AFG didn't play a smart fireball war. ACE just kept trading EX booms with him the whole time. Near the end of the last round AFG had the lead with no meter and began a fireball war with ACE who basically had a full meter. He got hit by most of his EX booms.
@egghead268 Or else you wouldn't be watching SSF4 videos on youtube.... Some people who watch matches aren't as observant as others and its always necessary to learn why and how someone lost. Maybe you observed the difference in meter but not everyone watching will.
Watching this match made me reailse i'm glad i don't play a projectile character - these projectile wars are too tense and it's very easy to make the wrong move. It just becomes a different game almost and u have to go into the fight with a different mindset.
urggh this match is fucking pain in the ass for sagat guile imo is top 3 disgusting characters in ssf4 i've got alot of experience in this matchup and let me tell you guys no matter how good the sagat is the match up is always a slow process against a good guile especially turtle guiles (thats how u play guile) but fml its one of those matchups where u rip your hair out as a sagat player imo this match is a really hard 6-4 or close to 6.5 guiles favour that being said i beat the guiles in aus
this match is actually pretty hard for Sagat...Guile just has to get just inside midrange and sit there and it's so hard for Sagat to do anything to him at that point without getting ruined. AFG did a great job of staying out of it and keeping his cool when he was in that range but still just couldn't get it done.
@SinSeared its actually a sonic block. he creates a sonic boom by blocking at supersonic speeds. but a glitch in the matrix occurred twice in this match, once at :54 and again at 4:19.
how come some of the guile's sonic booms r slow n some r fast? how do u increase the speed at which sonic booms travel?i don't play guile since i main vega but i would like to know how to increase the speed of SBs
I disagree. This is kinda boring because none of the players are using the zoning game for anything but keep-away. Perhaps the best example is at 2:12 when AFG has ACE in the corner, and jumps away. Regardless of what, having your opponent cornered is good, and jumping away like that just goes to show he isn't using his zoning to create an opportunity, but rather to keep ACE away and punish a jump-in or whatever. That's boring, and I don't believe this match shows the finer points of zoning.
This is like watching an MMA fight when they clinch on the ropes or the cage… if either one moves the wrong muscle, the other one will twist him into a pretzel and knee him in the face! BTW, cool annotations. Thanks for uploading.
I don't know if this comment will make any sense, but these guys are so good at SSFIV that it's boring. It's so calculated... I respect the level of play displayed here, but jesus, they're both playing so solid it's ridiculously boring.
i really like how ace uses that standing medium kick man, sets it up so well too. i don't see a whole lot of guiles using it. my favorite guile player.
@juju52291 I see your point but I personally do find this match boring as they both are spacing fireball characters. I'd prefer it if one was on the offensive and one was spacing them out e.g more jump-in fireball punishes and more FADC fireball into combos, would just give it some more flashiness!!
@SORRYxIMxAxRETARD sadly, neither guile nor sagat has the rush down tools against solid zoning. Due to character design they have to take the patient approach, which is a hell of a battle in itself. i can appreciate that about this match and not find it boring.
great fight. unfortunately, we're gonna get those people with the "I like the part wen he sed sonic boom" type comments and people bitching about how this is boring etc. but it's still interesting. it's the art of spacing. and if you are willing to get your head out of your ass, you can appreciate all of the thought and skill that goes into every little move each player makes. just because they aren't jumping all over the place and dishing out huge combos doesn't mean it's not exciting.
@0ShinAkuma0 Agreed. Funnily enough I've found that in the highest level games it's more about what they're not doing than what they are. This is no more apparent then when 1 mistake can litterally cost someone a round.
@TheAlphaChurch I don't recall anyone that has played 3s saying that fireballs are cheap. Also, anyone has their own opinions on games systems. I honestly think parrying is a way of balancing things.Learning to fish and parry properly is one of the harder things to do in 3s. I don't understand why SF4 players think that parrying is something you can guess on and throw out there. Oh, and if you've played 3s for more than 5 minutes and think you have an opinion on whats cheap.... GTFO
All 3S fanboys who leave comments anywhere complain about fireballs. So hold on, let me get this straight. Parrying, something you can do against basically anything (normals, specials and supers), anywhere (on ground and in air) and cost no meter isn't cheap? ok, sure buddy. You shouldn't be able to get punished for a third of your life because someone parried your poke. Nonsense. But, to each his own.
@TheAlphaChurch I guess man, I'm not trying to persuade you I'm just giving you my opinion. The 3s players you are mentioning are trolls who don't even play it often. I think high risk- high reward is a good thing. It makes things more aggressive and fast paced, fireball zoning ( While it takes much skill to master) slows things down added on to the already slower paced & defensive game. Also I would really love to see just anyone take up 3s and in the first 5 minutes parry everything!
@juju52291 dawg dont worry bout them cuz they dont kno what a good match is unless its MW2, halo, black ops....u get it ppl dont take fighting games as serious cuz of thoes FPS and other games but THIS match is a pure example of how much skill is needed in fighting games and if they dont see that well tough titty to them
@juju52291 its not exciting unless your in the match...it is interesting tho......u said it perfectly ....watchin is learning but its more exciting when ur ingame but only if ur able to handle pressure and have experience and good execution wen the time comes...some people just wont get that..but we just have to let them be
I agree with you but the entertaining factor is pretty low, it's interesting how they get there space and guess at the right moments to jump but honestly I didn't think it was a that great of a match, personal preference I guess
Jesus I hate Guile! No matter what, he always has control of the match (unless he's up against a Viper/Akuma/Abel). Everyone else seems to not be able to do anything to him. I think AFG outplayed ACE by far, but it's his character that makes ACE better. Sigh, well AE will be out in the summer, so I ain't trippin.
If you think Guile is going to be significantly worse in SSF4AE, you're gonna be disappointed.
Damage nerfs will set him back some, but none of the properties of his solid normals have been changed. Knowing the matchup is still integral to winning. The only difference between AE and Super is that it'll take Guile an extra 10 or so seconds to win.
I don't need him to be significantly worse to beat him. I can beat him now. What I do want is for him to have some type of weakness (other than losing to cross ups). Currently to jump and punish a sonic boom, you have to literally jump before he ever throws it. Stupid. His recovery time should be longer to reward a good jump. And out footsy-ing a guile shouldn't be too hard. low forward for the shotos works like a charm.
