The sport essentially kept me from suicide and other dark things a teenager may come across when she is born into a world of racism and homophobia. It reminds me to breathe in, out, and get on with it. And, to just spend life doing what I love! I think that is important.

good tattoo artists take their time- its something that is meant to last a lifetime. you dont really want a quick tattoo, it will probably end up looking funky, and it will be a bad representation of the artist- they dont want that either. Plus, factor in some time to take a couple minutes for breaks.

Look through his portfolio (his other works of art) and if he doesn't have a portfolio, don't even attempt. Do some serious shopping. Go to at least 5+ tattoo parlours before deciding on your artist. Either that or get a referral from someone who has had a tattoo and it looks good.

i'd have to agree with what you say about the pain. it's more of an annoyance. there are certain spots where it hurt worse, like on my ribs and closer to my spine, otherwise it wasn't bad at all.

It didn't hurt to me, it just felt like something vibrating against my skin. I didn't feel the needle at all and there was no blood. I showered with it, and it didn't sting or anything. It got itchy after a while when it was scabbing, but only for a day or two. Don't worry about it, just bring friends and good music and you will be okay.

There's a difference between scripted box characters and calligraphy written characters. The ones you type out on a computer are often on the walls of tattoo parlours and say things like "peace", "harmony", "dragon", "strength"... etcetc. And often it's the occasional loser who abuses it and writes it all over his shoulders and arms.

It all depends on how you look at it I guess. I for one think mine is great. No regrets!

I'm glad you feel a lot better about it. Before I got my tattoo, everyone was telling me how much painful it was going to be, how much blood will come out etc etc. So I had such a high expectancy of pain, that I didn't feel anything. I basically went numb. Just don't think about it. It's a tattoo, it's going to hurt, but definitely not as much as you think it will :)
