thanks... using the AKC Method, hook grip, or finger lock, is index over thumb. This spares the hand and forearm, keeping you in the set much longer. Without a good finger lock, snatching is limited.
In a hook grip, the fingers encircle the thumb. This video calls just the opposite a hook grip--i.e. the thumb is outside the fingers--which is sometimes called a reverse hook grip. Perhaps they use the terminology differently in girevoy sport?
