yee yee, well, it's kinda too late now xD seeing how it's summer and all ;D
But I wore flannels whenver I went to the hills this year, underneath my snow pants of course, really worked well! Everyone thought it was my underwear when I took my snowpants off -.-
Im riding in a normal ski place in Sweden, so i cant go offpist, i really love to go offpist thats oohh iii looove it! But, when im going to offpist in normal ski mountains then its bad offpist, its like in the woods with alot of tree and rocks, today i was planning to jump over a pipe but i failed and i was railing at it instead, and the screw or however it spells risted up my board.. ahh ! and then i falled and hurted myself in a big jump,Then risted up my brothers jacket. Bad day of skiing.
ExpertVillage just makes terrible instructional snowboard videos... The problem is not only is a lot of their advice not very helpful, but often, like in this video, it's just downright wrong.
yea man ur right apparently t shirts are really bad as a base layer, i wear i really thin thermal layer then he t shirt, u dont feel the thermal layer but if and wen you faceplant or fall in powder it stops your skin being wet, also removes sweat.
even some thermal layers are not necessarily moisture wicking. Pretty much anything made by a skiing or snowboarding company will be though. A cotton tee shirt should never come into the picture in my opinion. Cotton is your enemy while on the mountain. Maybe it's just because I live in Vermont where it gets balls cold in the winter sometimes so you really want to focus on layering. Much easier to enjoy yourself while comfortably dressed.
what about t shirts sold by snowboarding companies, im a big supporter of layering but what else could you put between thermals and outer layers? any tips would be greatly appriciated,
If it's made out of cotton, I would say "do not wear it on the mountain!" At the very least abide by this rule: no cotton should be in immediate contact with your body (that includes socks). So if you wear a cotton tee shirt on top of 2 other layers of moisture wicking shirts, you might be ok. Between thermals and outer layers you can wear moisture wicking shirts, fleeces, or more thermals.
on a really really cold day this is how i usually layer:
a) spandex type, tight fitting, warm base layer (top and bottom)
b) thermal shirt and pants (I believe one of my thermal shirts is partially cotton but it is designed to wick away moisture so it's good and very warm)
c) if needed, another moisture wicking shirt
d) a fleece
c) my jacket
that's a lot of layers and really designed for really cold days. I'd always rather have to take off a layer than be too cold.
i had an insulated shitty jacket but i got a nice special blend snowboarding jacket thats waterproof and looks sick but it has no insulation so im gonna wear layers under it, does any1 know if this is a bad idea and if i should get an insulated jacket?
no need for insulation in your jacket if you layer well. Most important is that our jacket is water and wind proof. The real warmth your body needs comes from NOT following this video's advice and layering PROPERLY. Keeping yourself dry is KEY to keeping yourself warm.
man its just fuckng easy...you take a normal rain-jacket a good snow pant good boots(my foot never get cold! i have burtons jeremy jones and they fit very good and i just wear one pair thick socks und them) then may long underwear(depends on how cold it is) and then sweatshirt and tshirt(last time i boarded it was so warm i could board in tshirt and sweatshirt and nothing more)
thick socks are rarely a good idea when snowboarding though. You should really use thin, moisture wicking socks designed for snowboarding or skiing. Also just make sure that your layers aren't all 100% cotton

GO TO BURTON!!! but the stuff that looks dope.. not like faggy.. worst thing you can buy is what some of those guys are wearing... cuz they dont like dope at all
Im new to snowboard, am going to Killington this weekend. I got a Burton jacket, returned it after I saw a Sims Inferno jacket
somewhere else. Got wool, breathable sports socks. Sims snowboard pants. Hat with pull down Balaclava. Should I get goggles people? What about layers? Anything that's a must that I'm missing? Thanks for the advice in advance.
Can you rent snowboarding boots or do you have to buy them because I'm going snowboarding this Monday and I need to find out because if we have to buy them were not gonna go
Probably... I've only been in California so its generally been in the 40's and up and a person gets pretty warm, but I would wear something underneath since you won't be boarding the whole time - there'll also be rides on the lift.
Had a difficult time figuring if i was normal or goofy. If someone where to push me i would lead with my right leg which they say it means i'm goofy. However, on a skateboard, I'm normal. This common?
Im similar to you I wasn't sure either, in snowboarding though you need to learn to do both ways, so just practice on both if you can, it ll make you a much better boarder.
Thanks for the tips man. I used to snowboard when I lived in North Carolina, but I moved to Florida and haven't snowboarded in 4 years, so can you tell me what kind of snowboard, bindings, and boots to get? I am just asking because I am to Vermont on the 20th and need to get more equipment before I go.
when me and my friend went snowboarding in nz we just wore thermal tops & snowboarding pants. it was hell hot though... & we where boarding on ice - not so fun.
noob strap? Its a security measure. I spent to much on my board to have it slip once and get totaled or lost. Am i an a noob for having car insurance too? Idiot
i'm boarding since 9 years and i never lost my board... if you are not completely dumb you can manage to HOLD your board without that strap and i know a lot of friends who are real professional boarders and noone uses that strap. if you need a strap, use it. but you cant compare it to a car insurance ;) cheers

if ur a good snowboarder u were like a tshirt and a jacket becuse if ur doing tricks u get hot
jonster1324 2 years ago
After some research, I've come to the conclusion:
(inner to outer)
Underarmour
Thermal/ fleece/wool longsleeve OR
Just cut straight to the fleece jacket
And then water-proof jacket
If it's super hott, simply underarmour from Head-to-Toe and your water-proof layer

dude, did he just say that a regular tee shirt should be your bottom layer for your top?
Last I checked, regular tee shirts are all cotton and cotton absorbs moisture. Pretty much the opposite of what you want to happen.
Most important thing really is just to get moisture wicking gear made for snowboarding or skiing.
groovinonfunk 2 years ago
for sure under armor seemed like a good idea to me while my shirt was all wet from sweating.

depends on the temp
if its warm enough glasses will be enough
but when its colder goggles are a must
if your snowboarding your feet shouldn't get to cold unless your boots fit you terribly
