  • : I really wish to be born "back in the day". The clothes, the music, the cars, the girls,... everything.

But if I was born 60+years ago, I wouldn't have this feeling and probably not watching this video.

Ow hell, it's 2012, and Bill Haley is still alive and I wouldn't, I'm glad to be born in 1991!

  • geez, I think I saw my dad in there!

  • wish they taught dance in school again..i learnt this in year 4...

  • If that was the dance of today, I would've gone to prom and would actually go out to clubs :D Looks like so much fun!!!!!! Love the music!

  • Damn now those were real parties

  • lucky people.... what crap modern music is. period.

  • now THATS a party!

  • THE MINUTE 0.50 IS THE BEST ... LOVE THIS SECUENCES

  • I would have gone to my prom in 2010 if it was a lot like this video lol but nooope

  • And from what I can see your facts amounted to "White people stink when they dance..." I'm surprised you didn't throw in "some of my best friends are white people."

  • ROFLMAO - So this is take two of "I don't believe I have to either dignify this response with an answer or explain myself to you in any way shape or form."

  • Facts are not racism and you must have been hit in the head really hard as a baby. What I use are my eyes and it tells me all I need to know. Why is it that when the truth be told its referred to as "racism"? You can blow all the steam you wish but this will be the last answer to your post. Only you seem to have this "racism" problem and I will not be a willing participant in any form of it. Have a nice holiday and I will not be answering your whining post any longer

  • DBABA

  • Come down to any number of swing dance events around the country and I guarantee you you'll find all kinds of dancers of all colors and races who will easily dance rings around you. Because the one thing that's clear, as I said before, is that you'll never get it...and never will.

  • I'm sorry but than again I am not. White people stink when they dance, how many times did one of them try that Lindy Hop and fell? What the hell is it with the sound of the shoes on the floor? You guys just don't get it and never will now if you want to see real dancing than you should look at the swing scene in "Hellzapoppin". That was a great movie, these guys here just irk my last moving nerve!! YOU STINK!!

  • @LakotaSugar Frankie Manning was the lead dancer in Whitey's Lindy Hoppers, the group that did that dance in Hellzappopin....and he was not into hating like you seem to be. He loved all dancers, and taught all dancers -- black, white, yellow, brown, pink, green, and everything in between. And he didn't disparage anyone as not doing "real dancing" because they couldn't match some other dancer's skill level. You're the one that doesn't get it and never will.

  • @sgowriter I really don't believe I have to either dignify this response with an answer or explain myself to you in any way shape or form. The proof is in the pudding and I bet you didn't even look at any of the great dancers of this time period to see you are wrong. I know what I see and I see something really stinky, don't get mad at me because you don't have any rhythm. Since the dawn of time our style, dance and culture has been stolen, face facts, you don't have what it takes. NRTAMP

  • @LakotaSugar And yet here u are both dignifying my response & trying to explain/justify your racism. As a former student of Frankie's and someone who performed with him in the Big Apple Lindy Hoppers u'd lose the bet about me not looking at any of the great dancers of the time; u'd know ur generalization re: white people and rhythm is just as ugly as saying all black people are muggers and rapists. Once again I recommend u be a bit more like Frankie who welcomed all dancers of all colors.

  • Thats why its Little Richard and a lot of pretenders!!!

  • WOW now thats dancing.

  • 2:26 elbow to the head ouch

  • Look at that scrawny, geeky nerd just kickin' ass and takin' names!!! 1:37

    Oww!

  • This is like a Punk Band playing at an illegal Rave circa 1956.... and it's Fucking Stomping! Excellent Stuff!

  • kind of sounds like ELVS but ELVIS is still better.

  • Woah that's so badass, parties today are so boring, crappy music, crappy people, and of course crappy (if you can call it that) dancing... it's kinda sad to say it, but honestly i dont know what i'd do without alcohol.

  • PRICELESS!

  • can anyone post a clean cut of this great hit record,,,,the good old days,,,cheers

  • This is when dancing was concidered dancing stupid fucking little jiggle steps people do at clubs or dance to all this crap little wayne shit!!

  • Best rock n roll band ever.

  • punctured bicycle on a hillside desolate?

  • @MiK3i yup!

  • I get tired just looking at this video, Man how cool it was and these kids were dancing and having fun. That's what it's all about, FUN

  • Wow, that was awesome!

  • I know it looks all 'Teen-Rebels from the 50's' kinda nostalgic stuff but the reality is a bit more mundane. The dancers were all professionally trained, some Ballet... Some contemporary Jazz.... most of them a combination of both. And the whole scene was choreographed to death. But Fuck all that.... it still kicks Ass, and makes great viewing!

  • I. cannot. sit. still. Behold the need to dance :D

    GOTTA DANCE.

  • No cuts, no editing, no CGI! Just real people doing something real!

  • How many of this dancer are alive today, I like see they, sorry my english i speak spanish.

Cuantos de estos bailarines estaran vivos hoy dia, me gustaria verlos !!!

  • At 2:28, the girl with the blonde ponytail on the far left gets an unintentional hard whack in the back by the man just to the right of her. Ouch!

Sometimes all this frantic dance stuff can get you hurt, kids.

  • Now that's dancing!!!

  • C'mon shake it up..........RIP it up!

  • i wasnt born till 66 but watchin this wish i was there brilliant!!!!!!!!!!

  • Awsome clip..Anh damn do they rip it up!

  • The difference between rock and and roll post Beatles and for the past 45 years is the early stuff was happy music or ballots. Today's music is angry music. This clip is full of joy. I love it and miss it. When drugs became vogue starting 1964 music lost its innocence and thus happy music now became counter culture music. For those of us who were priviledged to grow up in this era it was, and remains the greatest period in American history. We were ONE and worked together for the greater good!

  • Nice sentiment. I'm sure you did indeed work together as one.

Unless of course you were black, or gay, or a woman...

  • You are very wrong about that. Black entertainers were accepted in a BIG way as were athletes.( Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, etc.) An important civil rights bill was passed. It was the first time black rock and roll music was played fully on the radio. Amos and Andy was the most popular TV program for 2 years. Black jazz performers flourished such as Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong, Cab Calloway and Ella Fitzgerald etc.

Women For the FIRST TIME ever were starting to get good jobs in the work force.

  • I agree with you. I'm 60 years old I was a child in the 1950's. I was a musician from about 1965 till about 1990. I quit because of of the sorry state of the music business.

  • you are so lucky to have lived in that time. I wish i did !!!

  • Outstanding!

  • wow this is awesome :D :D ! lol really good dancers :D

  • Amazing, and its th real Bill Haley too!

  • Those were the days

  • Yes, yes, I remember it well. I am 71 years old and all that seems like yesterday. I guess that is one reason I am in pretty good condition today as I was always doing the jitterbug, shag or boogie. My,my,my, what fun that was.

  • @esawsboy Mate, if i could dance like that, i wouldnt mind living in that era. you are one lucky bloke!

  • @esawsboy hi you still a life ? your comment was a year ago , i wich nothing bad happen ..

  • Great dancing...too bad there are NO black people in this at all, since they were the primarily responsible for creating this style of music, and these dance moves before they caught on with the larger (white) public in America at the time....but, that's just the 50s for ya..at least people by now, most people (hopefully) know the true history of Rock n' Roll, and what was accepted in the media at then and what was not..but race aside, this still rocks!!

  • right when the dancing starts in the very front is a black guy

how can you say there were none in the video

  • hahahah yeah no, that guy wasn't black at all. :)

  • Even I as a Black man, can see all what you've said doe'snt detract from the fact that the band and music is great or that the Dancers here are excellent!

  • It's called swing dancing now. Look around.

  • You can be them, just look up swing dancing, lindy hop and the like in your area. There's bound to be a swing scene in your area. Also look on swing sites like Yehoodi.

There are people there of every demographic, so just check it out and don't be scared!

  • God I hate the term 'swing dancing'...they're jitterbuggin', ya squares...

  • don't insult Charlie Brown please

  • i wont kid about c.b.anymore. but you can bite my woodstock

  • Oh anybody can dance like that. NOOOOOOT!!!!!!!!

    My favorite Bill Haley song.

  • Did he cover this song?

  • Yes, I'm fairly certain that Little Richard did the original.

  • Both Bill Haley and Little Richard released the song in the same year. I would not really say one was the "original". Bill Haley was as or more original than anyone, including Little Richard.

  • Elvis also recorded Rip it Up, making a neat triperite of legend singing. But Haley's was the best for sheer beat, excitement and pop history innovation.

  • Great. Wonderful...!! Youtube search DISCO 45 and VIVA EL ROCK AND ROLL (Manuel Vargas) and you will see an honoring from Chile to the best music of all times.

  • They are good dancers! I want to dance like that too!

  • The dance style is called Fast Lindy,

    similar to Lindy Hop.

  • I always watch this video!!

  • me too, for a couple of years now haha.

  • lo mejor de las epocas

  • Did anyone notice that Charlie Brown looks like Bill Haley?
