u must read this. once u started there is no turnind back. a little 10 year? old girl was raped and murdured in 1945.her body was not found until 1947. then a boy last week read this and did not? copy? and paste this message. the dead? girl appeared? in his room haunting him? and killed hin. if ou do not copy and paste? this? onto 10 videos?? in 30 minutes the? dead girl will appear?in your room? tonight and haunt u and kill you. well? you better start to copy and paste if youwant to be saved
This music has it all. I started tonight just listening to the mellow tracks and working into the heavier stuff. They are so incredible. I wish that people besides Metallica fans would look into their catalog. They have such a broad spectrum.
I hate it when people call this Doom or Sludge Rock.....morons.
I love all their more well known albums (Bandolier - In For the Kill etc.) but I keep coming back to this first album as something to count up their with the best that Rock has to offer.
The fact that it was basically recorded "Live" with some overdubs just sweetens the pot.
@KevinR1138 While this stuff isn't Doom Metal, it does have some moments very similar to Doom Metal, especially on the first album. Songs such as Rape of the Locks, Homicidal Suicidal, and especially Guts have a doomy feel. I've always said that "Guts" could have been on MOR by Sabbath which actually came out a month after this album. Tony Iommi must have been biting his fingernails when he heard Bourge implement that same heavy thick tone and wah wah effect that he used in Electric Funeral.
I've been spreading the word on Budgie since I first heard them back in 1985 on an old reel to reel at a basement keg party....."who the hell is this?" Budgie, their Scottish or something" LOL!
People either jump on board right away or just don't get it.
@ntcutterl congrat! so do i, until the salad days, but still got three left, still play them about once a year when good friens around and beer in throuts
well...maybe budgie was about music...while larger, and more largely produced groups were too busy with record sales and sensationalizing a genre with only ''household names.'' too much branding in the industry. thats why i love the internet...file sharing forced genuine musicians underground; dependant on music lovers to find and support them.

It's hard to figure out why this group never made it big. The riffs are just awesome, very heavy indeed.
