I too have this album - Passed down from older brother and this track has to be my favourite!! Remember listening to it when I was 11 years old!! Always was the odd one too - Asian, young girl with ecletic taste in music!! ;-)
@saimaashary I got you beat. I heard this in concert for the first time in 1985 at Madison Square Garden: (Stanley Clarke and Jeff Lorber on the bill.) Lorber was on first, and a guy sitting behind me kept saying "Stanley is going to blow Jeff away!!!". But they were both sensational - lol.
@Austinagent1 That was Robert Brookins the keyboardist. If you saw the "TIME EXPOSURE" tour in 1984. Robert slapped the shit out of the bass on the title cut while Stanley did the solo. R.I.P. Robert.
@Austinagent1 wow man i cant believe you remember this song! i too was at the concert, down on greenville boulevard, and i clearly remember this song. i just found out what it was called! lol. i remember Stanley inviting bass players from the audience to9 get up and jam a while... hell of a concert!
LOVE this album!! Got it back in the day and was probably the only white kid in my town blasting it out of my used Toyota......ha.
Made a few converts ;)
Would have loved to see these guys at the Beverly like photorams65 - say some great shows there. Yellowjackets, Al DiMeola, et al. Man I miss that whole scene. Had to drive forever to get to those venues but so worth it......
I saw this band back in 1985 at the Beverly Theatre in Los Angeles. My first/last time seeing Stanley. Sad to hear that Brookins passed away. Thanks for sharing!
Would you please upload "Sky's the Limit" (best tune from this record). I purchased this album when it was released in '85 (I have not heard this track in decades). It's a wonderful record.
I saw Stanley Clarke & Co. perform this - LIVE - at Avery Fisher Hall at the JVC Jazz Festival in July 1985! He brought the house down!! Thanks for posting this.
Nitedrive - Love your comment ;-)
