  • Does anyone know where I can find this video and all the concert ?

  • awesome.

  • Les Baxter has endless finesse which I never really heard in any other musician/composer. But making music has changed, it has become less direct, less from the heart because people nowadays usually produce music with computers. This does not mean the music of the likes of let's say Flying Lotus or Slugabed is not to be considered craftsmanship, you just can't compare the arts. In the end I'll always return to Baxter and many other musicians from ' the old days' .

  • Very well put together.

  • This was a hugh hit for several, including Roger Williams in the 1950's. Sold in the millions, and was on the Hit Parade for a lengthy period of time. Was classified as "popular music" of that era.

  • Lovely performance.

  • What genre of music would you class this piece as?

  • your momma

  • Les Baxter was known for Exotica which is Bachelor Pad music. The kind of music that a father would listen to while smoking his pipe wearing his smoking jacket.

  • Very nice : ) I like this video particularly, because it really sticks with the melody of the song (which is beautiful).

I love watching performances from this era...big band music is amazing.

  • all old song are made from the bottom of the heart. unlike new generations up 1990.. made from commercial...

  • @jetleeming

    go look underground!

  • @jetleeming I would refute that. Bands like Radiohead and Arcade Fire have always put their air before their bottom line :)

  • Amazing This is so pretty:D

  • WOW.

  • true skills... :] gives me the chills

  • I'm 50 yo and I love exotica and black metal too. I'm the only one? I don't think so. Nostalgia can exists with love for the things of present. Salut.

  • Beautiful music!!!

  • Mr. Les Baxter: The Father of COCKTAIL MUSIC.. DJ Dimitri From Paris his House disciple.

  • Ah, this music soothes the soul...why can't todays music be such a melody of sweetness?

  • Cause they play from their wallets. This is from the heart.

  • @Incongruent This was from and for their wallets as well. Don't always act and think like, say, 50s years ago all was made for passion and heart and money and mainstream commercial approach did not exist. This kind of music was particularly conceived for Ads and films, these composers where just paid (as any other employee) to compose standard and catchy themes for movies and commercials - something which does not require much heart or creativity if you're trained to.

  • couse you are old and nostalgic, such words a new generation will say after 30 years, everything changes and you can't stop it...

  • HA!

A lot of young peopel think the same.

  • I tottaly agree :) this is beautiful

  • i wish i was him

  • now thats an arrangement kids!

  • It is clear that this generation of music is much better than the one that is cataloged to me in these days.

  • magnificent music!

  • try to play it to these days youngsters and see what you'll get back :-))))

everybody though I was crazy during my few DJ sets with 70's...

  • This is a recording from 1962.

  • Some good music right here. Very well put together.

  • brings back early childhood memories. Great stuff.

  • Les makes such a smooth transition from latin to swing. How stylish !

  • great~

Using Variety of element to perform this wouderful piece
