  • Acciidddd!!

  • I do have a vague recollection of seeing this indent as a very young child, but I think more of a ident a the end or a program made in another region or or during some technical difficulty across regions. I seem to remember the Southern TV logo too, especially associated with afternoon TV, news and weather etc, possibly linked to ?Country ways or Out of town? Something Jack Hargreaves was in. And sometimes on kids TV. I am only 34! And now TV is 90% US rubbish. Don't make 'em like they used to.

  • Urrrrgh! This was always preceded by 'Crossroads' in my house!

Dum da de dum daaaa dum da de dum daaaaaaa (and......cue guitar)

I blame my mum for that! :oD

  • Apart from the jingle the ident creaks a bit. Old fashioned if you know what i mean. Anyway i believe Central was just a restructured ATV who had to change it's name and emphasise it was midlands based, and get management away from London and open more studios like the one in Nottingham. So technically it was not a new franchise taking over.

  • @DaveyC95 All franchises were just big rebrands, they always were, after all the 'new' companies needed experienced staff and they just re-employed everyone in there old roles. The ITV as we know it is mostly Granada TV and it's what Granada wanted all along. They got too big and despite the franchising system set up to prevent this it happened anyway. Find me a regional TV station that doesn't answer to Granada exec's or Granada part owns (direct or indirectly). There all scheming crooks.

  • @m1dlguk This was all due to the Govt at the time changing the ITV Broadcasting and Franchising rules and laws, thats how Granada and Carlton ended up buying up practically the WHOLE of ITV's franchises..shame.

  • @TheMasterNo6 On the money there, and if you look at it, the pressure has always been there for them to do so. Granada primarily the source of that pressure. Granada spent a lot of there time trying to be the ones to do it since there very beginnings in the TV industry.

  • Scary! :O

  • That was a better ident than any of its contemporaries. Indeed, it was often better than the programmes that followed it!
