err Tommy is not fingerstyle guitarist, usually at least. acoustic guitarist is right though.

Anyway, I find Kotaro being the "soft" guitarist out of the "Big Four"-Dufour,McKee,Ross,Kotaro (that term's from metal lol) the other 3 mostly play faster, more aggressive stuff than him. That's what I think. =)

@Yip1991 You can actually buy the tab from amazon.co.jp. that album Starting Point also has Merry Christmas Mr.Lawrence, Fantasy, Hard Rain,... If u have difficulties with Jap just use Google Chrome or Google Translate. I myself bought 4 tab books =D they are really good. cheers

I think it's a shame that so many comments on the "original" versions/vids/songs of songs that Sungha has covered are about him vs the original and becomes a discussion about how good sungha is vs the author or what his talent level is. Please take that shit somewhere else. It's getting really god damn old.

@keffbanan I agree with you, and I also agree with someone who said they think sungha has just been marketed very well. Sungha is a fabulous guitarist, but it's not like he's the only kid in the world that knows how to play music. Many wonderful child musicians are just kept out of the limelight

The little guy is really good for his age, but he isn't yet able to convey emotions through his playing. The way he plays right now is just as a child would play, though admittedly in an even more skilled manner than many adults. He'll be pretty amazing in a few years though.

I've been attending music school for about 5 years a long time ago. Sungha is no different to any other typical children. In fact, some children are even better than him in terms of playing music with emotions. I'm sorry to say this but there is nothing so special about Sungha.

You are most probably right. A lot of the Sungha stuff has been hyped up. I find the difference between Sungha and other kids his age is that he has been marketed very well and therefore gets to meet many talented artists older than himself. Making these connections at such a young age will allow him to easily become a professional musician should he choose that path and make it much easier for him to be successful.

depends on what u like. kotaro has more of a softer sound ex. oasis where as mckee is more aggressive ex. drifting i bet if he could mckee would slap the guitar to pieces

Personally, I feel he is better than Andy Mckee, Tommy Emmanuel and all the other great fingerstyle guitarists, in overall terms of feeling and technique. Don't get me wrong, they are amazing guitarists too, but Kotaro Oshio is just.. unique.

I definitely agree, as amazing as Andy McKee and Tommy are, I personally feel Andy's music doesn't have the same type of soul and Tommy's music is just nice, but Kotaro combines skill, technique and heart in all his pieces.

Man Kotaro Oshio is way too underrated. More people need to know about this guy. His music and arrangements are just too beautiful. And the way he uses alternate tunings is just amazing. The perfect blend of technicality and art.
