Um, I just have a little suggestion. I've been learning japanese for close to a year(though kinda slowly, I admit) and I'm learning mandarin chinese as well. Might I suggest learning Mandarin as well? I'm learning some Hanzi, which in turn is strarting to help me recognise some kanji. Just a suggestion

I've been learning Japanese on my own for the past year after I stopped being crazy about anime, my parents still think it's a fad and won't support me because, "we're not asian and the only people who speak japanese are japanese people" and because it won't help me in anything :-(

@AnnaBananaKooKooCake It's actually a lot easier than you would think, the only problem is that words seem to have a LOT more sylables in Japanese than most other languages so you have to kind of speak fast to get everything you want to say done. Otherwise I suggest watching videos in Japanese and picking up the language by just listening!

@CristinaXNofx Cold and serious? No I don't think so. Not at all. To me ANIME looks very cold and serious but in terms of actual Japanese PEOPLE, no not at all! haha

@iSpurtz I would probably try to go for a traditional or old accent, or if I'm learning from an originally japanese-speaking person i'll just mimic my teacher exactly :/ Maybe i'd mix in words from every Japanese dialect, but most likely i'd just try for a tokyo-cored accent

You're awesome! I also want to learn a lot of languages. I studied Japanese for three years in high school and I was good enough to become a part of the Japanese National Honor Society. But I haven't gotten to continue studying for two years. Kanji is definitely harder to learn than Katakana/Hiragana. You speak really well! Yoku dekimashita!

@adicadabra Thanks! Awesome! You must be a LOT better at Japanese than me. I hardly ever use it. Yeah I think the average Japanese person has to lean about 3,000 Kanji so it can take a LONG time to master that part. Either way great job!

@choksantos I just meet up with Japanese people and ask them to teach me. That's the fastest way without going to school or spending hours trying to study! And it's fun because your interacting with a friend!
