ARM based netbooks could be epic...ARM processors would significantly cut the costs of the machine, and lower the power draw. Imagine a day when you can pick up a netbook for 100 bucks! I sure wouldnt mind that, even if they performed worse than the Atom or the Nano.
The only downside is that ARM=/=x86, so you cant run most normal programs.
Bah, it can't run Windows XP and Adobe' implementation of Flash. That's about it, your standard Netbook with a special interface ala Xandros' work for the EeePC (or in this example Ubuntu) will run perfectly fine. It would be fine for what 90% of netbook users would need, just don't market it as a "cheap notebook" it is a completely different set of uses. Personally I cannot wait to sell my soul to get a few of these to play with.
Not being able to run WIndows XP may not be much of a problem, but trying to play current Flash content might be, as Gnash and SWFDec do not support any features of the new Flash 10, and Flash 8 and 9 support is limited.
Can you tell us when these ARM netbooks are available on the market?

@Givarius Genesi sells them now with i.MX51 for $199, even cheaper i.MX53 ones are coming next month

nope, in the iPhone 3GS is also a Cortex A8, but its an ather SoC, the iPhone got less power.

In the wikipedia article about Adobe Flash, they say Adobe is planning to release an ARM optimized version of Flash Player.
