  • one of the best pieces of music ever recorded.

    .

  • turn it up..golden oldie.

  • so sweet !!!reminds me of happier times , wonderful images , i must learn how to do this !!!!

  • SO many happy memories with this tune involved - the greatest prog band to have ever existed xxx

  • Love this song. Explains my thoughts in five minutes.

  • I had a music room..I transferred the land of grey and pink image from the sleeve...in pencil...then water coloured the whole wall...looked cool..

  • take this shit of propaganda, YouTube, already have advertising on the side of the video,

over the video and now a WHOLE VIDEO BEFORE? Go fuck yourself !!!!!!

  • tira essa merda de propaganda, You Tube, ja tem propaganda do lado do video,

em cima do video e agora uma INTERIRA ANTES DO VIDEO? Va se foder!!!!!!

  • i have the album unopened on vinyl is it rare or wat?

  • i still don't understand why this band hasn't got the recognition it deserves!!! i uploaded this tune which for some reason isn't even on youtube, of the love in your eye /watch?v=tJv3cgn0Wxc my favourite :D

  • Sounds like start of Rent-A-Ghost.

  • Brilliant ... Is the way to the Land of Grey and Pink through Middle Earth by any chance?

  • Not their best but I love this band.

  • im not sure if you can hear it on this one but on my copy of this song at the start someone says "we need some more drugs" HAHA!!! its so feint you need full volume :)

  • Awesome! i love this album

    Michele from italy

  • I saw this band at Weeley rock festival in the 70s, and they were gear

  • Returned after ayear to listen again.

One of the best bands ever.

    Never fades away.Brilliant

  • what a beaute!

  • Oh the memories....a handful of shrooms and Caravan or Gong on the stereo. Bliss. Jesus H. I should be past all this....I'm 40 next year and now I'm thinking of trudging around soggy fields in October looking for fungus. :)

  • haha! i just love this! I have my own choreography and everythin! See me on britain's got talent next year lol!

  • One of my favourites. A staple in my play list on Open Mike nights - on accoustic of course. Superb!

  • Just got back to Australia after a trip to the UK, I've been a fan of "Caravan" for years, imagine my surprise to find out that Richard the drummer is my cousin! His mother was my father's sister (fractured family on my side). Richard and I have never met, Hi Richard.

    Jim Danton.

  • Had a couple of Caravan albums as a kid, but hadn't played them for years. 30 years and more on it's finally hit home just how brilliant a band they were. Great songs, musicianship and razor sharp lyrics. Always associated them with Camel, same label and I think one of the Sinclairs played for both. But Caravan's music is so much richer and has aged so much better. Thanks so much for the upload, h4z4, this is absolutely outstanding...

  • where the hell is my copy?? gone these 40 years somewhere - what total psychedelic hippy stoned nonsense - it was lovely. I may have seen them live?

  • great song, would you also by any chance have "C'thlu Thlu" and "Here Am I"?

  • very very cool, many thanks for posting this great music coming out of Britain in the 70,s

  • from 2:10

  • one of my favourite songs ever...don't you think that in MOBY's song PORCELAIN there are so many similitudes???

  • @comandantemurdock

    You're not wrong.

Definite grab from Moby in there.

  • @harkerlana I doubt it as the album came out in 1971...think Moby might have been influenced by this track...lol :-)

  • Pick our fill of punk weed and smoke it till we bleed... Good memories :)

  • Prog rock at its best, You never forget the words. You never forget what we were all doin back then. Smokin Punk weed?

  • I never thought I would get to the days when I was saying 'those were the days',,,,,,,,,,,,, i still know every word on this album

  • I've posted Love To Love You...enjoy

  • Iv,e actually got 2 copies of Pink on vinyl.Oh those stoned days.

  • not heared for long years, nice to find it here

  • top 100 cool track...the innocence of it all is a good trip..the piano is nice..magic mushroom days..must be old hippy.........the pictures are rubbish

  • as good now as then!!!

  • gr8 track. the album it's taken from was played all the way from London to Delhi, on a Budget Bus coach, November 17th-December 24th 1975 :-))

  • oh, i can imagine... ;)

  • some of my pics from that trip are on flickr. type 'budget bus 1975' into the search and look for pics by 'budgetbus75'. click one of those, then click my photostream. enjoy :-)

  • that was beautiful and inspiring. everlasting spirit of the orient. (:

    thanks!

  • @h4z4Rd3r you ever been to the orient sounds more like Barnsley

  • @routeoz those pics are astounding! I wish I had a time machine to experience it :) "Land of Grey and Pink" is great travel music, especially this title track. I'm working on a worthy cover version.

  • wow great trip down memory lane, cheers for posting

  • great song !

the pictures are nice - a little bit too much pink, and not enough grey to my taste - but nice... :-)

  • Nice crazy people with musical instruments and lively minds. What a combination !

    I'm sold !

    Tom in Utica NY

    ps..vvery nice scenes.!!

  • progres bass yeah

  • Fantastic band.Fantastic.Fantastic

  • LamourNeDurePas

Mmm 'Interesting , not really a fan of Julian Cope but I can see your point I'd probably yes .

  • I could listen to this song forever

  • Great song from an excellent album.

  • @bayerischman People here from the age 13 to over 60? Just shows that good music appeal to all ages of people. And that lovely organ solo in there-great stuff from the "c'mon smoke some funny stuff early 70s....

  • Really awesome song.

  • What a cracking tune !!!

  • friggin brilliant band...

  • I got my hands on this album in a charity shop at the weekend. OMG what have I been missing all these years? Absolutely timeless! Is it just me or can I hear echoes of Caravan in Julian Cope's solo work?

  • im related to the sinclairs!

  • entre la music et les photos ! quel pied ! merci

  • I was just playin this album yesterday!

Nine Feet Underground! I love David Sinclair's organ sound for the solos.

Fuckin awesome band - don't make em like this anymore!

  • Drummer Richard useto be the landlord of The Walnut Tree, Aldington. Think Caravan members played there once. I now live in New Zealand. happy days in Blighty..... P

  • awesome!

  • The drummer is now the landlord of the Cricketer's pub in Canterbury. Not a bad boozer as it happens, they seem to look after their beer. On the wall are a couple of gold discs.

  • This and "Winter Wine" on one album. Wow!

  • god i can imagine this song would be so good on mushies. Just got back from amsterdam where we took mushies and went to the zoo.

  • Listening to this once is just not enough! I also love what you've done to this. Takes one away.....

  • I'm 13 and I love it!

  • 38 but look 25!! anyone got anything from "If i could do it all over again i'd do it all over you?" fab tunes especially end of sides of LP. I had awesome time once when listening to it with some hippy chick in a haze of dope. it was back in mists (smokes surely, ed) of time....

  • I'm 17

  • wonder what the average age is of people that watch this vid..... I am 50

  • I love Caravan's music! "If I Could Do It All Over Again ..." is just as nice as this album.

  • I love the song and I love what youv'e done with it.

  • this youtube thing is a bit like prospecting for gold. you keep searching, and get mainly disappointed/disillusioned. But still keep going cos you are a music junkie! This then, upturned, listened to as I type this, is the real thing. pure brilliance.

  • caravan rules

  • Great band, I saw Caravan at Watford Tech College, UK in 1970..still have this LP...

Don't do acid to nine feet undergound!

    twiggy dot c

  • ok.

  • One of the most underrated bands ever...except by their fans!

  • questa canzone è musica terapia..ringrazio i Caravan di queste sonorità dolci..-ale-

  • Già... la parte di basso poi è fantastica.

  • great memories .. thanx

  • I haven't heard this in years. Great man. Thanks for posting. Regards Paul King.

  • "we'll go to sea driking tea"

  • ah the memories..........thanks poster

  • I'm a Camel fan, turned on to Richard's beautiful singing voice from the 'Breathless' album. This is GREAT stuff - Lacking only (if you're into Camel) in Andy Latimer's unbeatable guitar work. OMG, I guess I have to find and buy a complete back catalogue from Caravan now too?... Lovely, melodic stuff!

  • Unbeatable guitar work? How about David Gilmour?

  • i have a intersting fact for you ipods and glasses of water dont mix lol

  • NineenSeventyWotever - I'm back there now...

  • Hey, folks, In the Land of Grey and Pink, is a great LP. BUT, If I Could Do it All Over Again, I'd Do it All Over You is BETTER!!!!

  • fabulous, i used to listen to the original album of my older brothers as a kid. good to rediscover Caravan.

  • Where can I download this song :O?

  • "In the Land of Grey and Pink" is the best song ever

  • The Canterbury sound is going to be big this summer. I hope the new bands will give credit to Gentle Giant, Soft machine and Caravan.

  • grooovieee music. Not my gen either all though I wish it was!

  • grooovieee music. Not my gen either all though I wish it was!

  • I must be the only person of my generation interested in this genre of music. You people remember this album coming out! Glad I'm not old.

  • You are not alone my friend!

I'm 23 years old and I LOVE old prog! Give me Camel, Caravan, ELP, King Crimson, Spirit and all the other wonderful bands from the early seventies and I'll be a happy boy!

Let's do what we can to spread the word of seventies prog so it will never be forgotten!

  • I'm 19, luv old prog too of course

  • Right on ! : D

  • You are not alone at all, the early Caravan and Soft Machine and Gong, they are so great. I hate ELP but the early band of Emerson called The Nice is a wonderful masterpiece

  • i flamed keith emerson's christmas pudding when i was working at the blackboys inn sussex,in about 1992.

  • I'm 18 and also find no other sound better than the '60s and '70s. Anything will do do from there, wheter or not its my style.

Be sure to check out: Matching Mole, Ozric Tentacles, Free..

    Good stuff..

  • I'm 16 and I love British rock, especially prog <3 I "discovered" Caravan recently, and oh god, it's simply amazing.

  • Try 'Hatfield & the North' too...

  • Also, you should look up Camel...if you haven't already.

  • Don't forget to try planet GONG....71'-74'

  • such a song!!! I too have great memories, a girlfriend and long afternoons with this song on a sofa... :-)

  • grandi caravannnnnnnnn,canzone semplicemente stupenda

  • great music! but these prog rock fans r snobs

  • it has been great listen something like this!

  • One of my favourites too. Winter Wine my favourite track in the album.

  • The album 'In the land of grey and pink' is one of my favorites. My french girl makes love with me for the first time in june 76 listening at this song, golf girl, nine feet under, etc ... We could listen this song time after time with so much pleasure. I remember her pale blue eyes, her smile and her 'Jicky de Guerlain' perfume. Cool memories ...

  • Neat! Me too!

Most commonly it was The Musical Box by Genesis. So many layers... ;) Ecstatic!

  • This is the most perfect song!

  • was in the indoor market record shop in canterbury buying a soft machine cd when in walked richard sinclair BLIMEY!

  • And you didn't say hello on behalf of the youtube society, did you? :)

  • "in the land of the gray and pink " is a perfect album

  • *whispers* how on earth do you confuse that solo with a guitar?

Neat song, only 14,621 views is sad...

  • youre sad

  • Excelente banda de rock progressivo infelizmente não muito conhecida no Brasil.

Para quem ainda não conhece recomendo:In the Land of Grey and Pink e Waterloo lily.

  • yay in a bigass way quoth zhaheh and what she says........GOEZ

  • make a statue for these guys

  • Brilliant. Nice vid. Thanks for posting. Can I be greedy and ask for "Winter Wine" as well?

  • perfect vidio for one of the best pieces of music from the 70"s

  • One of the best songs ever written in the history of mankind.

  • Oh yeah... but I don't give much thought... This song features THE BEST guitar solo I have ever heard. And I have heard a lot. I have listened to a myriad of metal shredders and rock virtuoso guitarists, but this solo is the most unique sounding and passionate ever!

  • ...except it's NOT a guitar solo, mate. It's an organ ( probably Hammond thru a fuzz pedal of some sort ). It is however a wonderful song from one of THE great bands of the 70s. The Show Of Our Lives is even better.

  • great song too

  • wtf is "gray"? it's grey.

  • You're right.

    Corrected. :)

  • haha yay :P

  • Not released as a single in Holland...a missed chance. If they did release this song as a single in Holland I would have known the band Caravan many years earlier.

The only single of Caravan that just reached the charts in Holland was "Who do you think you are" (a 7/8 song reaching the charts :-0 ).

  • this is a wicked tune some great piano melodys

  • I´m so glad my dad raised me with caravan!! Thanks for sharing this with me. I still love to listen to the music. Brings back some great memories....like chilliwack also does to me...

  • i wish i had been able to listen to this when it was made... tough i was born into what is roughly generalised as 'music' today... :)

  • i've got all caravan albums..............but i cant't help but come back here to watch this.....cool....hope we don't get washed down draiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinn..

  • This album is, IMHO, the pathway to world peace - just listen to it and you can't help but feel well disposed to everyone!!! And such great musicianship and melodies A lesson in songwriting to be enjoyed by all. ;)

  • just blinkin' wonderful.................really.

  • Such a beautiful song.

  • maravilha!

  • All their early albums are wonderful but this´s the best

  • I like this song very much and you did a great job with the foto's!!!!

  • I have never been tired of listening to this album. Always a favorite

  • Oh the memories of LSD days with Annie H...we lived this song and I still have the album...thanks

  • pick a fill of punk weed and smoke it till we bleed thats all we´ll need... LOL...

great band, and amazing album- thanks for the upload.

the next song after this, nine feet underground is one my truly all time favourites.

  • Such a fabulous band and a incredible song. They deserved more.

  • Ah, I miss my vinyl collection, which is currently on a different continent and where all my Caravan collection resides. My first and my fav; cheers for the upload.

  • Brilliant band - and this album one of the best ever, by anyone. Brilliant lyrics. Reminds me of Uni, early 70s. Oh dear. Must go back to Herne Bay front and wash my teeth in the sea.

  • golfgirl is one of my favourite songs ever, but this is also a brilliant song. thanx for uploading 5 stars

  • Don't leave your Dad in the rain!!!
