Nanaki, why he is awesome? he represents a feline-canine, both of the most popular pets in one(stop hating), hes proud, agily and swift as a cat, caring, strong, and loyal as a dog, hes got a flaming tail, and a blind eye, hes buffs always helps the party in all ways, strong and fast the one thats always on al partys(gamers will undestand what pt i meant), he cames from a family that gave everything(lives included and their son) for the ones they love without even being from the same species
This song makes me think of my dad. He passed away a year ago. I still have the piano version of this song as his ringtone in my phone. I love you dad. Rest in peace.
@SDPaldora1 Tifa's trainer Zangan, Cid's eventual wife Shera, and as for Vincent, closest character to him is Hojo, both in terms of story and abilities. I know last 2 aren't as good but Zangan is a perfect fit for Tifa(he's the guy that taught her everything she knows and in fact left her the note for the Final Heaven).
You know, they say if only Cloud could use Soft for Seto and Pheonix Down for Aerith and Zack.
Here's the thing, they chose there fate to protect the ones they cared about the most. Bringing them back would only create more sorrow for everyone and it just wouldn't be right. I hope at least a little bit of people are with me on that!
@jakejezz14 Honestly, you can't sompare this scene with Aeris dieing. Sure, I love this scene and it's really really powerful the way the dialogue, the images and the music play it off but come on, Aeris dieing was the biggest kick in the groin the game gave us. I also thought Barrett's story was pretty sad as well, the way he lost Dan (think that's his name).
Anyways, this song is amazing and the story behind it is great :)
@PorkAndBeansAndFish You talking bout Dyne that took the backwards crossdive dive into the valley, in the desert prison? Yea that was sad with just the sound of a lonely wind to go with it. "Wow Marlenes already 4." Felt bad for Dyne immediately....FF7 was just a great game.
Hey. I am a massive fan of final fantasy, if any of you fans out there want to discuss final fantasy and its music, just visit my blog. It's for those of you out there who truly appreciate the awesomeness of final fantasy.
The reason Seto is a Great warrior in the story isn't just because he sacrificed himself to the Gi, but also because he did it for his people and his son and got labeled a coward for it. Fighting and dying and being remembered for it is one thing, but fighting and dying withotu caring that doing it will get you labeled as coward? That is true selflessness there.
@huntedhunter09 talking about the PS1 release. The PC version released in 98. But I concede my math was a little off. It released in September of 1997...so it's officially 14 years. I guess it was that damn demo's fault. It came with my Playstation.
Final Fantasy VII really is the best game I've ever played. Just listening to the music gives me shivers and goosebumps. Love Love Love Love Love Love Love forever and ever.
@DoubleDotDot oh um your welcome. And if you were emotionally attached to the game and cared for the characters then when he howls it's the final step towards making you cry.
If I ever have to face certain death, this is the song that I hope will fill my ears, and perhaps I can face it with a 10th of the bravery shown in this story.
Fuck all those haters....this a theme for a Great Warrior....ill admit it. I cried when this theme played. This touched my heart....Fuck all those haters
I'm not going to lie. This song to just anyone would not have much significance or appeal. It's very unsophisticated in consideration to the technology used to make it in comparison to today's.Having played through part of FF7 though, makes this song so much more emotional due to its context with Red and his father's story. Amazing game and I'm not even done with it.
@DeltaNovemberLima213 i loved this song before playing ff7 on my psp, which was the first time i ever played it, but i love all of the ff music from 1-13, dissidia, and crisis core too.
"The warrior who fought against the Gi. He kept them from taking one step into Cosmo Canyon. But he was never able to return to town.... Look, Nanaki. Look at your father, at the warrior, Seto..." - Bugenhagen
@saftoo71 problem isnt so much that he was turned to stone.. but also gravely wounded, hes full of arrows and shit, if they had thrown a soft on him.. he would surely have died. :(

Sigh... 2nd most favourite song of mine. and u only get to listen this hauntingly beautiful tune once in the entire game. realizing his father sacrifice himself for the tribe and yet to avoid a painful childhood for nanaki he even chose to be known as a coward in his memories. the only type of sacrifice that a father will do for his son
Another painfully tragic part of the game - it always made me sad to look at the petrified form of Nanaki's father, with Nanaki until just that moment having resented him for being a coward, when nothing was further from the truth.
I remember playing this game when I was 7 lol, I would get pissed at a boss and throw the controller on the ground:P It took me 4 years to actually beat it, with over 99 hours on my game, but i restarted a bunch of times...
I played this game growing up, as a small child of about 5 or 6, I'm now 15 and reading through these comments makes me want to play this game again and see how much I cry, because from what i've heard...I'll cry harder than I ever did
@ehill1536 It is,however considering it takes place in the same location, it isn't all that weird that it is the same song. Its change in pitch and those specific instruments played upon give it a kinda melancholic tune, which describes exactly what happens in the game story at that time.

wow so sad im usualy not the one but i couldnt help thinking bout my best friend and how much i miss her poor nanaki i know how u feel im miss u lesley!!!!
I love this soundtrack so much. Nobuo Uematsu is the reason I started writing music, I heard his music 14 years ago and haven't stopped writing since.
I don't care whether he's a red lion-creature or a human in the year 2011. Nanaki's story was about what what it means to be a father and a warrior and a good man all at the same time. It's hard and complex and painful.
It makes me think about all the boys out there who've lost their fathers in war, and how they might not understand what it was that drove them to leave their families and fight. They might think of them as cowards, but a Great Warrior fights and dies to protect what he loves.
@EntropicMisanthropic :'( man i just realized that, idk my dads a bit of a coward but did he really die for me..guess ill never know, thanks anyway though bro...
@EntropicMisanthropic :'( man i just realized that, idk my dads a bit of a coward but did he really die for me..guess ill never know, thanks anyway though bro...
I ... remember this song.. .. sorry i have.. to . . i have somthing in my eyes. water. no big deal. . man this were the days. I swear this were the days i just loved. so much so freaking much. I Just wish. God plz make time travel real. Plz
@gMemo92 i know what ya mean. Listening to some of these OSTs makes me wonder how in hell time went by so fast. I'd like to have those days back for better or worse :[
You don't find stories like this anymore. Squaresoft pulled at our heartstrings even with the minor characters. The story of Nanaki's father, and Bugenhagen's death was touching, and how Nanaki tried to deny it... This game's remarkable.
i remember playing this and getting a feeling of "warmth" wen this part came up. nanaki has to be my favorite teammate along with barrett and i will always remember this.
ohh, man! so many great memories coming to me listening to these songs again! what a bittersweet moment when Nanaki finally realizes his father didn't run away.
@trollbot9000 (insert another generic comment about a video game that can actually produce what you call generic comments like this about how great that game is, here.)
@MrLidsville cool, yeah i havent beaten this game so all i know about vincent is from dirge of cerberus and that he is a badass, in my opinion. not a big fan of yuffie though, cuz i know she steals your materia and what not. its funny because im playing this and ff viii at the same time, so i dont know which to finish first, i love ffviii combat and card game, but i love final fantasy vii story so its a tough choice for me.
for all you people who have psp's or ps3's, you know you can buy ff vii for $10. by the way, i cant wait to get to this part. i just started the game, im at fort condor. i wanted to ask if anyone can tell me when is the soonest time that i can get yuffie and vincent?
Everything about this game made it the best of all time, the music, the storyline, the gameplay, the challenges, the amount of effort you put into it made it the best game off all time.
I hope my two sons will play FFVII someday. I hope this game will make them shiver as I shivered, cry as I cried. If they have to play one video game in their life, I want it to be FFVII.

I love this soundtrack so much. Nobuo Uematsu is the reason I started writing music, I heard his music 14 years ago and haven't stopped writing since.

one of my most fav track in ff7. sweet beautiful and epic storyline
silverjonquil 6 months ago
I don't care whether he's a red lion-creature or a human in the year 2011. Nanaki's story was about what what it means to be a father and a warrior and a good man all at the same time. It's hard and complex and painful.
It makes me think about all the boys out there who've lost their fathers in war, and how they might not understand what it was that drove them to leave their families and fight. They might think of them as cowards, but a Great Warrior fights and dies to protect what he loves.

@MrLidsville cool, yeah i havent beaten this game so all i know about vincent is from dirge of cerberus and that he is a badass, in my opinion. not a big fan of yuffie though, cuz i know she steals your materia and what not. its funny because im playing this and ff viii at the same time, so i dont know which to finish first, i love ffviii combat and card game, but i love final fantasy vii story so its a tough choice for me.
huntedhunter09 7 months ago
for all you people who have psp's or ps3's, you know you can buy ff vii for $10. by the way, i cant wait to get to this part. i just started the game, im at fort condor. i wanted to ask if anyone can tell me when is the soonest time that i can get yuffie and vincent?
huntedhunter09 7 months ago
@huntedhunter09 vincent, easy, once you can enter niblheim for the first time you can get vincent

Everything about this game made it the best of all time, the music, the storyline, the gameplay, the challenges, the amount of effort you put into it made it the best game off all time.
idominatei 7 months ago
And Bugenhagen never judged Nanaki for not knowing the truth.
He just wanted to wait until the time was right to take him there.

Gives me goosebums, but not just because of the music, it's the meaning and purpose behind it.

I hope my two sons will play FFVII someday. I hope this game will make them shiver as I shivered, cry as I cried. If they have to play one video game in their life, I want it to be FFVII.
