If a person argues that the majority of people who voted for Obama was because of the color of his skin, then another person is just as entitled to argue that the majority of those who DIDN'T vote for Obama was because of the color of his skin.

You have to remember, this election was no landslide of 90% to 10%....the white vote was split down the middle, and the Dems needed the majority black (and Latino) vote to win. Nonetheless, the Dems also wanted a black presidentialcandidate so they could successfully play the race card whenever people criticized Obama's policies.

Obama had 280 electoral votes, Mccain had 250. Plus many blacks said this was their 1st time voting.

Something like 92% voted for Kerry, Bill Clinton was a tad bit higher and Obama tops at around 96%. Basically it didn't make much of a difference, or at the very least, the difference is not enough to build an argument on.

You have to remember, this election was no landslide of 90% to 10%....the white vote was split down the middle, and the Dems needed the majority black (and Latino) vote to win. Nonetheless, the Dems also wanted a black presidentialcandidate so they could successfully play the race card whenever people criticized Obama's policies.

I certainly have much more faith in the American public, who picked a black president, than to suggest that it was simply to play the race card. Besides the fact that blacks simply don't make up enough of the population to make a huge difference, out of the blacks in the US, how many actually voted? Half maybe and blacks have ALWAYS voted democratic.

@thelordmemnoch if you disagree with any of Obama's policies (i.e health care) the Dems call you "racist", b/c they believe the only reason your disagreeing is b/c hes black (dont believe me, search some Janeane Garofalo). And yes, you're right, the blacks dont make a large percentage, but when you divide half the majority, and add a little more percentage to one side, that side will have more. Obama had 280 electoral votes, Mccain had 250. Plus many blacks said this was their 1st time voting.

@TheYoungTurds1 You might be looking at 2%-4% at best that were voting for the first time. Democrats historically get the Black and Hispanic vote. Something like 92% voted for Kerry, Bill Clinton was a tad bit higher and Obama tops at around 96%. Basically it didn't make much of a difference, or at the very least, the difference is not enough to build an argument on.
