Spyware and viruses are made by people for their own benefit. I dont think any programmer would be idiotic enough to make viruses for an os used by a small percentage of the computing population. They'll write one for the os with the bigger percentage. If you complain about spyware and viruses, why dont you use Linux? It is affected by less viruses than the mac
On a Windows PC, software (both good and evil) can change the system without your even knowing about it. In order for software to significantly modify Mac OS X, you have to type in your password. The reason why there are no viruses is because it's a better os only an idiot would enter in there password letting one in.
In windows, many or even most viruses need the help of the user to be able to access the computer via .exe files, suspicious websites, etc. So whether with or without the password, viruses in windows need a user to make a bad decision. Both Macs and PCs need the user's common sense to prevent a virus attack. Thus the password is not a viable excuse.
MS is doing better. I have a PC running windows XP and they gave me a program called windows defender. I'm happy to see them getting better on fighting the 120,000 viruses windows has out there. The truth is I don't dislike PCS or anything like that. I just love my macbook and apple more. It's so fast and nice. I don't have a firewall or anti virus program bugging me all the time. I dont have to spend hours running anti virus ect. Anyways have a good day man ;)
