  • You are beautiful! ;)

  • lol what are the ods i was googling this and my fav youtuber comes up

  • so is 1280x720 780p or 1080p?

  • @MrMacTuts 720p the number after the first is the quality so 480p in 360 x 480 and 1080 is 720x1080

but youtube usually does 12080 instead of 1080

  • @WTVBqdemon Actually, 720p stands for 1080px(width)*720px(height) progressive. 480p stands for 640px(width)*480px(height) progressive.

Also, this is the stupidest thing I've ever seen. You don't get HD out of an iSight, you just stretch the video from standard quality to HD, which turns it into a piece of blocks.

  • @r0ckf3l3r Yeh I know, I made a stupid mistake. I completely forgot about this post. Thanks for correcting me.

  • How do you take HD photos?

  • song in begining?

  • ugh how come ipods come with an HD camera, but macbooks dont????

  • @hannahfanna789 just wait until the next macbooks update.....

  • @hannahfanna789 lol yeh all i would like is to record with my iSight in HD and they cant do it because they are silly.

  • @hannahfanna789 They Do Now :D

  • @KidTuneTV yea, i just found out! soso happy! they also got rid of the intel core 2 duo!! ahhh im soo happy!!!

  • @hannahfanna789 They do now. lol

  • My Macbook records pretty good.. it's really clear too lol

  • why not 1920x1080 16:9???

plz answer as soon as possible

  • Why is it that when I try and record with it it dosen't sense it and the green light dosen't turn on. Help?

  • @BlackoutOmega try recording in photobooth

  • @mkuzn123 photobooth is trash

  • @HDMohamed ya but it still works

  • will that work for 1080p?

  • Hi. Nice video.. but what if after you edit your video and go to upload it as HD it doesnt let you select that option on imovie? my only options are mobile, medium and large.. i cant click on HD... :(

how do i save it as HD? and why doesnt it give me the HD option?

  • how do i get isight??

  • @xxhypergirlxx

isight camera's are the built in webcam in macs.

  • @xxhypergirlxx iSight is the name of the camera used in every macbook laptop so You can't get it seperately.

  • @xxhypergirlxx its the camera built into macs

  • Thanks for the tip!

  • You're so helpful!

    I love your videos!! :)

  • Hey man, great vid. But did you know that with Quicktime Pro you can actually RECORD in HD? and I'm not talking about just enlarging a picture like you're doing here, I'm talking about REAL HD. The video on how to do it is on my channel, go check it out if you want to. The video that is.

  • do you think its worth the investment to purchase a full HD camera or is isight sufficient. I have not even check my isight video settings to see if there is a HD setting.

  • @MinWilliamJosephWWM See my vid man, if you have Quicktime pro, your iSight will record REAL HD. Cheers.

  • i exported a movie from screenflow to imovie cuz i needed to make it shorter but why was it when i exported it the bottom and top of the original video is cut out??????? is there anyway to fix that or is that just what it is?

  • this was because during import or during the making of a project it will give a size option, dont choose widescreen, i choose standard, the other is ipod format.

wow you probably dont care any more, that was a 2 month old comment.lol.

  • naaa i still couldnt figure it out :p thanks alot :D

  • no problem!

  • this also works with imovie

  • what was the name of the first program?

  • Sounds like screenfolder :L:L

  • It's called screenflow..

  • Really awesome video. I like your use of screenflow and thanks for showing us how to do this.

  • see at 2:18

    i have a problem

the HD option is there but its faded and i dont know how to get it.

    help?

  • You need to download iMovie HD from apple's website!!

  • did you export from screenflow or whatever program in hd?

  • I like the way you talk hahahaha

  • it doesnt work on my imovie even though its 09

and my imove HD doesnt have the 16:9 option

BUT it works perfectly with my final cut so im all good

    thanks solda!

  • i want to enter in one of your giveaways!!

    btw what is the requirement?

  • subscribe and follow on twitter

  • whats going on at 2:04 ??? there's like 9 spaces....whats that for?

  • What is the pixel resolution for the iSight camera?

  • Comment removed

  • isight is a built in webcam on every mac

  • no, iSight is a build in Webcam^^

  • ok didn't know lol..

  • is Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD with Total Available Graphics Memory of approx. 1320 MB a good graphic card to buy because i am buying a laptop and do u guys thinks its a good graphic card compared to NVIDIA GeForce 9200 graphics card

(256MB Dedicated) and NVIDIA GeForce Go 8600M GT also which is the best graphoc card out of them thanks PLZ REPLY

  • No. The Mobile Intel cards sucks! Don't buy it. I had one on my previous laptop. NVIDIA is 1000 times better!

  • what ilife does he has?

  • ´09 he made a review about it...

  • does it make a difference which 1280 by 720 HD you use

( i mean the difference of the top and bottom one)

  • Great information! Well done!

  • does this work with any camera? or does it have to be the isight?

im thinking of getting a camera for youtube, just dont want to have get a HD one just to have the HD button

  • any but it not quite HD it just a bit bigger and makes youtube think it is HD

  • thanks for reply, but can you explain to we via Personal Message more detailed because im really stupid

    For your reply i subscribed

  • I'm not certain, but it seems that this option stretches the video to fit the widescreen.

If you don't want to appear stretched, then you can simply make the background widescreen and insert yourself normal (I do it all the time).

  • does the intro music have a name?

  • I wish I knew how to edit video and make the most out my Imac. It seems so freakin hard!

  • Thanks for the tip! I never knew this feature was avabilable.

  • Sigh, if only i had an iMac or MacBook........

I wanted one so bad, but my parents wont let me, they got a PC with Vista instead, thats what im using right now, and it sucks! I want a Mac so bad!!!!! This vid made me jealous! But im keeping my cool. Anyway, if, if, if I get a Mac, I'll know to check SoldierKnowsBest for help with it.

  • I'm new to Macintosh, my first system is coming on Monday but it is a MacPro without an iSight. Could you talk or tell me about whether or not other video cams can do the same thing that the iSight can do? Where can I find out which cams work and if they work with all of the same applications? Thank you!

  • great video. useful

  • hey wen u export from imovie with HD, how long does it take?? coz mine says 31 mins to make HD for a 9:30 video..is that normal?

  • thats really normal

    they take FOREVER to export

    dont worry

  • i dont have that option in my imovie already in the 'share' then 'export' ??? and my imac is the 2.93ghz version also? strange..

  • I adore you soldier knows best! Keep up the good work and thanks for the brilliant tips,

    Peace ;)

  • I just got an iMac and i was wondering do u do all your video editing on iMovie?

  • wow, ur videos just get better and better. and that was a cool trick

  • great video man

  • Cool, thanks, didn't know that.

  • Awesome video! Very useful!

  • hmm thats why your videos are stretched...

  • Why don't you Apple people call it a freaking webcam instead of the stupid iSight name?

  • Because it's how it's advertised, and it's a better name than webcam. AND iSight is a unique and cool name and shows you're an apple person.

  • Yes, it is just the BITCHEST thing known.

I guess we are all not cool enough to spend 3X as much on a laptop as Apple people.

It takes massive intelligence to spend that much money on a laptop.

  • Some people really aren't cool enough to be mac people?????

I'm from new zealand, we can't get 17inch screened computers for 700, we get them for 2500 at the least. and entry level MacBook is 2250 here, I tihnk it's worth paying that much anyway for all the software and stuff you get? But yeah, it is WAY to expensive especailly for these economic times lol. I don't know how some people can afford to just buy something new from Apple, they depreciate quite alot too.

  • I would disagree with what you said about depreciation. My buddy sold his stock G4 last week for $500. Try buying a $1000 PC and wait just one year and sell it. You won't get much more than $100-200. Not trying to start a fight but I just can't see a Mac depreciating much. Maybe over like 10 years.

  • I meant like, in coolness, I mean the first iPhone was awesome, but now it's shit only a year later, you could sell it for quite alot, but it's 'ugly'. And the new iMac's are twice the price , as in to keep up you have to keep buying the latest apple thing, u noo?

  • LOL. love your philosophy.

  • me?

  • actualy if your a windows user tech person you are probably smarter then mac tech people, as on windows you constantly need to be maintaining the computer. virus scans, restarts, defragmentation, blue screen and so and so! on a mac you get used to the simple way just turn it on and BOOM, IT JUST WORKS! Not to mention if you buy a 800 dollar laptop in 2 years its shit, you buy a mac and 5 years later you should really upgrade! good things cost good money!

  • @amb180 That is the stupidest comment I have ever read.

  • how did u make ur intro?

  • some guy made it for him.

  • great tip! never thought "HD" could be done using iSight.

  • i dont really like this intro i like the other one you use.

  • Wow! Is that a new intro?! It's amazing! Oh, sorry, the video is fantastic! 5/5 + favorite'd!

  • a very quick tick now thats funny

  • who says "tick"?

  • All that really matters is that your screen captures are high def so its clear.

  • why watch his videos then

  • coz youtube shoved it in my face when i logged on ...

  • 3:04 very quick tick haha

  • Thanks I been wondering how to do this...

  • thanks a lot for this buddy! i got it working

  • help in my imovie09 it does not say HD???

  • 16:9 is hardly wide screen 16:10 is wide screen like in movie theaters

  • Thank you! I've been wanting to know how you got yours in HD. Now my videos can enjoy some HD!

  • Great vid man.

  • Thanks for the video! :)

  • you don't have to do the 16:9.. i use just the 1280 x 720 option, works perfect

  • True. I use the HD 1280x720 option as well. Honestly, i don't really know what the difference between that option and the option Soldier recommends is.

  • I use ScreenFlow too, but my method is WAY different. Like other people said before, your way of exporting is causing your iSight footage (your face for example) to be stretched (from 4:3 to 16:9).

If you would do it correctly (i think all footage should be viewed in their original aspect ratio, regardless of any black bar popping up) you would get black bars left and right of your iSight footage. I know many people don't like bars, but your way is pretty silly to me man.

    Great video though.

  • i love your videos

  • i say u get the old intro back

  • Please

If you have the option to by a real HD camera that would be very nice

  • The irony is that the iSight has 1280x1024 capability, just no software implementation outside of MacDaddy Test App

  • man it's kinda bad that you're doing this cuz your face (and everything else) looks stretched out since you're going from 4:3 to 16:9.... should get a real hd camera, or at least something that can shoot 16:9 so at least you don't get the stretching...

  • Thnx alot man

    keep up the amazing videos

  • Thanx for the tip. I tried it on my last video but the HD option was greyed out on iMovie 09

  • For those of you who have a problem with SoldierKnowsBest videos; Please don't view it and keep your comments to yourself..

  • why not tell them a better way to do it?

  • that is dum cool thkz

  • You know, you could just sit a little farther back from the camera and then just do a crop! It would still "look" HD, and you wouldn't have that stretched look, plus it wold be 16x9!!!!!

  • this is bS man..

you're loosing credibility for saying its HD

    when its NOT

    its not even SD

it merely stretched the aspect ratio

  • even though its not a true 720P , i always though he actually had an HD camera for his recordings. it's not pixelated, so it looks pretty close to HD

  • thx skb

  • but you forgot to go to where it seais settings you click it then press best qaulity

  • Nice tip. Looking forward for new reviews and more videos! :)

  • More great info. Thanks

  • horrible intros to the videos man

  • I still think that the "stretched" look is kinda unprofessional. It's better to do a crop or get a real HD camera.

  • It stretches it though, that's why peoples head looks wide.

  • Thanks for the tip soldier! i've been looking how to do this :P

  • Sorry Soldier, but this is not a good tip. All you are doing is stretching the video into HD resolution and therefore making the video look worse than it does in it's native format. If you don't have an HD source, DO NOT convert it to HD.

  • dam you soldier you make me wanna buy a mac even more

  • this is only in imovie 08 and up right? becaue i have imovie hd and it obviously doesnt have that chart, which is ironic because its called imovie HD...

  • i heard that iMovie '08 sucked...

  • yeah, plus i think that apple tried to make it look fancier and make it seem more like final cut, but they failed and now its just a useless program. they should have imovie hd available for download. i mean, i have it, but for the leopard people who hate it.

  • It IS available =) I got a free download of iMovie HD even though I started off with iLife 08.

  • thank you thank you thank you!

  • Nice tips man thanks.

  • Thanks.....

  • For screenflow you missed a minor step, while in customize menu go to settings-compression type=H.264 (it will already be set to H.264 but you have to reselect it to get the quality option) then slide the quality from high to best ;) This wont improve the quality by loads but i think it still makes a difference (check out my channel if you're stuck).

  • great tip

  • Thanks for the tip.

  • it is NOT HD

  • finally someone knows that these people screaming their doing HD and are not; scaling or in this case streatching the video and converting a low res video to a higherres doesn't make it HD; so sad so many people think a low res video can be converted. SAD sad sad.

  • nice tip! useful stuff for youtube users are great topics.....

  • I have imovie 09 but i don´t have the HD option, why is that? :(

  • you have to do a software update

  • 1:48-1:54 You might want to scale the dimensions to custom size 1280x720.. thats what I use for my videos. :)

  • soldier, i think you still need to fix the aspect ratio your videos... what's weird though is that when you're showing what you're doing on the computer, the aspect ratio is fine

  • I think it looks fine in the screenflow recording because the aspect ratio of the screenflow recording matches the aspect ratio of 720p (1280x720, ratio being 16:9).

  • Nope, it does not match. Screenflows recording is 16:10

  • HD is not defined by width that would be widescreen your thinking of.

  • I know.

  • Nice tip

  • thanks man! i so needed to know this :D

  • thanks dude

  • can you do this in iMovie 08?

  • No, I have iMovie 08 still and it doesn't have the option for HD on youtube. But, I just export out in 720p to my desktop, and than upload that movie to youtube.

  • You should maybe also click the "Preserve Aspect Ratio" option because then you won't get a stretched look.

  • Definately!!! one of the most annoying things about widescreen is when people just s t r e t c h out the video!!

  • Totaly a g r e e

It annoys me so much! lol

  • Yeah, the aspect is very distracting.

  • dayum.. i keep wanting a mac more and more. but i cant afford it!!!!

  • saaammmeeee

  • great tip!

  • thats really cool

    thanks

  • sweet~

  • this video isn't HD :O

  • It takes time

  • Yes it is, have a look.

  • nice video

  • How can you do this in iMovie 08? Is it the same thing as iMovie 09?

    Please reply.

  • he showed you how...

  • just do the same thing he did...HD 1280x720 16:9

  • Yes it is the same...
