I have a quick question, how was the Thermaltake Spinq for tempatures, since it pushes air through the turbine and out the side, does it just cause a mess for the airflow or does it keep it nice and cool?
@YearZer02022 the spin q was a bad choice on my part. The airflow is a disaster it disperses air all around the case and doesn't do much cooling at all, the turbine fan is pretty much the only thing cooling it and what good is it if it constantly sucks up the hot air it just vented. At that time i probably should have gotten a TRUE 120 or something of the like which is way more effective than the spin q.
Yeah sure my config is a little different now but i'll tell you what it was. Haf 932 case, ultra x3 1000w psu, core i7 920, asus p6t deluxe v2, 6gb corsair xms 1600mhz ram nvidia gtx 295 x2, western digital velociraptor 300gb, lite-on dvd/cd reader, thermalrite ultra extreme 120 heatsink. Hope you have fun building and enjoying if you do intend to build
@wildstyle92 where do you learn all this stuff? PC gaming is my favorite but my computer cant really run many games to well. its just store bought. all these things your saying and all the parts and etc.. where can i learn about what items are best and what not.
@Thoraxe555 honestly I just watched a bunch of YouTube vids and began reading pc magazines about building pcs as far as getting good parts you'll need to set a budget and then do some extensive research on which parts are the best in your price range almost anyone can build a computer if they really want to it's not very complicated hope I helped
@Thoraxe555 Its just really expensive and complicated legos... Go to newegg.com and build some pretend systems. Learn all the terminology.
You'll probably see alot of people saying that overclocking can damage your components. It can, but if you watch your temperatures you can push it as far as the part will physically allow. Setting the voltage too high can damage your components even if you have low temps. I would say never add more than a 10th of a volt.
hey do you recommend any cpu coolers? Im running a phenom II x4 965 @ stock 3.4ghz and its averaging around 44 degrees. Although i think this may be the fault of my badly cooled case, i think i might get a cpu cooler cos i think that temp is too high. what do u think?
For am3 coolers i would recommend the zalman cnps10x extreme 120mm or the noctua nh-u12p se2 and if you have enough case real estate the tuniq tower 120 extremecr-t120-ex-bk the noctua allows for a push-pull setup so if you get two good fans like scythe ultra kaze or even slipstreams the cooler should help with the temps. hope i helped any
what do u think on the coolermaster v8? i am also considering the thermalrite ultra 120 and the titan fenrir i have heard both are very good value. what do u think? thanks
right now i replaced my spin q with the thermalright ultra extreme with a push pull setup using two scythe slipstream and my temps have never gotten higher than 67c at full load i guess is pretty good considering my i7 is clocked at 4.43. so personally i would go with the thermalright but the fenrir is also a good option. im just not a fan of the v8 and the performance of the stock fan included.
I was looking for that one to but after looking up the ratings and reviews on hardwarecanucks it didnt perform very well compared to a thermalright trueblack
The mobo is the asus p6t and it's 239.99 depending where you getting it from you can probably find it cheaper elsewhere and I actually recommend the evga x58 sli le edition I'm assuming your buying a core i7
lolz no the i7's are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much ($500) no thanks i rather get an AMD Black edition quad core 3.2GHZ for $180 and this motherboard is not amd its intel =( nice rig though
Oh lol sry well for an amd build I would reccommend the msi nf980-g65 Or the asus m4a79t deluxe they're between 160$ & 190$ but if you're looking for something on abudget I also reccommend the gigabyte ga-ma790gp-ud4h that's about 115$ hope I helped any :)
i completely and utterly agree with you... sadly i learned that when my cpu died T_T and as a result of overclocking, my mobo crapped out as well. Now i have to find a way to get a new cpu and mobo.
God i wanted to PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE when you told me that. LOLOLOL. Sexy RIG!!!!! Guess whaaa! i finished mine!!!! No where NEAR as High end as yours but it's my FIRST rig, remember! lol
I swapped out some parts you suggested. and put in the Quad Core 9950 OC'd to 3.2 , 4 gigs G.Skill, 320 HDD, and a ATI 4870. :D gonna buy another one when school starts to Cross fire it.
those 295's are like £350 each you lucky mother fucker lol. Does ur rig not get dusty, with my rig im struggling to keep it clean for more then 2 weeks. Im using the antec 900.
excellent rig, loved the video. I have the same case and mine (although it isnt the same components) looks alot like yours. Your cable management is just fine, really. I don't have a single LED in my case, they do nothing for me. I just have 3 15" white cold-cathodes that are turned off most of the time, except if I want to inspect my case I turn them on and shower it with simple white-light.
U might need to turn off the music, cause all i can hear is that. i could think ure like advertising ur style of music that u like, but people want to hear u not the background.( or at least the background sound could be reduced) It is a nice video Imao, 2x295gtx fit here pretty nicely .
I deciding on a mobo, and I'm wondering if I should get the EVGA X58 SLI LE, or the EVGA X58 Micro? and wat does it mean if the board is or is not SLI Ready?
SLI ready means you can run at least 2 video cards together (nvidia, not ati...ati's dual gpu technology is called CrossfireX, dont get them confused.). Pretty much any new mobo you buy now is SLI ready, dual or tri options.
Hey man, im going to SLI 2 GTX 280 OC cards, now, i've SLI'd before but with room to spare between the cards, my new motherboard sandwitches the cards togther, is there any chance of the top card overheating the bottom card or vice versa?, thanks.
there's always a risk of the cards heating each other but it all really depends on your case's air flow. If you're comfortable with your rig's setup than it should be fine. If you're a little concerned if possible add in some more fans. my case has 6 120 mm fans 1 230 mm fan and 1 140 mm fan and its able to keep the cars at around 40-55 degrees celcius when playing games. I hoped this helped you at all.
I have a cosmos s, cooler master makes awsome cases..so i should be fine..my POS mobo just died on me..like 5mins ago!, haha, oh well gotta figure some shit out.
so how do you like your spin q? thats the reason i came across this video. im looking to put my new i7 chip under one of those and do some mid-ranged overclocking. are you happy with the performance of yours?
honestly i guess it's okay for mild overclocking like 2.66 to 3.2 but anything more you should get something better since it dissipates the hot air in and around the case instead of going through the exhaust fan in the back. Overall case temps might run high if you overclock higher. i hope this helps you out in your decision.

shouldn't you have the heat sink facing up or out the back? maybe that'll help lower temps a bit. nice rig though, wish i could afford that
