My family is from Pennsylvania, they have lived there since 1858, so I really dont consider myself a tourist. I was kind enough to not show any faces of the Amish I filmed. The women on the porch at the beginning of the video was on premises of Amish Village a tourist attraction and was only dressing the part.

When I travel, I try to have the utmost respect for people and their local traditions. Something many people who visit us here in Lancaster County seem to completely forget about. Many but not all visitors have a complete misconception about us and that we're all supposedly backwards, stupid, or technologically ignorant.

It is about respect and giving people the ability to live their lives without unwanted intrusions from the outside world.

That is what we ask for and expect from the world.

I grew up in very rural North East Lancaster County, amongst farms and the Amish. I still call are this my home.

Many ignorant tourists/outsiders feel they understand the Amish, and seemingly make a circus freak show of all this.

I've had more than enough of tourists. They're a total annoyance and a bothersome/intrusive problem that won't leave anytime soon.

You want a supposed perfect utopia? Try Hollywood films. We don't need/want your money, your stupidity, or your scrutiny either.

I dont think in anyway this video potrays the amish as freaks. I actually learned somethings about the amish and have more respect for their way of life. Thats why people travel, to learn, have fun and yes buy cheasy tourist items.

What I find funny is the tourist that go to every store that has the word 'Amish' in it, what makes me realy laugh is that most of those stores are not official "Amish products", but replicas.
