I just got back from the a perfect circle concert in Portland Oregon a few minutes ago... all I can say is they were great and the live sound blew my mind. Orestes sounded great but they didn't play 3 libras.
@metallika411 Hey, I was there, too. They did play 3 Libras, the remixed version. The same version I heard last Nov. in Seattle. I don't like it as much, I really wanted to hear the original version. Maybe it's too hard on Maynard's vocal cords.
Can't sing high anymore? Your crazy. Somehow Maynard can hit notes that should be falsetto but don't sound falsetto. Its very strange. I guess everyone's voice has a different breaking point between sotto and falsetto. I have heard that women do not sing falsetto, in that there is no break like there is for guys. Is it possible Maynard has a woman's voice trapped in a mans body? Maybe not exactly, but I think I'm on to something...
@Titantron9000 it's possible to increase vocal range (and for it to atrophy as well) just like muscles. What notes "you" may need falsetto now can be achieved through vocal training... Believe this: I started vocal lessons 8 months ago because of this song and Maynard vocals in it. I'm a baritone, and i'm just now getting the range for this song, without slipping into falsetto. Though the vibrato hasn't formed, yet.
@Titantron9000 check out wikipedia under Female Falsetto if you're truly interested. (I was after reading your post) it's controversial but females do have a falsetto register, just less pronunciation with it? Some female singers are known to use it though (Whitney houston)
@RobRoyMH Yea falsetto for both men and women is a highly debated topic. I take it your teacher said Maynard was a Tenor? Also congrats on taking vocal lessons, for some reason people think they are a BAD thing...I dont get why, ive been taking them for 2 years, my voice just keeps on getting better and im able to do more things creatively aswell!

@RobRoyMH Yea, its a solid 2 octaves in full voice, but in "metal" sounds I can hit 4 Fs on my keyboard, thats basically the limit. The note he hits when he says "residue" near the end is an A, so right now thats as high as I would go in full voice. My advice is to keep taking lessons though, as long as you've found a great teacher amazing things will start to just happen...like you'll wake up one day and something will just click, ya know? Lessons are amazing to take!
@RobRoyMH Ill check it out right now...What range are you in at this point? Also keep in mind the bigger deal from what ive learned from bands over a few years is how long you can sing for as opposed to range, so its not super important if you know how to work it right!

I hope they end up doing another tour besides all the shows out west. Ohio loves APC too! Saw them in Cleveland in 2004 and it was the most amazing show I've ever experienced. Just beautiful.

@Ieatmorechicken im sorry but i'm going to have to disagree. the backups that billy does are very well done. and yes I love maynard, but a perfect circle is full of second vocal tracks on the album so it would sound somewhat empty without any backup. you can't debate solid logic. (oh snap)

Maynards kid plays an instrument for one of the songs. (evry1 throws that in there) Check it out sumtime. The whole cd is good. It grows on ya for sure.
