My mother had five different staph infections from a hospital that she was in. They were Sepsis, Klebsiella, VRE, C-Fid and MRSA. She also developed 14 stage 4 bed sores while in the hospital.
(2) Robbing Medicare and SocialSecurity to fund this healthcare bill.
(3) First 10 years adds $500 billion to deficit. Second 10 years adds $1.5 trillion.
You read it right, 2nd 10 years adds $1.5T to the deficit. Obama's team has not yet responded to this criticism by Republican Senators. Majority of Americans do not want this bill passed, but Democrats will try to jam it through using reconcilation tactic.
And "government" supports all the big corporations that run the whole thing, beginning with schools where they serve crap for food, and going to FDA that comes out with stupid guide lines. Where is the government of the people by the people for the people.
Netherland & Switzerland, 99% coverage and no public plan, but insurance companies are regulated like utility companies. Taiwan & Singapore have best medical care system in the world, 99% coverage, high quality, NO WAITING, and they are government run with less 5% GDP. Unreasonable premium, preexisting condition exclusion, changing drug formulary, deny treatment, medicare drug GAP for Senior are just plain wrong. Come on my fellow American, let us fix the healthcare for our children sakes!
No one wants to take the Medicare benefit away from anyone. The issue here is to eliminate the discrimination that Medicare patients face when they are denied home infusion benefits. We are working on behalf of Medicare patients.
Its amazing how everyone with an opinion is a <health care professional"... Well I am a poverty expert and millions of people would love the inconvenience of medicare as opposed to having nothing.
The point you are missing is the people who have the lowest incomes are the ones hurt the most by the lack of Medicare benefit. Wealthier people can just pay for infusion treatments out of pocket. Someone at a lower income level cannot afford to pay out of pocket so they are forced to endure weeks in a hospital or nursing home to get the same treatment that others get regularly at home. If you look carefully the purposed legislation increases the benefit under Medicare.
The point that they are making in the video is yea, the patient has medicare but what good is it when they wont pay for the supplies needed, so you still have nothing!
Agree with NHIAhomeinfusion on this one. THe point being missed by you is that Medicare is WASTING money to provide infusion therapy in a clinical setting when it could be provided much more inexpensively at home; money that could otherwise go to other purposes not the least of which may be expanding the ability of Medicare to cover the very people you are an expert on. With due respect, head back to the DC think tank while the rest of us are rolling up our sleeves to solve real world problems
Got to love government run healthcare!! This is the crap you get when a "organization" that run a cash for clunkers program get involved with your health. I work for a private insurance company and every one of our plans cover home infusion.
Does Congress believe that elderly people should get the same healthcare benefits as everyone else? If so why does Medicare refuse to provide coverage for home infusion treatments? As a nurse I see so many patients who receive needed infusion treatments at home and greatly benefit. Then I see Medicare patients that are forced into nursing homes for weeks sometimes months to receive treatment they could be receiving at home. This is true insanity. Congress please act now!
As a health care professional I am saddened that this is such a disservice to our Medicare recipients in this country. Medicare chooses to treat their patients in the most expensive location (the hospital) with the greatest chance of them getting an infection that is resistant to many medications. Please contact your Reps and Senators to support HR.574 and S. 254 which would give Medicare recipients the same choices as everyone else.
What's crazy is that every other insurance company will pay for home infusion because they know it cheaper for them than having the patient in the hospital, and patients want to be home and usually do better at home. Less expensive and better results. Ask your Congressman and Senators to support HR.574 and S.254, The Home Infusion Act of 2009. There is NO opposition to this bill because it make sense.
Agreed! Medicare needs to update it's reimbursement policies; this is a great way for Medicare to save money and get patients the care everyone else has access to. Contact your congress people today and aks them to support this legislation.

If there is no public option i the health care bill it is a pile of garbage bill.
Tell your democrat representatives that if they don't put it in the bill you will not vote for them next time around.
They are showing themselves to be part of the rich corrupt powers party with every action they take (along with the republicans).
Force them to do the right thing, because they do not want to.

The bill itself will eliminate 500 billion in funding for Medicare, so, how is this good for us again?

The real costs are:
(1) 10 years of taxes for 6 years of benefits.
(2) Robbing Medicare and SocialSecurity to fund this healthcare bill.
(3) First 10 years adds $500 billion to deficit. Second 10 years adds $1.5 trillion.
