I just hope al you so-called "REAL HIP HOP FANS" are actually BUYING this music, both in the stores and on iTunes. People love to come to songs like this and sit on their high horse about bullshit rap and fake artists, but guess what? They're mainstream because they're being SUPPORTED by fans. When I hear dudes yapping about real hip hop but then always asking me where the free downloads at, it comes as no surprise that the real shit can't shine.
NO SHIT LUKIE, I'M SO TIRED OF PPL SAYING SHIT ABOUT LIL... WELL I DONT WANNA SAY IT CUZ AS I AGREE WITH YOU. A REAL MC LIKE GURU DOESN'T DESERVE ANY WACK RAPPER COMMENTS ON HIS YOUTUBE VIDEO. EVEN IF YOUR TRASH TALKIN THE WACK ONES.
usually dope 90's emcees make weak albums today because they've become too modernized (ie: snoop, dre, eminem, and even krs one is a little bit less of what he could be musically compared to his 90's stuff [don't get me wrong, still top 5 on earth material]).
but man, gangstarr was consistent with their work. dope album after dope album after dope album. it only got better... even when they modernized their sound. the thing is: they kept a 90's vibe in.
@mikecheckBKLYN I trully agree with you. Gangstarr re-invented the sound of hip hop in the 90s. The best MC ever with the best PRODUCER ever. And I'm not from Brooklyn, I'm from Santiago, Chile and STILL can recognize that shit, even though I've never get out of South America. That's the reason why I made a GANGSTARR tattoo in my left arm, simply ONE OF THE BEST YETTTTTTTTTT
Anyone one that mentions a mainstream rapper, on a comment, posted on a video of a real hip hop track like this, is an idiot. Stop bitchin', There is nothing that anyone can do about the mainstream hip hop world, we can't get rid of the artists, we can't stop them from making music. You guys need to grow up and realize that hip hop ain't dead, it's underground. So listen to the real hip hop, and stop bitching about the mainstream rappers. Grow the fuck up !
@TheLukieBoi1 yes u are right but this song in it's day was main stream and when u look at the diference from the present days u are a little sour :) Peace
@TheLukieBoi1 On EVERY CORNER ON EVERY STREET EVERY CITY EVERY COUNTY AND EVERY COUNTRY, HIPHOP IS ALIVE AND WELL BETTER YET IT GREW TO SUCH PROPORTIONS THERES NO STOPPING IT...
your part of the problem its people like you who keep main stream bull shit alive we have to bring back originals like guru. so do what you want suck lil waynes dick or whaterver don't tell other people what to think. FAG
@edgarpena50 hahahhaha.... I'm the person telling everyone not to mention mainstream rappers all the time? Im saying, if you don't like them, you don't need to say so on every single real hip hop track that is posted on youtube.. How am i, at all, the person trying to keep mainstream hip hop alive? Think things through before you say them, you idiot..
@TheLukieBoi1 i feel u on that homie 100% it jus sucks that weak ass mainstream rappers are hella rich and popular and there is so much more talented MC's out there who speak on some real shit, at least wise heads know about real hip hop
@SleepLifeDeath Wealth isn't what you can't live without, it's what you can live without. That's why Guru died a millionaire.. I'm sure if you really think about it, you'll understand what i mean.
@TheLukieBoi1 but music should be about quality not quanity, guru had both so hes legit. but mainstream artists today make garbage music with no meaning and make 7 figures while artists like goapele, RA the rugged man, living legends ect... are hella unkown and not appreciated for their work
Agreed, but chill bro. Were on the same side here. People aren't being immature its just like - they are disappointing so many people don't know what hip hop is anymore.
I know this comment will get a lot of negatives and yes Im a big Guru/Gang Starr fan but seriously, this song has maybe Guru's weakest rhymes ever. Many bars dont rhyme at all. Too bad, this beat is hot...
This track, Who Got Gunz, Capture and terrible line in Piece of Mine mar what would have been another classic album.
@pungisotu i`m down with you, fan since 92, ok, the rhymes are kinda "weak", guru could do it better, but it`s still better than 99% of that other bullshit you hear on the radio today!
@sfknns LOL, I hear ya bro. After getting the Owners on LP and hearing it again, I'm tempted to change my mind. I always liked the beat, that's bangin. It used to bother me that Guru sometimes contradicted himself by doing "gangsta" gun-toting raps on occasion. Seems to be at odds with his lyrics on "Piece of Mine" on this same album, for example. I always thought that stuff was better left to his Baldhead Slick persona.
@pungisotu , LoL ok, yeah guru didn't bring it like he did on his previous albums on here! this is probaly the weakest gang starr album on a lyrical tip that is! then to top it off he wanted to do no more gang starr albums! I still don't understand the whole solar/premo/guru thing! & unfortunately alot of good mcs to contradict themselves hey krs one is a master at it LOL! but to me guru had his best rhymes on moment of truth!
@pungisotu , & another thing, if I was mcing along side one of it not the best producer in hip hip (premo) I would never want to quit till I'm in grave!
@sfknns he had his reasons apparantly. Premier claims his only problem with Guru was his drinking. After that he was good, but Guru wasnt interested in another Gang Starr album and even went so far as to say that he himself was Gang Starr. Either way, RIP. Just got No More Mr. Nice Guy on LP! CD is flat as hell compared to it!
@pungisotu Actually it turned out the whole letter was a lie written by solar. Solar said that Guru woke up during the coma and wrote it but the hospital had no record of it so Guru's nephew made a video here on youtube to tell people that Guru never said those things.
@AndRegistration Yea, I did see his video. I like to believe that's true, but no one really knows. I've forgotten about the beef, I just enjoy the music.
@speeddemon002 Yo, isn't that last sample (I speak that real shit, just listen) from D.G. from Pitch Black? You know, them dudes who made "It's All Real"?
