So far I've only fed gray jays but that's no challenge, lol. I have four scrub jays visiting my easter basket filled with unsalted peanuts. I really hope to make friends with at least one. Thanks for this video, I'm now hopeful = ) great song choice too ; ) Mary
Not to get picky, but that's not a Blue Jay. It's a Scrub-Jay. The Western Scrub-Jay is nonmigratory and can be found in urban areas, where it can become tame and will come to bird feeders. While many refer to scrub-jays as "blue jays", the Blue Jay is a different species of bird entirely. Cool video though. :-)
Why do they use the word "tame"? If a wild bird gains trust in a human being, I think It should be considered that the bird has made "friends" with us :) Like any other friendship... I mean.... If we gain trust in another human being who was formerly a stranger to us, would we then call that person (our new friend) "tamed"? LOL
