i have a ''65, gto tuned up to about 500 hp and i still get goosebumbs if i make the clutch roar. sadly though i live in holland where no roads are empty enough to flat out in a straight line. but its all about HAVING the car instead of having good roads :)
the charger Dom drives is in fact a 1970 but what some of you say isn't true due to the costly time to retrofit a 1970 front clip would in fact be more costly in the long run
In the first movie it was an 1969 with a boat motor blower with a modified front mask to make it look like an 1970 because the 1970's are RARE to Rare to be crashed couple times. But it's supposed to act like an 1970 the looks are dead on with1970 so you could say it's an 1970 charger. To some people that say that 1970 doesn't have that kind of rear lights they are wrong because every 1970 has those kind of lights except the R/T version. And in all the other movies Dom drives an 1970.
@adamblade71 the one in the first movie was a 69 with a 68 grille. u can tell by the taillights that its a 69 shell because a 70 charger has a chrome trim around the taillights and the one in the movie did not.
@killerfreak180 The only things that changed over the three years ('68-'70) were: front grille, backlights and sidemarkers. The length remained the same (207.95 inch).
i Guess it's a 69 cuz the 572 hemi in dom's car was only available in the charger 500, but they've made it look like a 70, cuz the front was lighter than the one of 69. BTW nice vid,
@srbskibandit What the hell are you talking about? You have absolutely no idea, there was NEVER a 572 c.i.. engine in any Mopar. The 500 has nothing to do with the engine and they also had a Charger 500 in 1970! The best engines available were: 440 Magnum (1968-1971), 440 Six-Pack (1970-1971) and the 426 Hemi (1966-1971). The 572 engines are crate engines (as well as: 472, 528, 540). The front was NOT heavier in 1969 than it was in 1970 (wtf?). Inform yourself before you talk...
@srbskibandit Who cares if you are a mechanic? You don't have to be a mechanic to know what engine was available in which year. There was no 572 in 1969. Period. Biggest engine available was the 440 c.i. Magnum.
@latox123 1971 was the 3 generation. You don't have to know a lot to see that it's definitely a second gen Charger (1968-1970). And no, the car was a 1970 model. I know it because one of the original movie cars (the best looking Charger, only used for show filming) lives in my country today. No chart says it's a 1971.
Ok to make it official the charger portrayed in the move is a 70, in the first one and this one. They used 68-70 chargers but converted them to 70 body panels. Easiest way to tell is the grill, 70 has the big chrome grill/hoop out front like in the first movie(blacked out in this movie), 69 has the recognizable center bar, 68 is pretty much the same as the 69 without the center bar. 69 and 70 share the same tail lights. Now you can tell your friends you know for sure

Its a 1970 charger but they buy 1969's and 70's for the movie and replace the front grill to make it look like a 70

At the ending you should put the charger whelie from the first movie as a big finale and whats the name of the song?

@adamblade71 It's a 1970 Charger 500 that looks like a 1970 Charger! Not one single detail that speaks for a 1969. Inform before comment.

@killerfreak180 You mean rear quarters? Certainly not, they're all the same between '68-'70.
DodgeChallenger426 11 months ago
@DodgeChallenger426 no they aint the same, the 68 is a longer body then it gets shorter with the 69 then lil bit shorter wirth the 70
