@nitroflesh No actually. Ray's website sells it at the same price as anywhere else (£10, a little cheaper than some places actually). The downside is that it only sells the carbon-steel version, without the choice of the stainless-steel.
I did find one place selling it for £1 less though, guess where I'm buying mine from ;)
@nitroflesh You're welcome :) I get the impression that Ray's just a nice guy who wants to help people get into bush-craft and survival rather than make a fortune off selling things. Also I suppose that he's paid a fair bit for his TV stuff.
@nitroflesh I much prefer Ray to bear but to be fair to bear the range of gerber survival knifes he has out are pretty decent for the price also. I do recommend having a look at them :)
It's surprising and pisses me off that so many people think just coz someone has tats on their hands it must mean they are low life scum and have no views worth listening to.
You dont know his life or his background so stop assuming you are better than him just by the way he looks. Narrow minded fuckwits.
Nice one.... ignore the idiots mate. I have been looking at getting one of these knives, think I will spend 5 mins scrapping that RM signature off though.
Have a look at the Mora 510 available there now, best £12 I've spent on kit, similar to this but a deeper tang and came razor sharp from the packet, I was amazed to be able to shave 1mm slithers of paper up to 20cm away from my hand without it tearing!
Nice knife mate, i have a question. With it being carbon does it rust easy? Like, can you store it in the house as it is, or do you need to oil it to stop the rust?
Cool video. Thanks for posting. I had never heard of the Mora until I walked in to my brother's house this afternoon, and he showed it to me. I asked what he paid for it, and I dropped that amount onto his coffee table. I kept it and told him to just order another for himself. It was already sharp, but I stropped it. Now, it's the sharpest knife that I've ever had.
I'm from sweden and i own a knife made locally in dalarna... there's an old guy named Robert Mattson there who's an expert in making the steel, he uses the EXACT same intials and design when he marks his blades... way to go Ray copying that. My respect for Ray just sank alot
@Basram i know its 7 months ago but i think this is a genuine mora, ray just sell them and skimm off some of the profit like any retail and also adds his logo. and for mora thats more of a seal of approval. so its a winwin
@Dejavo I like the wood ones better too but I think the rubber on the plastic makes a difference (especially if wet) and adds value to what is already a good knife.
@Dejavo ,i got the Mora 840MG and Mora 711.t has a rubber-like grip.it has the best grip of any knife i ever owned.for me wood as a knife handle is history(Micarta is a whole different story though.very tough stuff).we live in times where we got better options than wood.the new materials produce a much better grip.better ergonomics.but to each their own ...we all differ.
Why don'tyou buyed at Mora of Sweden directly? You save 5 or more....Oh! wash your hands buddy! lol...anyway it's a good knife for the price..except the initials on the sheet..lol..
@burronia if i bought a mora direct from sweden youit would cost me more than here after postage and packing costs and why wash my hands they are tattoos and the initials on what sheet are you on about its called a sheath
these knives are awesome, but the reason they are cheaper than most fixed blades is because they are made in sweden, they are a little thin, and because they are are not full tang. i wouldn't consider them heavy duty by any means, but for bushcraft, you can't find a better knife
No offense, but dont slash at paper it is the most dumb ass thing you can do with a sharp knife, my brother lost the use of his left index and middle fingers because of that.
@ouefvoueeyciow3eutf well your brothers a nob then! slashing paper like that is a test of sharpness... you have to be a complete and utter prick to cut yourself doing that!
Having that much trouble cutting into paper is normal for a factory fresh Mora. A few strops on a stone and it will be much improved. See Mears sharpening videos. Like the green color and the Mears logo.
What the bloody hell did you buy a knife from Ray Mears for? You could have saved a few bob by just buying the Mora direct. Go join the Paras mate and do something constructive with your time.
