Man sieht hier auch gut das nicht die volle Leistung abgerufen wird. Immer wenn der Motor stark zu arbeiten hat, beantwortet er das mit einer kleinen schwarzen Wolke. Das kommt dadurch das mehr Sprit als Luft verbrannt wird, sprich das Bezin- Luftgemisch ist nicht ideal und sie überfettet leicht. Das dient aber der Zylinderwandkühlung und sorgt somit logischerweise für geringeren Verschleiß. Ist auch garnicht schlimm, denn es bleibt ja eine beeindruckende Maschine mit super Sound ;)

Far more advanced power plant than the Merlin with its fuel injection and supercharger ( oh listen to the supercharger sing ) we are fortunate the air frame was built with mass production / qty in mind rather than speed and maneuverability, so many floors in the air frame, canopy and undercarriage. What if that motor was put in a spitfire what would that have been like for the maneuvers with no negative G fears causing the carburetors floats to close. Still the Spit looks and sounds beautiful

Search on Spitfire EN 830, a Mk. Vb. captured in 1942. The Germans installed a DB605 motor and found that the Me110 cowling would fit with a few modifications. This aircraft was flown as a test aircraft with the DB605 and was well-liked. I'm sure you can search for flight test data for this test project. The plane was destroyed in bombing raid in 1944. It was a very nice-looking Spit with the German cowling and engine.

ME109, FW190, Supermarine Spitfire, De Havilland Hurricane - all superb planes and representing the best technology that each nation brought to bear in WW2. I love seeing and hearing them all. Comparisons are useless and irrelevant. Let us just enjoy hearing and seeing them at their best!

That being said - my personal favourite aircraft of WW2 is the De Havilland Mosquito.

That whisseling sound, i now realize the terror the soldiers felt on the ground when they herd that whisling sound coming from the sky... either it was bombs or the elite pilots flying the Messerschmitt.

@simonsrd100 This 109 in the Video has a DB605 - Daimler Benz 605 engine. It is not a Merlin . This Plane is based on a spanish buchon (the spanisch Messerschmitt 109 with Merlin or Hispano Aviacion HA-1112 ), but it was rebuild . So now it is technical the same like the german Bf 109 . ;)

The Messerschmitt Me-109 is very fast. Top speed 550 Km/h.

@raulox71 This is a G-4 so technically at altitude and at full power the top speed is around 660-670 KM/H. But since they never fly at much altitude and only run the engine at 70% the top speed probably is around 550 in dives.. Maybe more.
