  • Thanks very easy and helpful

  • thank you. you're right, these are the correct chords. been wanting to learn this for years.

  • GREAT LESSON MAN THAK YOU A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU FROM IRELAND...

  • Thank you! Happy Xmas.

  • short sweet and exquisitely done

    Merry Xmas

    TADEEO

  • He do sound a bit like lennon

  • @Gibbeble haha, just giving it the feel ;-)))

  • @Gibbeble agree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what are the chords, plzz

  • @MrAsianDomination1 I speak them out as I am playing them to show where and how they are played

  • @stevevox1 i couldnt really understand you

  • @MrAsianDomination1 If you cant see what I am doing and cant understand then I think this song may be beyond your playing ability, you will have to spend more time learning to play then come back to it, there are many chords with sus 4's ect going on and it would take a lot of work to write it out and you would still be confused, good luck

  • @stevevox1

You did say Open Chords right?

Well you play it well and it sounds good but I have no idea those chords you're playing???

    Your G looks more like a C...

Your E looks like an A...

You're Em looks like an Am

Those are NOT the standard version of them as Open Chords. They look more like Variations?

I might be able to learn the song by just following your shapes but they do NOT look like the open chords I know.

    Thanks though~

  • @stone34 Yeah, sometimes people find easier ways or more useful ways to play chords, example being if I played the G with my wedding finger on the E string G note I wouldnt be able to play this song, so I play it with my little finger thus leaving my index finger free to play the added chord parts, if you can play the open chords in different fashions then its not a problem, if your a new player or only play as your were instructed then you will have to practice playing your chords differently

  • Nice playing . No other instrument needed. Great chord's.

  • Thanks, i've been trying to play this song for a while but i couldnt quite finger the chords. This is a lot easier. Props.

  • what are the chords

  • Thanks for the lesson ! I needed that! Great work, man

  • I knew there had to be a better way, cheers mate.

  • Cheers mate, I reckon it would have been wriiten like this without the capo, have a good year

  • I have been trying to learn this song forever Bro. and all the other tabs and videos I tried had chords I could never finger.

You made it so simple I cant believe it.

Thanks so much for the wonderful lesson.

Cheers and Have a great New Year.

    Regards

    Bob

  • My pleasure Bob and have a great new year yourself, cheers

  • hi steve,

thankyou for your reply. much appreciated. your teaching was great, i was practicing for a couple of hours last night and woke up this morn and played it no problemo. i think the capo on the 2nd might by a bit high for my voice so will move it down to 1st.

Anyway, been wanting to learn this song for sucha long time and with your help have managed to do so.

again many thanks. have a very merry christmas and great new year.

    loveandpeace:)

    ash

  • No probs mate, have a great festive season too, cheers

  • last question mate,

what do you mean by taking it down two semitones? do i need to do this or is it okay in standard tuning?

    hope you can help.

    merryxmas war is nearly over!

  • What I was meaning is the key may be to high for a lot of people so playing it with open chords and a capo means you can change the key by simply moving the capo, the key I am playing it in is the key of the record ( A ) hope that answer your question, cheers

  • another queation, just trying to follow your instructions here...what is the 3rd chord you play is it a D?

  • D but Dsus4 is the first stroke ( strum )

  • oh forgot to ask, did john lennon use a capo for this song?

    loveandpeace:)

  • I doubt he did ( dont really know ) but normally when people write songs they normally use open chords then when they record it they do it higher for dynamics

  • thankyou for sharing, nice to hear it played properly!

    loveandpeace:)

  • thanks for that wanted to learn proper version for yonks.

  • This version is the best I have seen on the net , sounds better and is much easier to play , great job

  • thanks bud, appreciated

  • The material you've presented here is great. This version allows you to fret all the chords across 3 frets instead of 4. This is a great way to play the song without having to stretch to get those suspended 4ths & 2nds. I've been searching for an easier way to play this song without changing any of the chord qualities - my search is over. Thanks for the lesson. 5 stars from me.

  • Thanks mate, I looked at some other youtube versions cause I need to learn this song but they were not quite right so I worked it out myself tonight and I want to share it cause its really quite simple and more than likely the way it was written in G then recorded in A, thanks again
