  • Long blonde haired nip with an 80's headband on. Now that is fashion.

  • やっぱうまいわー

  • Between 3:03 and 3:11 is that steam coming out his bell? Look closely

  • very good, amazing

  • There is absolutely no personality to his sound; his playing is way too straight as he takes no liberty with the music--this is a sterile version. So, way below incredibly poor--especially for the amount of training and practice he obviously has. However, he has a very nice and rich tone with excellent breath control. Cudos for that! (the note at the peak of the phrase at 3:09 and end of the phrase at 3:23 is a written A flat 3). So, with personality this guy would be one stellar player.

  • @callmeBe You are so wrong. Let us see your video of you being backed up by a live orchestra on live TV. No? Then learn something from an artist with the guts and talent to play in bands with names like Frank Sinatra and Count Basie, and start his own successful bands.

  • @CaptainQueue When you can tell me how to finger that A flat 3, and how to approach the mouthpeice with that note let's talk again. Oh, and I did write for Rex Allen when he was conducting the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. And, in fact next week one of my works, "Sinfonia" is being played at a college N. of Seattle. Please review my credentials! Capt.Q I am very happy that you feel so strongly about the trumpet playing here. I wish more music lovers listened to trumpets vs. guitars.

  • sou mas arturo sandoval

  • なぜ五木

  • The Japanese Orchestra and the arrangement are so proffesional. MF would have been pleased with it, Note the harps and the that the band takes a higher cord in the end ;o)

  • exelente , exelente, Genial.-

  • @projectwasteland1316yea...

  • 本家=Fergusonより音が綺麗な気が。

  • トランペットがうれしそう!

  • Idk what the dude at the beginning is saying, but I'm guessing it has something to do with how awesome Eric is hahaha

  • ネ申..._〆(゚▽゚*)

  • Even though I couldn't understand a word that guy was saying, that performance was amazing! God, I wish I could play like that!

  • Gonna Fry Now.

  • This was so cool. Love this still lol

  • no offense to both musicians since Mayhard is the best but Miyashiroso is also good but i think Miyashiroso need dance and give produce energy and happiness here, im talking about the video of course he looks too quiet... anyway it was nice but oh well maybe Miyashiroso had not time to train with orchestra, i think so.

  • ヤハリ神ダナ

  • He studied with maynard you cock face.

  • @hulkhogan503 What? He is a player in the maynard Ferguson tribute band.

  • woah, that's really clean

  • この楽器ゴムで出来てんの?

  • @hulkhogan503 ur an idiot rnt u... do you even know who this guy is

  • @hulkhogan503 idiot.

  • bien eric miyashiro buen tema y lo expresar muy bien felicidades y exitos

  • 14 trombonists wish they played the trumpet.

  • Brilliant! I love this theme, and this is one of the best versions of it ever!

  • Excelente! eu também sou trompetista Brasileiro, e conheço o trabalho do Erick, e acho q ele trabalha muito bem!

  • The Asian version of Maynard Ferguson

  • Awesome

  • Trumpet organism.

  • Eric Miyashiro > Sex.

  • Eric is amazing, paying tribute to Maynard isn't the only thing Eric does, a lot of people think that is all he does but he played lead for buddy rich and sounded great, there are some clips of it on yt and he is an all around great horn player with an excellent technique and sound. I love how Japanese are so much more open to listen to anything, in America, most of the music that is promoted, I think is terrible, some is good though.

  • Trrrrumpetsadeskghtyestneeek

  • he would be asian

  • a blonde asian? O.o

  • @Rockyakaben Have you ever seen Naruto??? lol jk

  • @Dharok95025 yea..lol.. ok eherm ... i meant a REAL blonde asian.. lmfao

  • @1994BATERA english, german, spanish, french, japanese please.. i dont speak estonian...

  • lol hes watched a lot of ferguson from the stance to the fairs of the trumpet, imitation is still the greatest form of flattery

  • 俺の方が上手いな

  • AN ASAIN MAYNARD FIRGUSON

  • ASAINS

  • SWEET!!!!!! I just spoke with Lee at Washington Music Center. There is no doubt now that I'm getting a YTR-8340EM. One awesome axe and one awesome trumpeter!!!!!!!

  • wonderfull

  • Indeed, Eric is great, one of the best today. But he would be better if he would add some more emotion. (PS; Ferguson added 1 more octave in the end....)

    Pompom

  • Parabéns Eric Miyashiro você é um bom trompetista. Você toca como Maynard Ferguson.

  • Comment removed

  • Eric's tone is good but Maynard's is better. While technically impressive, this performance lacks emotion.

  • Gostei da apresentação inicial hehehehe

  • Hes playing star trek with a stargate in the background??? :D

  • mr spock would be proud

  • Wonderful - I just love it.

    Ahead warp facor one!

  • lets remember, this isnt jazz, it's disco funk. huge difference.

  • PORRA VEY O CARA TOCA DEMAIS

  • This video made me pick up my trumpet again :)

  • エリックさんとは共演したことありますが、本当に素晴らしい技術の持ち主だと思います。

    リズム感ないなんて言ってる人もいますが、リズム感がなきゃこんな風には吹けない。

    人の心を動かすプレーヤーです。

  • WARP SPEED!!!!

  • I can't but help see all the Star Trek episodes run through my mind hearing this! All those galaxies and worlds they took us to! BRAVO!!!

  • Great tribute I say. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

  • maynard might have been the happiest musician....that's why the audience loved him night after night

  • Eric may be a better technician but could never match Maynard's "performance" of a tune. Maynard's connection with the audience, energy and passion, even on a ballad I don't think will ever be duplicated by another jazz musician.

  • the user's name is powerful

  • the user's is powerful

  • リズム感ねぇーーーー(笑)

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ニューヨークへ行きたいかー?

  • Much more better than from Maynard Ferguson....

  • He looks bored....

  • no entiendo ni pura mierda de lo que hablan ustedes pedazos de caca aguada

  • Eric Toca d+

  • It is very nice music! I want to practice more high notes.

  • Any one mind telling me what kind of trumpet that is

  • @Amendous yamaha 8310z

  • I dont know who this is or who he's imitating but that was really good

  • I wish i knew what they were saying....

  • coool men

  • star trek is a really dumb show and was never meant to be anything but a cynical assault on the psyche, even though this man's trumpet playing is excellent it is a sad testimony to the times that the japanese are losing their indigenous character and playing this music. bach and telemann etc are great but this?

  • @iorixs

  • @iorixs, mmm, let's see... a 43-year-old franchise worth nearly a billion dollars and has spawned 5 TV series and 10 movies. Not bad for a "dumb" show!

  • @saxocopter sad testimony to the times we live in, people used to write sagas recounting the deeds of their people. people have made a lot of money doing all sorts of things and most of them are not really very noble. i used to be a big star trek fan but now when i watch those old episodes i see how sinister, corrupt, false and cynically stupid they are

  • @iorixs It's not about Star Trek; this is a Maynard Ferguson arrangement, and Eric is probably the best Maynard "impersonator" in the world. The dude is badass on the horn and that's what Japanese people are all about, being badasses!

  • @iorixs losing their indigenous character....... were you drunk when you wrote that or are you just a depressed person? Have you ever even been to Japan?

  • @speezowolfin you're right i have never been to japan and i wasnt drunk when i wrote this. i tend to idealize people sorry if i offended you

  • @iorixs Dont worry about it, Im not offended. My message sounded a little harsher than I intended. I live in Japan right now and its great.... there`s almost zero crime. Ive lived in Tokyo and been in and out of bars for two years and have barely ever seen a harsh word let alone a fight....its wonderful. And their taste in music is great.... so many great places to hear classy music and drink with educated people.....I love it.

  • Eric is one Bad A** Trumpet Player! Excellent Arrangement, and that Orchestra WOW!!!

  • Vlado Kumpan is better!!!! He RULEZ!!!!

  • omgosh hes performing at Oahu Hawaii!! i can get to see him live HAHA im so happy ^_^!!!!!

  • Erick Toca Muito

  • Really good.

  • damn... Eric is realy good!

  • please no more , cheesey trumpets

  • I stood in trumpet sections dozens of times with Eric back in the mid '80s during our common time at Berklee. Eric was absolutely 'the MAN'. He's also one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. He was always very supportive and helpful to all of us mere mortals. In fact, I think I learned more from him than my teachers! As far as the MF comparison.. Eric worshiped Maynard just like the rest of us. And as Maynard said many times; every great player has a special artistry to appreciate.

  • did i heard him say "titties" at 0:03?

  • @TheKevinV08 Yes, but it's Japanese for 'High Chops'! ☺

  • @TheKevinV08 hahahah yep

  • He's playing the same tunes but in a different manner - he's more natural, yet he tries to cover Maynards up's and down's - think he's a best at the moment to take over Maynard's Legacy. Great band !

  • @FredDenmark I am 61 years old and have been playing trumpet since I was 11. I have played jazz, classical, rock and R&B. I have heard many great trumpeters in person, including Eric and Maynard. With all do respect for Eric I can say without doubt that Eric is NO Maynard. You can have 8 trumpet players in a band playing at triple forte and Maynard can be heard above all the others. Eric does not have this kind of power and his style, sound and range do not equal Maynards, period.

  • @FredDenmark i like wayne a bit more, hes played in gonna fly now tribute eric, wayne, and some show off dude

  • @Holyworms

the show off guy was a guy named hessian. He's complete garbage, I can't stand him at all. Yea, he can play some high notes, but he sounds like garbage. I agree with you about him trying to be a show off.

  • @wannaplaytrmptjmu Yeah i don't like him. He was Maynard's lead trumpet though. To me, eric has the best sound. Him or Wynton. He's incredible as well.

  • @MrninjaFTW ah, well I'm more of a Wayne Bergeron fan. My only problem is that I don't think he plays much classical, and I like wynton because of that. I just like Waynes style; he's got a very upbeat personality to his sound.

  • seen this mofo play live - got to talk to him too!

  • the back up trumpets and FH know how to play 2! holly geez!

  • freakin good :)

  • Maynard has already been done... by MAYNARD. Trying to follow him by covering his tunes just makes you look like a wannabe. He needs to find his own niche' and be good at THAT.

  • when did maynard die? also, is eric dead? or is he still playing?

  • @MajinBuu609 August 2006. HUGE loss, even though he had lost some range. Check his wiki entry.

  • @MajinBuu609 Marynard is dead, Eric still going strong

  • GREAT!!!

  • wuao

  • I remember hearing Eric when he was at McKinley High in Hawaii in 1980........still sounds all these years later........

  • やばい!

  • needs more saxophone action

  • @randomfriends715 if you look to the right, his version of gonna fly now has sax in it

  • Sometimes

  • Great performance. Hey i just have one question. I hear people that is bigger have more capacity for air so they can play either higher or lower is that true?

  • well not entirely true but there is some true behind that im a kinda big and i can have more air to back up my high range u know but um depends on lung cpasity try breathing exercises and that will help u out up there trust me

  • @womb0womb0 with all due respect, you don't know what you're taking about. hitting high notes is all about circulating more air through the trumpet, not less. And pinching the lips or pushing in the trumpet is the worst thing you can do. Watch Maynard's clinic video on YouTube to get the real skinny.

  • @fernmann7 Shape is also very important as well as pushing more air. The smaller the hole X's Faster airflow = higher notes.

  • @womb0womb0 Then what about the guys with a no pressure method? That doesn't work all the time, to push harder

  • @scratchnsurf Was a joke. I thought the advice was so terrible that nobody would actually consider it.

  • @hollow5150 it all depends. some big people have no lung capacity and some small people have all the capacity in the world. its like leou down there said. breathing excercises

  • @hollow5150 Pedal Tones man. If you can hit a pedal c then you can hit a high c. Same air, different muscle formation.

  • @hollow5150 I don't think Maynard Ferguson or Bill Chase or Eric Miyashiro or any other screamer are or were particularly big. I think they used their air stream, as Ferguson used to say, better than most. It's the amount of air you can force through the horn that determines range.

  • @fernmann7 yes, thats right

  • @hollow5150 False

  • @hollow5150

There are many tiny people that can play screaming high.... I also know a few female tuba players that can kick the poop out of some large male tuba players.

Its how you use what you've got....

  • looks like "The Boss's" style of plying isnt dead just yet :D

  • 2:23 Good hehehe..

  • amazing song, amazing background, amazing soloist, unamazing guy in the beginning

  • its true what they say,you can understand music in any language lol

  • holy shit 3:22

I was never that into star trek but the jazz interpretation of this song gives me chills

  • @Valcarion if you watch the show, this was the way the song was back in 66-67

  • @Valcarion

Just so you know, this isn't Jazz, it's Disco.

  • @Rinuvien It's jazz, man. All Disco was was spiced up, House styled, Jazz.

I mean, sure if you want to be super technical, yeah it's disco, but I'm pretty sure most would agree that Jazz is also applicable.

  • WOW, such a familier song...I didn't think it was going to give me chills. Very good arrangement and production. Turn this one up!

  • Sammo Hung kicks major ass on the trumpet !

  • @DancingSpiderman lol what does sammo have to do with it

  • @Bleach4canada Eric M looks just like Sammo Hung to me. We have a saying here in 'merka, but I don't wanna sound like a bigot, so I won't mention the famous saying.

Why are you named Bleach4canada? Aren't all Canadians basically already very pale skinned?!?

  • @DancingSpiderman Sammo did get a bit fatter. I havent been keeping up haha.

Bleach is just some anime. Im asian canadian

  • @Bleach4canada A Bleach fan. Cool.

Don't worry, I respect both Eric and Sammo.

  • Mr Miyashiro is wonderful. .but i sure miss mayanard ...

  • Awesome!!!

  • incredible stamina and tone

  • damn we need to get just the song, instead of the asian guy before and after.

  • Anyone got Sheet music for this?

  • Eric not only plays like Maynard, he's starting to put on the pounds like 'the Boss'

  • @vinny6737 Yeah, it's good to not half-ass the imitation, he has the chops and the girth of Maynerd.

IMO, I much prefer to listen to Eric; he knows not to jack-off the vibrato. Eric knows good use of vibrato.

  • Smooth and Fantastic!!!

  • Smooth and Fantastic!!!

  • if you play the trumpet the way he was playing it when he first started playing the valves will start to stick and it can f up the valves but amazing performance

  • sounds like the arrangement might even be the same as Maynard's...was it Jay Chattaway?

  • it is the same version that maynard does, with a few differences.
