  • How come she wasn't so concerned about the "law of the jungle" when she was supporting Saddam Hussein throughout the worst of his atrocities in the 1980s? Weird.

  • So you're ill? Ah, you'd have to cross the NHS auxiliary workers' picket line. And then you become really ill... But no ambulance. The ambulance drivers are on strike.

Would you like to take the train to the hospital? Train strike. Ah, so Labour and the unions leave you do die. Ah, but you won't get buried. The gravediggers are on strike.

But don't put the body in the tip. The rubbish isn't being collected either! Britain before Thatcher was a shit hole, an East Germany.

  • Thatcher may have been a bastard at times, but she was our bastard, defending the UK unlike Blair, Brown, and the current crop of traitors, giving the Thatcher rebate back to the EU so that they can squander more money paying nonexistent farmers not to plant nonexistent fields for the criminals on the continent.

The UK is taking the bulk of immigrants from Eastern Europe. The French and the Germans refuse to take them. The UK's burden is greater, so the rebate should have been increased.

  • I love Margaret Thatcher. She is a true patriot. I would always want her fighting in my corner.

She stood against communism, socialism, and all the forces that undermined the freedom and majesty of the United Kingdom.

Pity the French. They still face the total failure of their roads and public transport systems just because some unionised workers want to negotiate a wage far above their worth in the labour market.

American envy us our Maggie. She was the jewel in Britannia's centurion helmet

  • Kuwait was historically part of Iraq. Look it up- Britain drew the borders in the Middle East according to its wishes. The border between Iraq and Saudi is a near straight line- Kuwait is a curve, showing some colonialist drew the border with a pencil. The purpose was to create a permanent puppet/ally in the Middle East for oil. The people who write the history books have idiots who read and believe them. "How fortunate for governments that the people they administer do not think"- Adolf Hitler.

  • @yorkshire13579 What nonsense. Kuwait AND Iraq were historically part of Turkey. If you go back far enough, they were part of Babylon. And they were even British colonies. Do you think history justifies what Sadam Hussein did? Why not claim our historical right to Normandy then? And if Kuwait and Iraq were the same, why shouldn't Kuwait take Iraq and not vice-versa? You fool!

  • @CloeBuckingham More fool you. Turkey did not exist until after the fall of the Ottoman Empire. Westminster carved Kuwait out to be a little oil fountain of its own, despite it being an integral part of Basra. If you're going to ask me to consider Saddam's actions, maybe, before you scream that Westerners can do no harm, you could consider what our own leaders do, have done and will continue to do? The stench of hypocrisy from people like you is unbelievable. Go and learn properly.

  • @yorkshire13579 Basra was never the capital of Kuwait! LOL!

  • @CloeBuckingham I never said it was. More fool you for not doing your homework, and for refusing to deny the fact that the biggest terrorists on Earth are here in the West.

  • @CloeBuckingham 'Chloe', I've noticed you have a tendency to write profanities and insults at people. That is nothing more than a manifestation of your inability to communicate and debate properly with others. You might want to learn civilised discourse and elocution at some point.

  • Sanctions Devastated Iraq Before the 2003 Invasion - Democracy NOW!

  • A large part of UK Population grew to Hate this bitter rich Woman, I might think she would lose sleep over all those poor kids Civilians, but since she came very close to turning Britain into a police state....maybe no! She's Married to a Chemical Company Millionaire.

  • @wind4watts It is Blair who turned the UK into a police state with surveillance cameras everywhere. It is Blair who turned huntsmen into outlaws.

I don't believe in guilt by association. It doesn't matter who Thatcher was married to, because she obviously "wore the trousers" in that family.

  • @CloeBuckingham You must have money or be a Government lackie to have that view! cushy council job? Police State, that was Thatchers work when all of a sudden one lowly Miner 'scab' who the Ruling classes Judges Magistrates or Cops couldn't give a Crap about & regarded as Chav Scum suddenly had 500 Overpaid Police (she boosted their pay vastly ) to ensure he got to work, against the wishes of 300 Hundred of his colleagues many getting into debt & houses threatened re-possession, first Riots Yrs

  • @wind4watts Do you remember the codes? It used to be if a glazier repaired your window, you had to hire a painter to do the touch ups, because a glazier was barred from painting. The same goes for a plumber or gas man or whatever.

It used to be if you hired a cameraman, you needed a cameraman's assistant, even if you're filming in a hot air balloon that only carries two people.

Thatcher got rid of all the nonsense.

  • @CloeBuckingham And she decimated most peoples chance of having Dignity of standing on their own 2 feet financially, we had clean tidy parks Cemeteries Public buildings they had people employed cleaning them, not now! , she shut the Mines down to destroy our main Union cost us 70-80 Billion in Police overtime.

  • @wind4watts You arse! Thatcher did not shut down ONE mine that was profitable. And those profitable mines she kept open are still making money. If it were about revenge, she would have closed them too! The mines were subsidised by the British taxpayer £16,000 per worker. That's the average; the closed ones were worse. Hell, the dole is cheaper than that make-work program! And the coal from the UK is dirty. Better to import. The north of England used to be so sooty! She fixed that!

  • @CloeBuckingham Oh Piss off as we none Southern England people say..Margaret Thatcher was Married to Dennis, who Inherited a chemical Company Business that he sold off, so University educated Mason & Qualified Barrister Thatcher only on £500 per Hour using British Media 'grabbed' the Housewives Vote, but when their Husbands Fellah s were thrown onto the Dole, couldn't blame the 'Stateswomen like ' Margaret! I

  • @wind4watts Thatcher got us the rebate from the EU, which Blair so easily gave back.

Do you like being drained by the Italian mafia exploiting our common agricultural policy? Should we pay them not to farm land that isn't agricultural anyway? Do you like paying more tax because our farms are more efficient?

Do you want Argentina to have the Falklands, when 99% of Falklanders see themselves as British?

Did you like all the gravediggers strikes? Black outs? Ambulance drivers strikes?

  • @CloeBuckingham Hundreds of Thousands lost their Homes we had riots in London with old ladies throwing bricks through cops windscreens over her Disgustingly unfair 'Poll Tax', The only ones who benefitted were Council Prison police workers Estate Agents Banks as far as I can see! Boosting police pay to a present £31,000 basic (today) ensured their loyalty at least, gone like a frigging police State now with Precious little Justice!

  • @wind4watts What you write is a kind of nonsense. Home ownership skyrocketed with Thatcher, because she let people buy their council flats. Before Thatcher, the people of the UK were blackmailed by unions. You couldn't bury the dead, get rid of rubbish, get an ambulance to the hospital, etc. She got rid of the nonsense and turned the country around. All the loss makers like BP, British Gas, British Airways are now profitable thanks to her. Thatcher never wanted the poll tax.

  • this is 1990

  • Sanctions are not an embargo. Do not make this fallacy again.

  • What a turn around !!- Especially as it was Thatcher along with her chum Reagan who so strongly supported Hussein during the 80s while he was gassing his own people and the Iranians.

  • @Chazzoli He wasn't gassing his own people. He was gassing Kurds, who happened to be citizens of Iraq. They were not Sunnis, and they were not members of the Ba'ath Party.

Iraq was used as a counterbalance to Iran. Welcome to global politics. It's not very utopian, I know. The UK has played it for centuries, which has kept the likes of Napoleon and Hitler from taking over the world.

Outside of a few nice places like Surrey and Kent, the world is evil, and evil must be played off evil. Boo hoo.

  • And then what followed was the embargo on Iraq which killed half a million children. But it's alright... None of them were her children.

  • This is the time in her career when she was domesticly unpopular in the UK, but when she had become a reveered international Stateswoman abroad.

  • Very true. It was during her third term that she really crossed over from being just a respected stateswoman to, as you say, a reveered one.

I often think that only in Britain could a leader of her calibre be ousted mid-term, without ever having lost an election, by thier own party! I still find her political assassination astonishing.

  • This must be 1990 as the invasion took place then.
