Thanks for keeping up with the questions on this. So many people don't like to give away any info regarding what they are doing with these machines. I can't wait to get a 909! I have a Kaoss KO-PRO, but I need more goodies! Keep up the awesome work!
@nineAMbeats1...with a MIDI Interface device, and any DAW program. CakeWalk, Ableton, anything like that. you set up a track as an INPUT channel, and you take the OUTs from your setup (i.e. like from the OUTPUT on my reciever) and everything that goes into your speakers will FIRST be recorded through Cakewalk or Ableton, BEFORE the sound goes through your speakers. This makes for the best sound quality...I dont use a MIDI Interface on my setup. Thats how ive done it before, but i sold mine...
This is absolutely fantastic, one of the best YT demos I've seen. A few days ago there was an ad for a used 909 and I just couldn't afford it, which I feel so sad about. This is exactly the type of sound I would go for and I can see how perfect this machine is for it.
i was always afraid of hardware. If You could compare MC909 as complete workstation to any DAW? (I work on Cubase5) Is it worth replacing computer for this piece of hardware or is it rather a good way to build up the studio?
Are some of your 1-16 parts setup to start by themselves? How long did this song take you to compose? Haha this is the 3rd time I've watched this today
enjoyed the track, really innovative!!. I just got the mc 505 from a friend, and checking out the tubes of what people created, it looks like the 909 is def. a step up, but for a newb like me I will have plenty on my hands with the mc 505. Keep on pushing the envelope!! cool beats!
Quality track here. The percussion is really good and the detroit kind of chords sound awesome. The pitch envelope with that sound that comes in around 2:40 is quality, really suits the track. Overall, great track and great mixing. It bears repeated listening to as well.
What's stopping you from having the stereo output from the MC-909 feed into your computer via an audio interface? You can listen through headphones at the same time. You'd just need to sync up the audio and graphics later on with some editing program.
im trying to sync my mc 909 to my native instruments maschine so that i can play my 909 sounds on my maschine and sequence the sounds inside of the maschine software. Im going from midi out on maschine to midi in on roland but i am having trouble getting them to communicate?
the options for the midi on the roland are crazy how do u have the options set on your roland for midi ? seq sync , song , midi tx and rx ?? can u please tell me thanks much dude u rock hard
@PathOfTheWolf there are all kinds of problems it is not easy to do at all. im going through this right now. roland midi options are a new language to understand

very relaxing beat i think. the 909 is a very astheticly pleasing machine to look at, i have seen a couple of 'custom' varients, and they are mental, matt black with purple lcd screens....manic
you gotta sit down and produce this track man, the initial jamming sequence till 2:45 is great, breakit down and find a daw and produce it man, it sounds great
Nicely done. I've heard a lot of people put down the MC-909 as a toy. This video proves the old adage that "it's not the tools..." This makes me feel like an asshole for never producing anything worthwhile with my more extensive setup. Have you released any tracks beyond Youtube?
That is a quality deep, deep track, one for the serious heads, lovely percussion on it, track progresses well, yeah, keep this shit coming on man,, keep it coming.
Ya know, this very well be a #1 hit in the scene and even go as far as Ibiza or Tiesto could hear this and fall for it - beg u for a copy to play; or even John Digweed to pick this up..
When there are soooo many trax around the world, this one will get to the top 10 if you play your cards right ..
Best of luck to send it to vinyl for distribution or the like.
Thanks!!! Yeah your totally right you can make your own patches from your favorite synths/samples (up to 3 sounds per patch) and have them go through the machines on board lfo's, envelopes and effects etc. (but you''ll need Ram and a memory card to store them) Mind you, Roland have done a good job with the factory sounds.
Hey man I only owned it for about 4 months and sold it on, but I did have a MC303 and a MC307 before getting it, so I was used to roland machines. The 909 is very intuitive and does have an instant pick-up and play feel about it, so if you have a little background info on music production then you would find it quite easy to start rocking the house down.

Hey Man, Thanks for watching. With regards to the 909 I only had it for around 4 months and sold it on.
But overall Id say its a quite an intuitive bit of kit as you don't have to go trawling through hidden menus as most controls are at your finger tips. Also its quick to get something going and providing you have a little background knowledge e.g experience with music software (pattern based rhythms), or know the basics of programming synths or drums. then you shouldn't have many issues.
Hi Man, Very Nice song indeed. I also own an MC909.... so I am wondering why you sold it? Did you get something 'better' (if it exists ^^) to replace this nice piece of equipement??? Greeting from Belgium
Hey thanks for the comment, The MC-909 is a nice piece of equipment and full of features. It is just that I found out that a lot of the people who influence my music had been using/raving about the "Elektron gear". From Plastikman, John Tejada to Autechre etc. So due to owning a virus I thought that I didn't need all the synth sounds etc. from the 909. And when completing serious projects I found myself only using the drums off the 909. So I decided to buy a machinedrum to compliment the virus.
How you make the sidechain? if mc909 and machinedrum have sidechain functions, I could consider buy one of those
