@vieires Both Ronaldinho & Messi do/did take the team to the next level. The period you refer to when Barca weren't so successful was when Xavi was still developing & maturing as a player. Their recent success has coincided with Xavi's peak years. But of course the emergence of Iniesta & Messi plus the additions of the likes of Ronaldinho, Deco, Villa, Dani Alves etc has had a lot to do with it also. Nothing changes my mind tho that Xavi is the most important piece of the Barca jigsaw.

Xavi is the best player in the world, and is the one who makes Barca tick more than any other, including Messi. There is a reason Spain, not Argentina are International football's equivalent of Barca, and that reason is Xavi.
