  • Thats such a beautiful tune! It's playing like that that makes the banjo amazing!

  • Dude, ive seen alot of amateurs put up videos of themselves playin folk intruments an such but you are by far the best ive seen. I hope you are a professional musician or in a band because not only do you play the banjo in a beautiful unique way but you have a wonderful, soulful bluesy voice. Seriously man keep doing what your doing because your a living legend.

  • @qiminafix You're too kind. Thanks.

  • @wildjimbo No problem. But seriously you are amazing!

  • I remember you! We met on banjo lounge about 5 years ago. lol. Great pickin man. Thanks wild jimbo.

  • Enjoying yourself there, aren't you son?

Well, You should be. Thats mighty purdy pickin.

  • As always, great playing, Jim. The credits at the end are hilarious!

  • By the Way, one of my good friends is from Acworth, GA. Feller by the name of Dave Dougherty. Excellent picker like you. He has taught me alot.

  • great job Jim! i like all of your stuff! You play with feeling. I like to think you and I are on the same wavelength. Glad to see you don't have a sock stuffed in the back of your banjer!

  • Thanks! Love your stuff too. As for the sock... well, sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. Depends on what I'm shooting for soundwise.

  • I usually opt for the sock when my wife threatens to stuff it in my mouth. I try to accomodate her by placing the sock in my banjo.

  • Beautiful! You should make a tutorial for those ( like me) who want to learn basics ( and beyond) from banjo playing. If you wouls so,What a good start! You are a master. Thanks

  • yeeeha!...great stuff

  • damn. I really like what that banjo sounds like.

  • Great little song. :-))

  • fantastic tune, and fantastic technique jim! What tuning are you using for this, if you don't mind me asking?

  • It's tuned in F. fCFCD

    Glad you liked it!

  • ok thanks. is that the tuning before the capo's added or the tuning after? Sorry to keep asking!

  • Nice. Is that one of those Renaissance heads on the banjo? What kind of tone ring, if any, does it have? Thanks for sharing.

  • Renaissance head and a Rosewood tonering. :)

  • Thanks Jim. Nice plunky sound.

  • Great playing. And great sounding banjo too.

Reminds me of Doc Watsons banjo sound

  • I have listened to Hobart Smirth, Roscoe Holcombe and Wade Ward. Who's next for clawhammer?

  • I dig your style. Thats some fine old time banjo pickin.

  • Real nice!

  • Very good! Love the banjo, and you have excellent style!

  • seconded,top quality Jim

  • Superb clawhammer Jimbo. Very musical and entertaining

  • Hey Jim. Any recommendations for instruction for clawhammer? Maybe you've put out some? Been playing 5 string for almost 30 years now and have always wanted to learn clawhammer. Figure I shouldn't wait another 30 to do it. :) Thanks for the video postings! They're great. :)
