My appologies, that was directed at STI's in general, i should have made that more clear. I personaly love Subaru, I just hate the unreliability of the STI. Scratch what i said about "curse of the turbo subaru", thats not the case at all, I should have said "curse of the STI". The WRX an the XT are great. Im considering buying one actualy, haha

  • @nathansohm no worries man. i think its an amazingly tough car.

  • actually i think your turn signal fluid might be low

  • a "blown" motor would mean half of the engine parts are laying underneath the car

  • lmfao u can make 1000HP with a 4-banger.. they just don't last like low revving 8's do

  • @xmodrock thats incorrect low revving or not v8s have twice as much stuff to break especially when making serious power na or forced inducted

  • @blackdemonevo9 sorry son.. a low revving engine is way less likely to break.. and V8s can make 1000 HP with less stress than a 4-banger.. it might take you a 20PSI twin turbo system fully built... all i need is a 521 BBF with a blower and cams.. not even fully built

  • @xmodrock That is a very generalized statement. If you have a stroked v8, the radial stresses are much much higher at lower rpms compared to 4 bangers (especially subaru H4s, which are short stroked by nature). And arguably having a ton of low end torque can be as detrimental to an engine as high end power, albeit for some different reasons. Just running high performance sacrifices reliability, no matter what type of engine.

  • @bassbone1785 its still a 4-banger

  • @xmodrock That makes little difference in how stresses effect an engine.

  • @xmodrock Case in point: Harley Davidson V-Twins are bored and stroked almost identically to your V-8s, They are primarily low end engines unless serious work is done on them, redline being around 6k from the factory. Whereas you can look at other styles of motorcycle v-twins that will do 12k rpms all day long and are primarily top end engines. Yet I know for a fact that the HD v-twins are NOT more reliable.

  • @bassbone1785 im a muscle car guy so of coarse id rather have a harley any way but most motorcycles that are really high performance are more than 2 cylinder engines

  • they dont take kindly to mods without tuning

  • if your engine is real blown then eyou cant start id anymore

  • that poor subaru

  • blown head gasket = white smoke !

  • @rockinfaceplant0000 a cracked cylinder wall would cause coolant to burn

  • That same thing happened to mine! i have an 02 bug eye and i just ran it untill when i started it up I made a smoke screen! then it broke so i had to get a new engine!

  • it just a blown head gasket

  • If the ECU caused it from spark advance causing detonation....you would be hearing the detonation...and that would also mean that the knock senor they put on there did not do its job. Sounds like bullshit to me...

  • just another excuse for someone who flogs the crap outta his cars...

  • aaah so this was the ecu problem I rarely heard about... sux :/

  • Bad ECU=too agressive spark advance? That could crack a cylinder or piston. In the interest of performance the ECU went overboard causing detonation=breakage.

  • nice floating black box

  • turbo

  • omg that has to suck big time at least u were able to get a new engine

  • None of you read the description and that is my car. It's not a blown turbo, it wasn't driven poorly, it wasn't because it was cold out. The dealership took the motor apart and found CYLINDER 4 CRACKED. Ok? That was the problem, it was due to BAD ECU. New engine was installed. I hope this clears it up.

  • @untitledworks5 haha "bad ecu" is a blanket term dealerships use when they don't know wtf caused the problem. ecu's very rarely go bad, yet alone crack cylinder walls. I've actually split a cylinder wall on a 2.5 my self, took a while before signifigant symptoms were shown.

  • @untitledworks5 Best oil to run in the STI is your own cum.....I usually wack off about 7 times a day into an oil bottle then by the end of the month I mix in some valvoline 10w 30 with my cum (which is about 20w 50) and it usually evens the oil out to about 15w 40 and cum lubricates the mail bearings pretty well also.....Hope this helps

  • @wollongongwrx breh are you serious?! Who is going to take your advice?

  • @wollongongwrx haha dude that made me laugh.

  • @untitledworks5 nice ride man im lookin for one myself

  • @untitledworks5 ok im a Z32 fan but im also an Subaru fan aswell so i would know lots bout these but never bout bad ecu's thats a trip

  • bad turbo

  • You can buy any car you want just maintain your vehical people.

  • The white smoke can mean a number of problems or like when you dont start your car for a while then you start it a little white smoke will come out sometimes.

  • the white smoke of death......

  • what does all that white smoke mean

sometimes my STi does that aswell on start up =/

  • it aint blown till it dont run

  • @mister6sir lol

  • @mister6sir lol you are correct sir

  • buy a nissan

  • my friend dusted his with some poor quality fuel

  • christ i have a wrx with 150k original motor runs fine..

  • @SuperchargedShaw That because you probably took care of your car while some people like to beat the shit out of them and then complain when something goes wrong...

  • blown engine at 15k, what do you play fast and furious all day?

  • i blew mine at 5k lol xD fuck not a good day, was rebuilt only 5k ago and now its screwed, hopefully the builders fault

  • Maybe you should break in the motor first

  • i did break it in

  • Wow do you kiss your mom with that mouth. Anyways, my #2 ringland went with it completely stock. I would make the owner of the sti do a leak down test for you.

  • Subaru engines don't just blow. Dickeads that drive them like the stole them day in day out kill them. Usually the same dickheads that use cheap shit bolt on performance upgrades without appropriate tuning. Usually the same dickheads using shit oil and never changing it.

Omid, if you're buying it from the original owner and have a full factory service history, you shouldn't have any problem. These engines are good for well in excess of 150000km when looked after.

  • exactally dude that car should be running healthy no matter how old the damn thing is!

  • I have a 07sti also and #2 ring went at 15000.

  • any advice on the 04 sti? I'm looking into trading in my car for one.around 60k on it.

  • Was this under warranty? hope so.

  • one question..How did tou cover the license plate??What program?

  • No go with Cosworth

  • youre gay.

  • poor car.. :(

such a horrid thing to go through..

  • Thats true, thats why i got the cobb accessport stage 1 as soon as i could on mine. Did they replace it under warranty?

  • It's not a blown turbo. There was a crack in the wall of cylinder 3. Apparently the stock ECU tune is quite horrible and many 07 STIs have blow up already as a result.

  • lol, my 07 STi blew also, dealer kept saying there was no problem, then there was at 32K. saw the white smoke, ended up being a cracked ringland and a scorched cylinder wall.

  • that's quite a fucking defect, don't ya think? wow, they need to get their shit together.

  • @untitledspam i also believe 07s have the weakest bottom end, correct me if im wrong. buddy of mine too had an 07

  • yes this is only the turbo blown not the engine!!!

  • damn you must have beat the livin shit outta that sti cuz there pretty strong motors. r.i.p... for now go helix motor

  • Not a Blown Turbo is it?
