beacause the psp has a widescreen like in the cinema, while the tv' s of the 90s were like squares so otherwise the game would be streched

only some games can, if the ps3 game supports remote play, you can read it on the box of the game

yes you can use the whole screen to play PSX games in stretch mode. there are a lot of different settings to your television that can change this too.

there are firmware hacks for the PSP that will let you do this, you will also need the game cd image

Yes you can, just get the Image of your PSX disc using CD IMaging software such as Alcohol 120%, Nero, or MagicISO.

I was once like you, I had no clue about Downgraders / etc. Google is my friend.

This is a free version of that. YOu just need to have the original PS1 disc.

You need a PS3 to play it, and a CD copy of Gran Turismo 2 or any other PS1 game. The PSP connects to the PS3 wirelessly.
