  • Many people don't believe that this has been happening since the birth of this nation & before then. The true images of these events have been transformed into action pack movies that most people miss grasping the point. America has afflicted its own so its not hard to materialize the terror it does to others. The valueless goods that they die for are not worth the death the price for greed is death though but they tell them they fight for righteousness & justice but they lie in the name of God.

  • Can we get some protest going people. lets get out there and protest this shit

i am in Illinois anyone else up for it... They wont stop this war unless majority of us show up and make them... So stop watching videos and lets do something about it.

  • I have to disagree with Dr. King on one powerful point spoken at 1:40 referencing our 'military defense' spending… our military is not defensive, it is obviously offensive.

I suggest that when the bully becomes so disproportionately, monstrously huge and so powerful that he can threaten anyone with impunity - we can no longer consider his military spending 'defensive' - the U.S.A. military budget became 'OFFENSIVE' long ago, and becomes more and more 'offensive' by the day.

  • What is the name of this speech?

  • @perilthinking I think its called "A time to break silence". The full speech is available here on youtube.

  • wow this is one of the most powerful speeches i have ever heard

  • @TOM66666

And REMEMBER, ppl of Germany thought they were being patriotic by supporting their admin in power too....NO,it was those who risked and gave their lives to oppose war and help the oppressed were heros and patriots. I used to think that the germans were stupid for falling for it...... you know what? ..... MAINSTREAM Americans seem much much worse.

  • @ManyColorsOfLight

You are correct he people in the United States are brainwashed by the Media and criminal politicos.

  • Martin had our Imperial War-mongering government pegged. So so sad!!!!!!!!!!! WAR is EVIL. When will the Military-Industrial complex that owns the United States of America see this!

  • What would Americans themselves feel, seeing their houses burned? The rifles touching their own heads? I would like to see that, because now most of them are laughing over those in Middle East, but it would they who would become slaves of the enemy laughter.

  • @vendetta007mike there are many things that come into play when war is on, we lived in diffenrent terms during the vietnam war. it was a premature war, based on afraid of communism and excuses to show strengh and power to the soviets. Now that we have come to terms we see things differently the war in the middle east was not start by the U.S. The middle east is a complex one remember to stay at top you must show your at top, but with good intentions.

  • @victormunoz No, the ME 'wars" were not started by the US but they were also not started by the countries the US has invaded and is fighting against. I highly suggest you delve a bit deeper, MLK's word are actually MORE relevant today than they were back then. RIP

  • @vendetta007mike You have to think far enough to envision the tables turned. I think that is one of the points MLK was trying to teach us (which we obviously never learned). To try to view America from the outside, how we must look to outside nations and their points of view. We tend to be a very sheltered society where most people actually believe the entire world thinks like us, acts like us and questions as little as we do.

  • Thank you Norman Solomon, for bringing us this message in the words of Martin Luther King, and for the work that you continue to do in bringing this much needed message to the American people today.

  • If America had not involved the war, South Vietnam would have fallen into communism in 1954 and more Vietnamese would have been murdered in cultural revolutions like those launched by Mao in China (20 million deaths) and Khmer Rouge in Cambodia (2 millions)

Total Vietnamese democide by communists:1,040,000 (1975-87) by UNHCR

    Executions: 100,000

    Camp Deaths: 95,000

    Forced Labor: 48,000

    Democides in Cambodia: 460,000

    Democides in Laos: 87,000

    Vietnamese Boat People: 500,000 deaths.

  • @TOMP66666 BS!

  • It is too bad that the Americans do not

    have a political guideline or

constitution of some type to guide

    their leadership.

    Did Brad and Angelina split?

    omg

    peace

Please see my Favorites as for

    my words.

  • I hate the usa administration they bring only war and death arround the earth !

  • i'd ratter afirm that i believe in the strenght and will of the americans as we all are the people.. in a world each day with less bounderys, we must beggin to behave as brothers.. we will give you a hand as humans, and men and women that, understand opression, and deception and lies, and brutallity and crimes, we understand you like the most opressed and lied to people.. We can not hate you, we know u are not.. Dont let them, seed the hatred on you. its time when only unity will save us

  • @lightEDiode Well said. It is only until and UNLESS we as Americans begin to see other cultures and nations as ONE with us (humanity) that we can begin to settle our differences in a just and civilized way. Stooping down to the level of those we choose to vilify is ignorant and pointless. It's quite unfortunate that these sorts of videos/speeches of MLK don't get the air time the haters seem to get. I think the media is going to have a lot to answer for one day.

  • gotta put in order who runs the american government the banking elites run it. they call for war and death and they get it no matter were their greedy little fingers are.. I hate the usa administration as well. Im a canadian and the bankers run our government as well

  • @GrandadmiralThakain War is bad, but I believe we can do some good in afghanistan by constructing new houses and most important schools, but when the obstructor obstruct the good for the country and kills civilans and american forces then war is justified, war is bad, but to end evil and protect ourself from evil we must act and at the same time unite and prosper those who we hurt and elimnate those who run from justice.

  • its weird how the two of them where shot by assassins we kill the good people and let the demons run a muck[ bill hicks]

  • Veritas Vos Liberabit

  • "a nation the contiguous upon putting more into military defense than on social uplift is approaching spiritual death"

    wow.

  • ... "can't we all just get along" ... Its not easy getting along. "Our differances don't matter only our simularitys do"

  • They never teach you about these beliefs of Martin luther King in schools . . . . I wonder why!!!

  • actually they do teach us when we are kids, it's complete bullshit they put Martin Luther King next to Washington and Lincoln in our curriculum... a great man no doubt, but he was a speechmaker and a good organizer, that's all

  • I don't remember being taught about him being a pacifist/anti-war activist and how he was strongly against the Vietnam War.

And I think he is FAR GREATER than Lincoln!!!

  • Why? Lincoln was our greatest president, he may have been a good organizer and good speechmaker as well but past that he was a self-taught genuis, he fough a war to preserve the union and end slavery when it would've been easier to let the south secede, he was a maniac depressive but nobody could ever say an ill word about him and he was always a man that shared a joke or two...

Luther King was a good man, but not anything as great as these men... and no, we learned about "I have a dream"

  • Well, I am opposed to him "preserving the Union" (using military force to crush The South). Keep in mind that I oppose what the South did as well. Lincoln also suspended the writ of Habeaus Corpus and threw anyone in jail who was opposed to his policies.

I honor the peaceful, not the tyrannical.

  • Tyrannical? Exactly the opposite. He was the founder of the Republican party, and with bandits running across the North wreaking havok he did what he could to protect the people.

    Whatever, I completely disagree.

  • They never mention this speech from Martin Luther King for the same reason they never mention Abraham Lincoln's personal war against banks controlling the country.

  • And in the case of Iraq 2, MLK would not be saying the same things about the way we fight terrorism today so that propaganda aspect of the film is disingenuous.

Putting words in a dead man's mouth is easy with a mac, eh?

  • And why is it you only seem to care about Iraqis after they can vote when they are free from a BRUTAL dictator who put people through plastic shredders, dug mass graves for his opponents and killed MILLIONS of Iraqis. Iranians too if you decide they matter.

You care about Iraqi lives but only when American ones are at stake? How noble of you.

And if we only left 'uncle saddam' alone nothing bad would have ever happened in Iraq... Keep your head in the sand...

  • Listen up, President Obama

  • sad :(

  • Absolutely a magnificent video!!! Now we must act and not just let these words go in vien.

  • from vietnam to iraq and where do we go from here??(IN THE LASY DAYS??)1Thessalonians5:3 .for when they say peace and safety then shall sudden destruction come upon them= the lost..in the world without Christ Jesus.plzbeready for His return brothers and sisters.!!

  • A quote from one of George Bush's dead mentors..."The people can always be brought to the bidding of their leaders. All you have to do is tell them that they are in danger of

being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger".... Hermann Goering (1893 - 1946)

Ahhh..THE POWER OF FEAR! Who can resist it? Not George Bush or his like, that's for sure.

TRUE LEADERS LIKE DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING RESISTED NOT FROM BEHIND THE PEOPLE BUT INFRONT!(RIP)

  • wow

and all i was told of was I HAVE A DREAM

    what a man

    Bravo Dr. King

  • They stopped him first. Like they stopped JFK.

    Brave upright people.

But the trend is for a United Nations of the World. The World Empire will come.

Because there are those who aspire their nation be Great.

"Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever." (Napoleon Bonaparte)

Don't ask what the Empire can do for you. Ask how you can die for the new Holy Roman Empire!

Anyway, I am to understand Bush was forced to invade Iraq because Saddam refused dollars for the oil!

    Patriot

  • the truth.

  • Dr. King owned Bush.

  • Watch it here

    v=Z26uO4taSIs

  • good job irishbeermonster i agree with you. his comment leads me to a very intresting hypothesis that monkeys CAN type

  • Just wanted to write something so that the previous poster isn't the first thing you read in the comments.

  • It's terrible that this speech is as pertinent today as it was back then. He is right, the initiative must be ours.

  • Organize and take back your government.

You the people have been railroaded. Shut out from influencing the policy of YOUR government.

When someone like Dick Cheney says "so?" in response to public opinion polls that overwhelmingly express support to begin withdrawing from Iraq you know that we have much to do.

MLK is not a holiday but the epitome of what it means to be American.

  • Is this his riverside Church speech? (Why I am opposed to the war in vietnam0.

This speech is probably one of teh more overlooked speeches of his. This speech is relevent today as it was at that time

  • Dr. King's most important speech. Probably got him killed in the process. Everyone needs to hear these words.

    Remove, Impeach, and Jail

  • You will be the rule falls are seeing your end, down USA country racist murderer, infamous, illiterate, liar...minutemen dead.

The soldiers who make up the Spaniards who love thirds are more honored that the life, death and fear less the infamy. Do not forget 1898

  • Dr. Martin Luther King....he was a great visionary...

  • But this madness was happening then and the American people were not listening and they didn't do anything. I'm so afraid they won't do anything again and there won't be anything left this time.

  • The people did do something, and people still are doing things. It only appears that people arent doing anything because we live in such a fragmented society.

  • The speech in the video is called "Beyond Vietnam", in my opinion King's greatest speech (outside of "I Have A Dream").

  • that has to be the most poerful clip i've seen... the images with the MLK Jr.'s oratory resonate through my computer screen.

    wow

  • to think that mlk spoke those words about 35 or 40 years ago.. look where we are today.. farther down the path of tyranny..

'when a crime of this nature has been committed, silence is complicity..'

  • This is great, all our Martin Luther Kings never get media coverage because most of the media is owned by the big nobs.

  • where is martin luther king when the world needs him so...

  • it is truly sad that the usa is spending $10 billion dollars a month on the war in iraq...mlk's words ring louder than ever...

    keep the peace,

    freesouljah

  • Totally agreed ~

  • Don't be so typically naive

Sure, war mad easy has some cold hard facts, but it also has some exxagerations and fictatious claims.

Just because something is far left doens't mean it's right and just because something is far right doens't mean it's wrong

move away from terms like republican and democrat

  • totally true. They're like WWF wrestling. Fake.

  • What does that clip have to do with left or right?

  • What does that clip have to do with left or right?

  • have you seen the movie?

  • Like I said, what does that particular clip have to do with left or right?

  • very moving video
