There is evidence for the historical Jesus Christ, including his life, death, and resurrection. I would recommend reading “The Case for Christ” by Lee Strobel for an initial overview of the evidence.
Matthew Chapman’s “The Ledge” should not be considered a landmark movie for the atheist movement in any way. Actually, I do not think there will ever be a landmark atheist movie. This is simply because the common public understands that belief in a god ultimately is not the product of dramatic theological persuasion but of authentic faith. Trying to sway people towards atheism with a one-sided script, such as in “The Ledge”, is contrived and comes across as ridiculous to the audience.

"the invention of lying", "creation", "agora", "the second coming", "the mosquito coast", hell, even "pirates of the carribean: on stranger tides" took some biting shots at religion. the "matrix" films did it allegorically, and it was always veiled behind the "star trek" tv series, and rather prominent in "star trek 5".
films like "the book of eli", "einstein and eddington", "saved", "leap of faith", "devil's advocate", "stigmata", and "oh, god" have made some very stinging criticisms of fundamentalist religion, though in a way that spared moderates their fair share. more is great, but this has been around a long time.
@neomp5 Of the movies you listed, I have only seen one; 'Creation' was NOT an atheist movie. It was offensive in its presentation of Huxley as an abominable troll, and its assertions about Darwin hallucinating the ghost of his daughter. Dennet's biographical movie of 'Darwin's Dangerous Idea' was much better.
those are points about its historical inaccuracies, not about its central message. "agora" is inaccurate too, with most of the running plots simply made up, that doesn't change the message it tries to convey.

I love how they discuss how horrible it is that "moderate" Muslims don't react to extremists in their camp. Then the host likens Pat Robertson to Muslim terrorists and plainly calls for Robertson to be removed from the airwaves for speaking his beliefs. The director, who makes his living off of free speech just smiles and concurs. He doesn't react to the extremist point-of-view of the host.
Who says that atheists must like homophilia? I don't think the society should promote any other sexual drives than heterosexuality. Adult humans trying to procreate with the same gender, animals or prepubecent children have a distorted sex drive. Promoting that is like promoting schizophrenia or other mental illnesses. I believe that our different sexual preferences is a way for nature to secure genetical diversity, and in some individuals gone to extremes where they cannot reproduce with their subjects of desire. Procreation is not the only quality that should be considered here. As long as there is love between two CONSENTING adults, then I really don't see what the problem is.

Matthew Chapman’s “The Ledge” should not be considered a landmark movie for the atheist movement in any way. Actually, I do not think there will ever be a landmark atheist movie. This is simply because the common public understands that belief in a god ultimately is not the product of dramatic theological persuasion but of authentic faith. Trying to sway people towards atheism with a one-sided script, such as in “The Ledge”, is contrived and comes across as ridiculous to the audience.

A number of students had to fight tooth and nail to be allowed to set up this group because the University was afraid that such a society might 'upset' the religious students.

the first? i've seen lots of spectacular atheistic films. "the invention of lying", "creation", "agora", "the second coming", "the mosquito coast", hell, even "pirates of the carribean: on stranger tides" took some biting shots at religion. the "matrix" films did it allegorically, and it was always veiled behind the "star trek" tv series, and rather prominent in "star trek 5".

It was offensive in its presentation of Huxley as an abominable troll, and its assertions about Darwin hallucinating the ghost of his daughter. Dennet's biographical movie of 'Darwin's Dangerous Idea' was much better.

I believe that our different sexual preferences is a way for nature to secure genetical diversity, and in some individuals gone to extremes where they cannot reproduce with their subjects of desire.
