No they're not cousins. As much as ppl say, kovu is NOT scars son. Every king needs a heir to the throne if something was to happen to them. Mufasa had simba as his heir. When scar became king in the first movie he needed to pick an heir not expecting simba to come back and reclaim his rightful place. Kovu and Kiara are not related whatsoever.
