the v6 they put in these are beasts. sort of an overkill for a rav4 but ill take 268hp any day. 0-60 is faster than many sports cars. well done you rice eating mofos.
Just out of curiousity is the Traction Control on? These cars are usually faster than this as most tests are around 6.3 to 6.5. This is just over 7. Pretty big difference.
They're fast but many soon get plagued with a diff whine our some other type of wear inside the 5 speed auto. Many start getting it before reaching the 45,000 mile mark. Design flaw yes but also because since these Rav4's are so lightweight & with a powerful engine, the front wheels constantly slip even in normal takeoffs or doing a turn from a dead stop into a road. Driven many of these and even the smallest sprint spins the tires. Really bad in the long run
1) im impressed that they got an engine with relatively large cylinders to rev to 6500 and 2)ive been in a 4cyl rav4, and considering what it is, it feels surprisingly quick
@vegetablelon 4 cylinders are slow on the camry, add more weight and you have a rav4. which would be extremely rev happy because no torque at low rpms
@dudegetsomedeoderant ok well i have a 1999 jeep gc which is about as fast as this. I have a video up where it does 0-60 in 7.5 seconds with a 4.0 liter inline 6 which has 80 less horsepower plus that was ten years ago and my jeep weighs 500 pounds more. Check out my video if you can! :)
smilesandlaughs1 are you gay? the rav4 has a 268 hp v6 and get to 60mph in 7.3 secs versus the nissans 2.5 L4 plus the rav4 has the most stable (but not fun) handling ill get the rav4 anyday, nissan rogue equals expensive waste of money
@rigstig I would have said the same thing before i drove the Rogue. The Rogue is a much more competent and engaging vehicle to drive, regardless of the fact that it doesn't have a V6 option. Seriously, you should drive the Rogue. You'll feel the same way once you do.
@88462 yea. you would say that. You apparently haven't driven one. If I had the option to buy a V6 Rav4 or a Rogue SL, I'd choose the Rogue. It's far more engaging to drive, has a great features list, and they look pretty nice as well.
I was going to get the I4 but found a clean used V6 for a great price...two years later I'm so, so glad I got the V6. It's a lot of fun to drive around. Not a sports car but no slouch, and easier to live with/do things with.
My cousin down in florida has one of these and so does my neighbor, they are pretty good but I still like the Ford Escape better, i am leasing a 2010 model right now and it is quick, and good on gas.
@redman6657 sorry it took me so long to respond, but for a small SUV like that, its pretty quick, no denying that. and 06 Si does it in 6.8, so its not MUCH less
@redman6657 You're jealous that the top rated comment says its fast, and that no one cares enough about your comment to thumbs it up. It's a safe, decently powered crossover that gets good mileage, not a 400 horsepower sports car, that's the whole fucking point Toyotas aren't shitty, that's why they outsell practically ever other car maker in most parts of the world. I doubt you have a 400 horsepower "sport car". I think you're just saying that for more attention.
@redman6657 I just read your profile, and you're fucking 13! LOL you can't even drive yet, no way would you have a 400 horsepower car, let alone any car at all. When you actually come of age and you get your own car in real life, you'll stop trying to sound cool on the internet, and you'll stop being JEALOUS of people who can actually drive and own their own cars. LOL what a fail
@SnizzFizzs I was just saying that from an imaginative point. I know I'm 13 and not old enough to have a car or a driver's licence, thx for reminding me.. but if I were older, that would be the case. Also, I'm not really jealous of anything, I'm just expressing my thoughts towards the comment. Just trying to have a conversation in my free time, so thanks for the conversation. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go and do something fun OUTSIDE while you stay inside playing xbox like a zombie.
@redman6657 Key word: Imaginative. You're expressing your thoughts toward the comment acting like you know something about the topic, when you really aren't old or experienced enough to have a worthwhile opinion on it. Are you really telling me to get outside, when the whole medium we're talking over is a computer? Wow, talk about irony. Oh well I was right, you use imaginative theatrics on the internet to make yourself feel better about the truth. Have fun dreaming
@SnizzFizz I'm expressing my opinion from my knowledge about cars. Just because I am young doesn't mean that I can't learn anything about cars. And if you actually know how to read full comments, you would see that I just do this in my free time. I'm not trying to rule the internet or anything, I never was. I'm just expressing my opinion about a topic I know a lot about. All I was doing in this comment section was replying to the original commenter that there are faster "little cars" out there.
@redman6657 I never said you can't learn about cars, but if your only source of knowledge is a computer and you've never actually sat behind the wheel and driven a car yourself, you have a lot to learn. You made a comment saying toyotas are shitty... that's what you call expressing your opinion on the topic? You also compared a rav4 to a mustang. If you're gonna compare acceleration, why not compare two cars in the same class? Stop bench driving, it gets you nowhere and makes you look bad
@SnizzFizz If you read the comments I have made before yours about me being "jealous" about a high rated comment, you would have seen that I have replied to a comment by saying that there are cars smaller than this one that can accelerate faster than this, therefore saying that this isn't the fastest little car in the world. I would compare acceleration of cars that are in the same class, but it is irrelevant to what I was trying to prove in the original comment. So that's that. Have a nice day.
@redman6657 I did read that comment, but you seem to have no understanding of what I'm saying. My point is: you made a comparison without a proper example. Sure, there are cars smaller than this that accelerate faster, yes, but that's not my point. You compared it to a mustang... Are there any cars that are the SAME size and price range that accelerate faster? It's completely relevant to what you were trying to prove, considering you are trying to say there are similar cars that are faster.
@SnizzFizz There actually is a vehicle of the same class that accelerates at 7 seconds, like the Rav4, which is the Ford Escape, but it wasn't what I was saying in my other comment. In my earlier comment, I was just saying that there are smaller cars that accelerate faster.
@redman6657 Yeah, well the ford edge isn't faster, is it? In your other comment, you mentioned nothing about smaller cars, you just insulted the comment poster by saying that he "obviously" hasn't driven any other car because she called this rav4 fast. THEN you went on to say that one particular sports car can accelerate faster. After that you attempted to sound like you know something by saying you have a 400 horsepower car yourself, as if to validate what you had said previously. faillll
@SnizzFizz It's just as great as the Rav4 when it comes to accelerating. Just read the comment after the one about the mustang. The only fail I see there is when I said that a Honda Civic can accelerate faster. The only reason why I brought up the 400 hp car was to give you an example in a better way to use the word jealous. I'm not at all jealous of the original comment made over a year ago, all I really did there was conflict with an opinion.
@redman6657 Exactly, it's JUST AS good, not better. The whole point is that you were trying to prove a vehicle of the same type is better, when you gave an example with extremely similar performance. You didn't use the word jealous in an explanatory way, you just said that someone would be jealous of your 400 hp sports car. All you did was conflict with an opinion, when there's no reason to do so in the first place, and then make your opinion look unplanned and ridiculous afterward.
@SnizzFizz The only problem is that I'm not trying to compare two vehicles in the same class, my whole point of my original comment was that there are cars that are faster than the Rav4, no matter what kind of class it is.
@redman6657 There's no reason to point out the obvious; you were making the assumption that the highest rated comment poster hasn't driven any other cars. Unless you know the poster personally, you can't be the judge of that. You don't know what the comment poster has driven, and therefore, what's fast to the poster might not be to you. Even still, the point remains that this is a fast car for its class, and it's completely obvious that there are faster cars. You fail hard
@SnizzFizz That's not really a fail at all. It's true that the assumption I made is most likely inaccurate, but I was just pointing out that there are faster cars out there, I know it may be obvious to you, but I think the poster should try out faster cars and see the light... but, you made a fail too. One of the very few competitors in this class, the Ford Escape, accelerates just as well as the Rav4. Only the Honda CRV is slower but nothing else, so it's below average. So the rav4 is average
@redman6657 How did I "make" a fail? The whole point I'm trying to make is that for it's class, there are no cars in the same price range that are FASTER. Being that the ford edge accelerates JUST AS WELL, you're wrong in saying there are vehicles of the same class that are faster. The rav4 is only average in comparison to other cars that are faster ,and obviously so is the ford edge. But they are both in the top of their class in acceleration terms, not average at all.
@SnizzFizz I know I can fail at times, but I don't fail hard in this situation. All this thing was a minor fail to get the right point across. So don't be going around and thinking people are an epic fail just because they made a minor mistake.
Danm this is quick it reminds me off my old car, 2007 Acura TL.. Does anyone know what the 0-60mph time for the 2009 Toyota RAV4 Sport AWD 4cylinder time is compare to this one?
...And Toyota is just finally starting to make a vheicle that is capable of 0-60 in under 10 seconds....congrats.....They may be smooth, they may be reliable but they also make the most lethargic, boring cars on the road. No thanks.
I just bought an 08 RAV4 LTD V6 on Friday and i'm blown away by the speed! It's actually faster than my traded in 04 Honda Accord Coupe V6, i couldn't believe it. Amazing vehicle, i luv it!!!
Sorry "bro". You obviously don't know much about cars if you can blindly make a blanket statement about cars like that. And I would take a pontiac anyday of your 1990 Accord. My god why would you even still have a 90' ?
I love how all the toyota fanbois rate me down immediately because they think that toyota's are the be-all-end-all of the motoring world. Tell you what, go look up toyota and their engine sludge problem. Our expedition shifts just as smoothly as one of these. (Had a rental car one when we were in nevada couple weeks ago)
that's because of gear ratios and gear efficiency. Toyota didn't design rav-4 for sports reasons, mostly for reliability and efficiency. I was in market for a CUV last year but ended up with the Acura RDX not rav4 mainly because i like a bit of more luxury and sedan like feeling of rdx. if i had a family and kids then definatelly rav4 is the best cuv money can buy. this guy took his foot off the gas after 60 thats why it looks horrible after.
Using PocketDyno I've produced 0-60 times around 7.2 with my base model 3.5L V6 AWD, 87 octane gas. That's about what Edmunds got and about a tenth of a second slower than Car & Driver testing basically the same rig. That said, the 2WD models can get in the mid-sixes, 6.5, 6.6 0-60, thanks to limited slip differentials and the power not being torqued to all four wheels.
....and not to mention less weight due to lack of transfer case.... posi diffs dont really make a difference in 0-60 unless you are spinning lots of tires.
the v6 they put in these are beasts. sort of an overkill for a rav4 but ill take 268hp any day. 0-60 is faster than many sports cars. well done you rice eating mofos.

Not bad at all around 7+ seconds, pretty good for a Rav4.

The V6 versions of these will go like a bat outta hell...they're crazy powerful for a compact CUV

well it seems you let off after 70 but still the 55-70 time is extremely slow considering how quick it was elsewhere.
johnkimble555 3 years ago
that's because of gear ratios and gear efficiency. Toyota didn't design rav-4 for sports reasons, mostly for reliability and efficiency. I was in market for a CUV last year but ended up with the Acura RDX not rav4 mainly because i like a bit of more luxury and sedan like feeling of rdx. if i had a family and kids then definatelly rav4 is the best cuv money can buy. this guy took his foot off the gas after 60 thats why it looks horrible after.
immortal4942 2 years ago
Yep ... I let off at 70 ... that's the modus operandi for these tests ... they're pure 0-60 times, from a dead stop, with no load.

you should cut the video at 0:14

You should cut yourself three weeks ago.

pretty quick 0-60 but it seems to poop out after 60 or 70. Wouldn't want to race it or anything.
johnkimble555 3 years ago
if you want to see what a Rav4 V6 can do over 60 go see my video...
0-140mph ,or 0-220kmh wide open until she cuts out...it will do more then that if i get a chip.
everyones afraid to open her up..NOT ME!
if you want a rav4 get the V6,dont ever settle for 4cyl crap,,the 4 is actua;y a bit harder on gas and slow junk compared to V6..i tried them all

1st gear goes up to 40mph :D I love the RAV

Using PocketDyno I've produced 0-60 times around 7.2 with my base model 3.5L V6 AWD, 87 octane gas. That's about what Edmunds got and about a tenth of a second slower than Car & Driver testing basically the same rig. That said, the 2WD models can get in the mid-sixes, 6.5, 6.6 0-60, thanks to limited slip differentials and the power not being torqued to all four wheels.
ColinNekritz 3 years ago
....and not to mention less weight due to lack of transfer case.... posi diffs dont really make a difference in 0-60 unless you are spinning lots of tires.
