  • TEAM GB.

  • me going 2012 olymic games cant wait!

  • natural sport and winning un aided is only way to win no cheating with twisted anckle cant run but on painkillers can but both ways may do long term damage and an animal cat say where or how bad it hurts my view say no horse or rider

  • Weren't the Equestrian part of the olympics in Hong Kong?

  • @myhorsewinston Yes they were held in Hong Kong :D

  • fei are mad should be boycotted or whitdraw decission to allow bute in competitions to drug an animal so it can compete is a farse i have a retired race horse which suffers from arthritus and is only kept as a companion this rule means i could use bute ( PAIN KILLERS)

to make the horse sound compete and win so the horse had no feel for injury when being ridden,i feel neither horse or rider be allowed to use pain killers to allow then to compete it is a farse and totally makes mockery of sport

  • you do know that it would be a low enough amount that it wouldn't mask anything serious right? I'm not saying I'm in favor of it, I haven't made up my mind. But just so you know there is a limit on how much a horse can be dosed, so no horse with serious problems should pass a jog or pass by the judges even with the little bit of bute they're going to be allowed. No disrespect meant :) just clarify to make sure you knew

  • Personally, I think that a horse should be completely sound to be able to compete to reduce injury to the horse. Using bute doesn't seem like the smartest idea, seeing as they wouldn't be able to tell when they were hurt. That could lead to serious injury later on.

  • oh I agree-I would never run my horse if i thought there was anything wrong. But just so people know it's not like people will be able to get away with running a horse with more than a little soreness (not that i would take the chance). I had just wanted to dispell the thought that it would allow a truly unsound horse to be competed

  • lol. soreness is fine, but if its even a little injury, they should be scratched. although there is disapointment assosiated with that, its for your horses well being.

  • once again, i would personally never run my horse if there was a chance...but I can't make that decision for the other people. My horse is far more important to me than any competition. Again, I was just clarifying a detail :)

    happy riding guys!

  • I agree with u

  • I love riding. No matter how much people are afraid for me. Horses can be dangerous, yes. But its a beautiful sport. And its fun as well

  • horseback riding is a beautiful sport! I'm riding a horse too and u fell free while u ride!

  • I started last year Im 33 y old and i did my first competition this Sep, yes I agree Swiss and German are the best by far in this sport, I live in Switzerland I was trained by a Swiss trainer, its never too late to start anything put your head and heart into it and you will achieve everything.

  • o my god this music is so depressing i why are all the the videos about horses either country of soft depressing music they should put some ROCK!

  • with xcountry, its all adreniline mate!.. thts wat u thrive off aye, i'm eventing and showpumping, and your right danielle456123, show jumps come down.. xcountry doesnt lol.. just go have a go at ODE Moonshine148 mate! you'll love it!!

  • Thanks : ) it isn't my best video, i was just bored and decided to make it : P

  • great video

  • sweet

  • The programm is very cool...

    I love riding :)

  • The first picture was of Zara Phillips.. she didn't compete in last years Olympics.

  • i think it should be on tv more..they dont show enough of the equetrians in the games

  • weeelllpp. the people who shit talk riding are probably the fat asses sitting in their mother's basement for the 6th year in a row, jobless, cause they obviously cant afford the sport, and critiquing it cause they never tried it, and they are only trying to make themselves feel better, because they probably look like either john madden's corn hole or an aborted sea horse fetus with down syndrome.

  • Holy shit..that was funny.

  • wooooooooooot go Australia

  • lol, im American but the Australians sure can ride. so can Great Britan. but look out world, HERE COMES THE USA! lol : )

  • I agree. The USA really needs to step it up [I'm american too. xD] I really wish I could get like swiss or german training, I've heard they're the best.

  • i'm german, your comment made me so proud :D

thank you, and yes ( not to brag) but horse riding is our main sport :D

  • I miss horseback riding so much! i wish i could go back but it is to much money! Yes! horseback riding diserves to be in the olympics! definetly! the horse and riders diserve to show of their talent!

  • i totally 100% agree ; )

  • Do you think it's plausible for someone who's dabbled into riding before but seriously gets into it at 16/17 could through the old blood sweat and tears [and lots of favors in place of money] possibly make it to the olympics during her ride-able lifetime, if she isn't mega rich and doesn't have her pick of million dollar horses? I know it's far off, but I still want to get as close as possible to the olympics and WEG. I won't know till I try, but do you think I could do it if I worked at it?

  • Of Course :D Riders don't hit their prime till the 30's and 40's(yes there are some young riders who rolex but have they won yet no its the experienced riders who are in their 40's and 50's Soi think it is very possible i'm 26 and i am going to go as far as i can but it is possible :D

  • oh sweet.

But 50 I'd think is very old to be doing riding like that! they must be fearless and in tip top physical condition. I'm going to be joining pony club soon to get a solid foundation. =D

and then, it's off to start the dream of going to the olympics and WEG! [well, once I learn the actual path to get there. xD]

  • Karen O'conner is in her 50's so is her husband david, Kim Severson is in her upper 40's i believe and many form the overses are in their 40's and 50's Riding keeps you in very good shape and health wise i know people who still ride (for pleasure now) in their 80's :D

  • i even watched a 72 yr old in the olympics 2008. he was very good but his horse wanted to bolt. i really want to get into the olympics to when i am grown up. you can do loads of things that u set ur mind to.

  • I'm just getting started in eventing, I show jump right now. Anything having to do with horses is dangerous. lol

  • I agree

  • how is eventing? I've wanted to try that for forever. Compared to show jumping, harder? purely the jumping aspect of it, not the fact that in eventing you're galloping straight at a jump and in showjumping you're cantering.

how do you get over the fear, if you have/had any? that's my biggest thing right now. I mean I know I'll have the skill to do it if I train and try hard enough, but getting over the mental aspect of it...is not easy.

  • Most riding in general has a certain...fear factor to it.(Not counting trail).

Saddle Seat, Dressage, Jump, Cross Country, etc.

All of that can be overcome if you practice, and if you really understand what you're getting into.

  • explain "understand what you're getting into" more.

    as in, understand the mechanics?

  • No, I mean, once you get in the saddle, for real competition, you need to understand how, not only everything works in general, but understand you need to have the ability to work with the horse. I don't just mean, give it a kick and expect a canter, I mean understand what not only the horse wants in the relationship, but what you want.

All that, plus the expense(My trainer makes me pay 100 every 5 weeks, and nearly every horse is a world champion in English Equitation), and the time.

  • you mean cross country. lol

in some ways its easier other ways harder.

and you never just full out gallop at the jump its just a fast draw out canter its kind of smooth to and it feels great!..

i was scared at the very beginning but i soon loved it and after falling a couple times it wasnt so bad i just learned from it.

but once you start you will love it ;)

  • yea, cross country. my bad.

around here, we just call it eventing because not many people just do cross country without it being in an eventing schedule. if that makes sense.

  • sorry :)

well good luck and have funn!

  • they gallop in show jumping sometimes 2. the main difference is that the cross-country jumps dont break away or fall down if u hit them.

  • eventing is the best sport ever!!! It is harder, but there are different levels just like in sj. I know, im scared with all the deaths going on, but something you love, nothing can stop you. Eventing the xc jumps dnt give, but sj they fall. In just pure sj, in the 2nd stage, not the jump off, but were you have to have the fastest time, you gallop.

  • that's very interesting. I am excited to try it someday! I say someday because it's expensive, and I'm trying to work out this grand master plan that allows me to be in pony club, and in pony club they have cross country rallies and stuff!

  • hey this video is cool. I am an eventor so I know the dangers. Jumping is so cool and so much fun!!!!!

  • i agree xXTeenageRiotXx. I am a jumper myself and I use flatwork and dressage to keep the horse supple and listening to my comands, plus it helps when you have to make sharp turns with them and they can respond to leg signals. If it's so easy to ride (according to riggy1990), then please, go jump 4.5 feet in jumpers, when a couple ribbons, and then if you can do that, go compete in a few Grand Prix's and the olympics, its isn't that hard right? Learn to think before you speak, er type.

  • "Learn to think before you speak, er type. "

I have now. Just reed what I said in the previous two posts, Dont want to copy and paste again.

  • Of all the people I have ever had to defend against for insulting my sport, you are the first person I have ever seen apologize. That is freaking fantastic. I tell ya, it's one of the most frustrating things when you have poored so much sweat, blood, time, effort into something and people just write it off. But hey, if you are ever interested, there are horse facilities are all over the place and you mind find it something real exciting to do.

  • with my weight the horse would collapse (last time I checked im 130KG)

  • Just Sitting on the horse ay? yeah, thats probably coming from someone who doesnt ride or doesnt ride very well...

  • Ive never ridden to be exact.

I was trying to make an argument, but I had no idea, and was out of my league, sorry for attacking something that you obviously fell passionte about

  • Appology accepted =] and thats very mature of you to say all that. xx

  • I was getting tired, about every month getting another Reply pointing out my stupidity.

  • lol, fair enough =]

  • yeh i missed xc nd thats the best one ahha, i dnt like dressage i only do it to warm the horse up and keep it intrested in its work:D

and btw yuh dnt just sit on the horse if yuh did that it just would mov eand yuh wouldnt get it over any jump if "riggy" if yuh book a lesson to learn to ride yuh will soooo know what we mean anout how much dedeicatioon yuh need ot ride

  • riggy1990, you dont just "sit there" on the horse. i ride horses and compete myself and it takes skill to ride. if you thik you just sit there, then why havent we seen you in the olympics if its so easy? it takes hard work and deication to do what we do and i speak for everyone that rides. so think before you comment next time

  • riggy1990, go ride a horse and see how muscle sore you are afterward. And I'm not talking about a walking trail ride for 30 minutes. When I galloped racehorse I wore a bandana under my helmet to soak up the sweat. I've heard this comment before and MY GOD, can you be more assinine?

  • Dudeeee.... the horse isn't doing all the work. It takes a rider to squeeze with their legs and finesse the horse into the proper frame and build the correct muscles in the horse. Those riders are doing a whole lot more than you think they're doing. Do you see any obese riders out there doing this stuff? They'd be huffing n puffing before they went 100 yards. It takes strength and agility to ride.

  • riggy, please go and ride a horse. Now. try just sitting there, aiming a horse at a 6 foot jump, and kicking. if you can do it, go you, have fun in the olympics. if you can't, then please don't critisize what you obviously don't understand.

  • that put me in my place.

I was trying to make an argument, but I had no idea, and was out of my league, sorry for attacking something that you obviously fell passionte about

  • anyone who doesn't understand biomechanics should keep their ignorant comments to themselves. rather than prove their stupidity publicly!

  • it takes alot of physical effort to ride properly. i try my best to ride properlly and my legs and but get very sore. if u really think that all u do is sit on the horse then u r not riding properly and being very slack and by the means of it u sound crap at it

  • a horse wouldnt know where to go on a jumping course or what do do in a dressage test they would just run away on cross country course the rider guides the horse and tells him what to do the horse and rider do equal work the riders do alot of work go ride a lazy horse that doesnt like to move

  • cool!! I love horses. I have 2 and I just started jumping 3 feet.

  • as she said, it is a popular sport and they did televise it, you just had to be on at the right time. they showed some on oxgen and then quite a few on the regular channels

  • yes they do televise the competitions, because i was watching them.. and it is a VERY popular sport. So arturopav.. before you send a message next time get your facts right.

  • Athats spoRt wAS vERy Cool But TheY DID NOT TElevise in television whY??/

  • I was at the 08 Olympics :)

  • Are there any actual VIDEOS of the events?

  • It was on tv, dressage jumping and cross country. I only got to watch show jumping though. I think it was on espn or oln something like that.

  • you can watch the equestrian olympics on msnbc's website. it has a ton of great videos.

  • Unfortunately equestian is not a popular sport and they do not televise the competitions, but it is a beautiful sport, mainly the competition of three days, in which much value is needed to participate. ¡Silver medal and bronze for two women! Congratulations to all the competitors.

  • nice video i only saw i little equestrain......hunter jumper so thx for making this video!=D

  • I heard they werent putting the equestirain events on TV

  • did you notice, they removed all olympic/equestrian related videos off the youtube, ( claimed by a third party)to bad I did not either see any of the events on tv, so, thansk for posting this clip,

  • That was a really good video...nice music & photos

  • I wish they would show more of the equestrian sports both at the olympics and on regular TV.

  • i agree. im sure lots of people would think watching a beautiful animal jump 5 foot fences is alot more interesting than table tennis doubles. i mean come on msnbc!

  • im so pissed off i havent been able to see any of it either.always while im at school.iv been sick for a few days now and it still hasnt been on.stupid channel 7 they always play swimming, gymnastics and running but never a change for once!!

  • Nice video! I wasn't able to catch any equestrian on TV, either. Either I don't have that channel or they play it while I'm at work! And I really like the guitar music. Can you tell me who is playing that and what it's called, please?

  • how much longer are the equestrian events going til?? i havent been able to see any because i don't have the channel.. but i'm hopin at least one event will come on before they're over.. :/

  • Good vid... yer OTM can be a right pain takes me ages sometimes i find windows movie maker is alot simpler but it depends on the video format!

also Zara Pillips did not compete at the olympics this year... :)
