Davis scored the first about 10 minutes in. Honestly couldn't believe my eyes at what was unfolding. 4 goals in about 15 minutes when the team did shit all for the other 80% of the game. I bet the SCG groundstaff breathed a sigh of relief too, the morons put the sprinklers on an hour or 2 prior to the start.

The biggest grand larceny was Steve Alessio vs Swans in 2001. We were ahead for all but 4 seconds!

I was in the Bradman stand that very night - behind the goal posts at the other end of the ground. My head was in my hands thinking that the Swannie's season was over. I couldn't see the actual goal being kicked but knew it instinctively from the red and white army that rose up behind the posts when Davis nailed that last one. The best sporting moment of my life bar none. I remember that euphoric feeling like it was yesterday when I watch this clip. Best 70 bucks I ever spent.

This was the finals loss that inspired Geelong's 2007 premiership. But the 2008 GF loss against Hawthorn was the first finals loss for Geelong since this.
I was lucky enough to be at that game. I'm a West Coast supporter (and we all know what happened a week later). This is, without a doubt, my favourite live footy moment.
It sends shivers down my spine everytime I watch it. Un-frickin-believable.

Im sure you're right mate, I mean it was the greatest escape Ive seen. I am a Sydney fan but I have heard on Fox Sports Tony Shaw say that sometimes when he turns up for Swans games, he doesnt expect a much and he sometimes gets very bored. So that along with the fact that Geelong was a lot better on the night is probably why he said that and it makes me think he really wanted Geelong to play in the prelim and not Sydney.
What a game! Shame that Nick Davis no longer plays AFL and isn't remembered much, but I definitely will remember him. 2005 = best year for finals imo.

for some reason this gives me shivvers down my spine and im a geelong supporter, this game would have to be one of the best games that ive wached other then the 2 grand finals between sydney and west coast

Cannot believe they let Davis just run onto that...you could see Joel Corey and another player let him through, with no block at all. Quite pathetic, in the last 10 seconds of the game in front of their goals, to bo so slack on an opponent.

Yeh Rex kept saying "Ohh no!" and Tony Shaw was the one that said "that is wrong" but i dont mind because with Melbourne commentators saying that it just makes the victory seem even sweeter to this day! lol

Mate, they weren't saying that because they wanted Geelong to win. They were making comments like that because Geelong were in front all night and deserved to win. I mean, come on, you're a Sydney fan, but you have to admit that's the biggest robbery on a sporting field ever.

Im sure you're right mate, I mean it was the greatest escape Ive seen. I am a Sydney fan but I have heard on Fox Sports Tony Shaw say that sometimes when he turns up for Swans games, he doesnt expect a much and he sometimes gets very bored. So that along with the fact that Geelong was a lot better on the night is probably why he said that and it makes me think he really wanted Geelong to play in the prelim and not Sydney.

Yeah there's not much credit going to Sydney in this call. True Geelong would have been gutted but don't forget that Sydney came from nowhere to kick 4 unanswered goals in the last quarter. That at last wasn't a fluke.
