  • I loved Farner and GFR's (early) music. But now Mark wants to be the new Engelbert Humperdinck. What a LOUSY song. WTF. This is what cheap did to him. Watch out Tom Jones

  • @47tooter~I AGREE! AXL ROSE COULD ONLY DREAM OF BEING AS GREAT AS MARK FARNER!

  • meh

  • wow good times and memories

  • My dad grew up listening to GFR and got me listening to it. We saw Mark playing at Hippie Fest back in August here in San Diego. My dad has known him personally since 1988 and they're in contact. I am so lucky I got to meet Mark at the sound check before the show. He's such a nice guy. To him we're his friends more than his fans. My sister was born on Mark's birthday in 1989 and if she was a boy, my dad was going to name her Mark. lol I hope to see him again.

  • I listened to Grand Funk in junior high and high school. This is my all time favourite song of theirs. I saw them live in 1996 and again in 2003 and was very disappointed that they did not play this song at either concert. All of their songs were great and true to their 70s greatness. Not hearing Bad Time was disappointing.

  • @NickInDetroit Did a tour in Indy, about 1997 or so, and it wasn't an enormous venue, but big enough. We had great seats, I could feel my ribs shaking from the bass, they were doing all the other good ones, but in between songs, I was screaming at the top of my lungs "BAD TIME"!!!! They finally did it!! I would have been so disappointed like you!! I love this one!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • A god song is a good song. get over it

  • i loved GFR but what the F*** is this song? How do u go from Heartbreaker, I'm Your Captain, I Can Feel in the Morning, etc.... to this freaking dreadful song?

"We became a commercialized band. We're coming to your town. We'll help you party it down coz we're a commercialized band."

  • This is definitely one of my all-time forever favorite songs. I have been searching for this and, at last, I found it. I loved this song immediately upon hearing it. It is just a super song. Everything about this just appeals to me...what can I say?! I LOVE THIS SONG. Thank you for this wonderful post.

  • grand funk stevie ray and steve miller in hall please

  • grank funk stevie ray and steve miller in hall please

  • WHY THE HELL WHEN I WRITE BAD TIME IN THE SEARCH BOX IT SAYS (BAD TIME TO FART). Stupid youtube!!!

  • @JohnnyRebb32

There is a funny clip of a comedy skit entitled that...it has well over a million hits and worth watching. With so many hits it comes up first

  • @JohnnyRebb32 i don't now how you are getting that! you also have to include the name of the group for any song.

  • megali malakia ntanouko!

  • I picked a bad time m'self.

  • i like

  • They were slighted again this year!

  • This IS the best song EVER and so is I'm your captain!!!! Man I wish u could come up with MORE sounds like those 2!!!!

  • love THIS...THINK OF MY YOUNG DAYS...

  • I just know this song due to Guns N' Roses

  • I really like this song ,ever!!!!!!!!

  • Released in the spring of 1975

  • Boy! When I was 17 this song hooked me and dragged me down every dirt road in town. For a band that became famous for its long versions, I always felt this song ended much too soon. Still do.

  • ขอบคุณที่ฮัมเพลงนี้ให้ฟัง ในห้องสังคม :D

  • I may crack jokes about GFR esp, for questionable stage wardrobe choices of the 70's but they are a great band!

  • ดวงใจฉันรักเธออ !!

  • Haha, I saw Mark a few months ago. He explained about how he came to write this song. He told the story of his crazy ex wife and how she chased him with a butcher knife. I guess that would make it a bad time to be in love, huh?

  • Great fucking band!

Buenos tiempos aquellos.

  • im here because of GNR

  • @florjonas96 Me too! Axl was singing this song before Sweet Child O'mine! Miss the old GNR!

  • Great memory from Super CFL in Chicago!! That piano...hamburgers and Mustangs and Camaros--oh my!!!

  • That started me thinking about getting a Trans Am . . . as time went by, years and years later . . . I eventually owned a few of them . . . and still have a warm place in my heart for the venerable Buick GS -- the fastest muscle car of all time, enhanced in performance and fun by listening to Bad Time by Grand Funk Railroad.

  • While the song continued to play, I chased the two speeding cars, they were going over 100 mph in almost no time.

We slalomed through the Kettle Moraine area on the way to West Bend . . . .

The next day, I went to pick up my girlfriend Mary Jo Eberle from her job at the Northridge Mall. A co-worker needed a ride home and lived near me, so she rode along in the back of the Gran Sport.

Again, this song comes on the radio and we all liked it -- the co-worker said she would love a Trans Am!

  • Bad Time, what an awesome tune!

I loved the song and when it came out I really enjoyed hearing it on the radio. I went down to the local shopping plaza, Capitol Court in Milwaukee, and bought a copy of the 45 rpm record.

One day as I was driving my '69 Buick GS, the song came on the radio, WOKY - The Mighty 92 AM, just as I was merging onto the expressway at the end of the ramp.

Suddenly, woosh - woosh! Two speeding Pontiac Trans Am cars zoomed past, one blue and the other one white!

  • heard this the first time in 1981.........

  • Still sounds great Mark!

  • My favorite song in 2nd Grade, and still one of my all-time favorites. Great classic song!

  • @bluzharplady Okay, now you're just making me feel old. I was enjoying this song in middle school while you were living your stress free youth.

  • @cannine57, wow! What a great ending to an incredible story. I envy you my friend. Take care of each other. Thanks for sharing your story.

  • @cannine57, the power of one song can bring back such a wonderful memory. What ever happened to the girl? If you don't mind me asking.

  • @aimeemannfan2010 4 months after that day we broke up. The previous 9 months we always talked to each other every day if only just to say hi. The pain of not seeing or talking to her was hard. A week later I swallowed my pride and decided to call her. What was odd was when I reached for the phone, it rang and it was her and she was feeling the same feelings I was. There is a lodge in that state park . 6 years ago we watched our daughter get married there.

  • @cannine57 I got choked up reading your story--no joke. That is beautiful, man! Music is such a powerful, wonderful gift, and so much of it is interwoven in the thread of life. May you and your little family always be blessed!

  • This song reminds me of the day after prom in high school 1975. My girlfriend and I spent the day hiking in a state park. I was a getting ready to graduate with big plans of my own. Being with her was as close to heaven as it gets. Needless to say my plans changed. I'll never forget those beautiful green eyes, dark hair and that sweet voice.

  • @cannine57

Oh, that is a very touching anecdote -- what happened -- I hope that you and your sweet girlfriend stayed together.

  • @doboyle1955 36 years and two children later...her eyes are still as green and beautiful as ever.

  • This song reminds me of when I lived in San Diego CA, in 1975

  • My God I Love This Song!!!!!!!! Peaked at #4? i was there listening in 1975 and it should have been #1!!! maybe because its too short...should have been much longer!

  • My God I Love This Song!!!!!!!!

  • one of my favorite all time vocal performances

  • GF hit #4 in Bilboard, 6-7-75. God bless ya, brother Mark Farner. Thanx for postin' it!

  • You could did this song at your Hood get together or senior prom.

  • A truly great pop song from a year that grew them like weeds!

  • What a great old song. Awesome.

  • Here i am at my pc with my grandson whos 5 years old playing the drums with a couple of #2 pencils on my desk singing right along with grandpa..Is that cool or what. Just goes to show you a classic for all ages!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thirty-five years later, this song brings back the exact same feelings. Very few of us have never "been there"--being in love at a bad time.

    Thanks for posting--merry Christmas!

  • I just can't put my finger on what exactly amazes me about this song. He sings "I'm in love" in four successive phrases of the song and each time the stress sounds different ... as if some clever rhythm progression is taking place. Then it culminates in the completion of a musical thought. I find it delightful every time, and wish I knew exactly what is going on.

  • I'm 56 years old and it's hard to believe so much time has passed since these songs were new.Do they sound just as good to young persons as they still do for us?What I still cannot get quite used to is that when these songs are currently taped being performed by the origional artists ,they're all old guys singing them. There was "THEN" and "NOW",and what happened in between seems to have never ocurred at all.Yeah...a long strange trip indeed !

  • @DANGITPEPE I'm half your age and loved this song from the first listen. It just sounds amazing. Music today just doesn't have this kind of feeling and emotion.

  • i cant listen to this song without listening 10 or 15 times in a row. wow memories and oh yea, dont play this song in front of any woman in yer life hahahahahahhaha

  • -

    For DEE DEE

    Memories?

  • @gerkins1 There was also someone named Dede in my life; to say she was special is an understatement. While she was married and nothing ever happened between us, I'll never forget her. There's never been anyone like her, before or since.

  • The Jayhawks version of this song is pretty good. Look for it on youtube.

  • Why didn't critics like Grand Funk Railroad, I don't understand...

  • dang great song! How could 4 folks dislike it? Billboard's #61 song for '75. God bless ya, brother Mark Farner!

  • Really love his guitar.,

  • Wow what a GREAT SONG!!!!! Brings back lots of fond memories....how come todays music doesn't have bands like Grand Funk anymore???. Mark Farner is the MAN!!!

  • Guns n' Roses, 1992 year, Tokyo... just before Sweet Child O' Mine Axl sings the intro of this song...

  • saw this guy in love in the 70's, check out his vid from N.J. he still kicks ass!!!! Fantastic voice!

  • ดวงใจฉันรักเธอ

  • I had a girlfriend who loved this song back in 75 or so....I was a GFR snob and would only listen to their early stuff, i.e. "Inside Lookin Out" etc....then I fell in love with her....she should have been the poster child of girls of the 70's.....god I love this song!!

  • I was in my early 20's then wen i think back if we as young adults wood have looked at the big picture things wood have bin totallt different we never listen to our parents or for that matter anyone who has bin thru live every generation is basically the same, take it from a old man and try to look down the road 20 yrs things have a tendacy to work themselves out.

  • This song has it all: Tremendous vocal, outstanding guitar riffs, and a mesage that is universal. It hits dead-on. Keep rap, gimme rock!

  • Why can't we have this type of music dominating the airways instead of the "CRAP" played now? BABY BOOMER MUSIC ROCKS FOREVER!!
