  • Elvis Costello sings awesome! I love the way he puts his feeling into song.

  • Thanks Civinprod 2 I'll give it a try.

  • im the 170 000 viewer

  • I'm sooooooo in love with mr. costello....even when he sings with Elmo, my heart skips a beat!!!

  • 6 people in search of taste..lol

  • 4 people are blind atheists!

  • Nobody can bad-mouth Costello's voice in my opinion. But they are entitled to their opinion....however, nobody can argue he isn't PERFECT on this song.

  • Hauntingly beautiful.....i LOVE this version, never fails to make me cry. Elvis live was my best gig EVER xx

  • This is a wonder Cd. The fact that Elvis can sing anything and make it sound special and unique makes him a one of a kind "Artist." I own many, sadly not all of his work.

  • I can listen to this everyday, all DAY,never enough and I think EVERY PERSON can relate to a relationship that's placed them into the frame thought? But at the same time, it's pleasing to the ears to hear!!! (-:

  • Thanks for posting this genius!

  • Rumer should do a cover of this one. It's a big difficult for Costello's range.

  • lunghe carezze.....

  • My heart is so full . . . . . thank you for this post !

  • <3 Words cannot describe how much I absolutely love this song. This version is pretty much the only version I listen.

  • bravo indeed!

  • This songs gets me every time. The tears just flow because the message is touching. I enjoy it every time.

  • Thanks for posting. I choose to cry alone.

  • Simply Brilliant. These guys are in a league of their own.

  • How many songs can revive your memories? How many songs make you feel again to relive moments of your past

  • yep, this is what we need those days...

  • It's Bacharach. He created his own genre. And Elvis Costello is arguably his best interpreter.

  • Beautiful!

  • i bet Jeff Beck is gonna get ahold of this one. its fantastic melody & feeling!

  • Now here is some real talent!!!

  • When should I cry?

  • One of my favorites. I love to listen to this when I'm feeling down. Beautiful voice, this is a very demanding song.

  • I never knew Costello could sing like this ,the whole combo is truly marvelous. So sad people never hear these sounds, although both artists at least have had success.

  • @fletcherc1

If you like this, you would like "Elvis Costello: The Juliet Letters with the

Brodsky Quartet" It is one of my favorite albums.

  • I love this sound...what would the genre be considered?

  • @XxFreebirdxX pop

  • @deerfried When I think pop, I think 'happy, mindless music'. Like Abba or something. I certainly wouldn't put the melancholy tone and attitude some of Elvis Costello's music has in the same category as Dancing Queen.

  • @deerfried Jazz.

  • @XxFreebirdxX

I'd say it's a deeply respectful, modern homage to the 1960's Brill Building sound that Bacharach helped to pioneer.

  • @XxFreebirdxX Genre: GOOD.

  • @XxFreebirdxX actually this would "technically" be considered jazz

  • @XxFreebirdxX I think jazz fits better.

  • @XxFreebirdxX Besides "pop" it's also been called the "Bacharach Sound."

  • @XxFreebirdxX Ba-rock noir?

  • @XxFreebirdxX adult contemporary is closer

  • @XxFreebirdxX

    Music.

  • @XxFreebirdxX the great music genre

  • @XxFreebirdxX it's adult contemporary not pop

  • @XxFreebirdxX Music

  • The combination of Burt Bacharach with Elvis Costello is superb in every way; from Burt's beautiful arrangements to Elvis' melodious and powerful voice...a masterpiece.

  • I love this song it's from the "Painted By Memory" CD by Elvis and Burt Bacharach. Elvis is such a great singer and interpreter of these great tunes. Beautiful collaberation.

  • @paytonfit When you say "interpreter", you do realise that Costello wrote the lyric, correct?

  • Simply fantastic!

  • I don't think ANYone has ever quite captured the end of love like Burt has. What an inCREDible Melody- and Elvis, despite a somewhat eccentric interpretation, really

nails this song- the note he hits at 4.54 is a real heart-breaker.It seems there are

very few songs of this caliber being written today, sadly.

  • @timjmoran For the record. The music was written by Burt Bacharach and the LYRICS were in fact written by Elvis Costello, himself

So you're basically saying this is an eccentric imterperter of his own material!

  • @angrykeyboarder Costello basically wrote the music too...at least the into

  • @angrykeyboarder They BOTH wrote the music.

  • @MrDarkbloom Burt wrote the music, Elvis wrote the lyrics.

  • @GuitarMan1117a Can you show me a quote or something to prove this? And even if you can prove Burt wrote the music on this track, what about the rest of the album? Costello wrote much of the music on the album.

  • @timjmoran

Well it may be eccentric but I think Elvis wrote the lyrics and i'm sure he helped with the melody. It's such a great great song either way. When I first heard it years ago I was blown away and I'd love to write something like it.

  • This song says so much to me. What happened to songs like this in today's industry? Burt Bachrach is a pure songwriting genious. And Elvis Costello is pure and genuine talent!

  • My favorite Elvis Costello song.

  • @Charylene713 This song shows how WELL he

    can really sing...

  • Incredible!

  • Some remember and some forget lovers...

  • what a combination Costello and Bacharach!

I wish they would work more together, Painted from Memory is one of my favourite albums

  • Brilliant.

I just can't help imagining how Dusty or Dionne in their peak years might have crushed this song.

  • This is the only thing I have Bravo (the channel) to thank for. I remember one day during college winter break, I caught this on Bravo and I was dis-enthralled and captured by this entire album. Since then I've been an ardent fan or Mr. Costello. Now Bravo has changed and I no longer find by chance for stupid reality programmings

  • I love the power of this song

  • i am not a person that is touched muched but this song always does, i don't know why it just does, it's a brilliant song. from glasgow

  • The album of Elvis and Bacharach is simply stunning.

  • this song is magnificent.

  • i love this, music of my child hood, elvis is so smooth here, beautiful sunday morning music. thanks

  • This song, the way Elvis does it, builds like "Rear Window" from the Master: Hitchcock!

  • @damone77 I guess that is a good comparison ... love Rear Window, one of the all time great movies.

  • LOVE THIS, Mr. Burt Bacharach & Elvis Costello teamed up for this wonderful song!! thanks so much for posting it!!!

  • This song makes me think of me losing my mother

  • Comment removed

  • I hope that there will always be an audience for music of this calibre. As great as anything from Bacharach and David's 60s period. Magnificent.

  • I cannot nor will not add anything. A treasure.

  • One of the best goddamn love-gone-bad songs ever written. What an incredible collaberation between two such diverse yet prolific song writers. "Here comes those tears again - just when I was gettin' over you." God gives you strength!

  • I'd love to see KD and Elvis do a duets album together with Bacharach writing the music~How's chances!

  • Unmistakably a Bacharach composition with all of the Milhaud influence. Love it like a lover!

  • great movie and great song , i wish the movie would have made it as a hit.

  • Still an awesome song 16 years later. It's a shame the movie they wrote it for "Grace of My Heart" didn't fare better, it was a great film.

  • How many songs are there that make you cry every time you hear them? Bacharach is one of a dying breed of songwriters. And Costello rose far above the ranks of ordinary pop singer after tackling this piece.

  • This might be the saddest song ever, but beautifully done.

  • @ROCKSTARCRANE If you think Mr. Bacharach should receive the Kennedy Center Honors, raise your hand.

  • @ROCKSTARCRANE

    Well put indeed.

  • What a terrifc collaboration.

  • The best - strongest voice in the industry!

  • Wow. I love Elvis, but I think this is an overstatement.

  • My opinion of course,....

  • I agree there.

  • @deerfried agreed, lol

  • agreed, I am a huge fan, but with Elvis, its not his voice, its his character that makes his work great, and the obvious feeling in his voice, he will tell you himself, he is not a natural talent, and has no great range. But he is great at what he does.

  • Oh My God!!! I love this song....NO one sings it Like ELVIS!!! I can watch the whole movie Grace of My Heart just to hear him sing this song during the credits. I can never get enough of it.

  • unfortunatly

this song is my myspace song

    describing me

  • This collaberation Elvis/Burt is fantastic...great song hits home ;'(

  • love his voice, the horns, the strings... everything is so perfect.. god bacharach is excelent! such a talented composer!

  • Una dupla sensacional: El compositor norteamericano Burt Bacharach y el cantante inglés Elvis Costello.

Una grancanción: "God Give Me Strength".

  • Other than Lennon & McCartney, I can't think of anyone other than Mr. Bacharach, as a more prolific composer. Godspeed Sir...*

  • I love this song!!! Wow! He is truly a great performer!

  • My God ! This song is wonderful. Celestial. Divine. Costello and Bacharach are great.

  • i love costello's voice but jesus, he sings so flat

  • my favourite song ever! i could broke my shirt singing this!

  • god, that horn theme just slays me every time....

  • How very subtle and intelligent of you!! a follower??? Maybe you should take the time take the time to listen to his songs here on youtube...and that is only a very small part of his catalogue...27 years old are you? that explains something: there still is hope for you..before I forget: he even wrote a song for you!!!Check the chorus lines of ' How to be dumb' ...

  • Just not your cup of tea, that's all, mate.

The man obviously has talent, and he is fearless as a musician and vocalist.

He emotes when he sings. He is the song.

  • Elvis' voice is very underrated

  • this is so beautiful, sophisticated, mature, painfully real. What an amazing pairing these two make. Wow!!!

  • This would be in my Desert Island Discs, no doubt.

  • Stunning!

  • Bacharach is GOD!

  • He's so brilliant

  • Burt Bacharach 4 ever!!! Grazie Maestro.

  • Now thats a nice a song..... WOW !

Who would have thought 20 years ago that these 2 would make a song that makes people go Ooooooooooooooooooooo.

    Great Job Boys!!!

  • what a combination, who would have thought? I love the song, but I am always amazed at how many bacharach songs I liked and didn't know it until someone did it and gave him the credits, of course, and this is what you get, great lyrics, great voice presenatation.

  • Incredibly beautiful song. I love Elvis Costello's voice. <3

  • Heart-wrenching
