I was doing drugs and having an affair with a lady at church and we would go everywhere this group played in texas...AND I GOT SAVED...AND I'M STILL SAVED. GOD IS AWESOME
Gary Moyers were amazing as tenor and as baritone... George Pendergrass were simply divine singing Lead... what to say about Wayburn Dean?? But Duane Adams simply doesn't has voice to sing bass... He's a great as a tenor and baritone, but he never will be a bass... JD Sumner and George Younce must be turning over in their graves when someone says Duane is a great bass...
@KwameS14 yes... by the fact that he ISN'T a bass singer... as I said in my comment, he is a great tenor and baritone, but bass he'll never be... i'm not criticizing him as singer, actually i'm his fan but i'm not surrealist...
@GunBoundKiller Yeah i agree with you that he isn't a bass singer, but you have to give him credit for how versatile his voice is and that he does well for someone who isn't a bass singer !
You don't get a lot of people who can do that and that is a God-given gift !
The first time I heard these guys was way back in Feburary of 1989. Love them since. Remember Gary Moyers from LCC. Ronnie Garcia BeaverEvanna9@yahoo.com
one of the oldest and most fav songs i kept listening to all my life!! Amazingly pretty and well done (too bad the vid sucks). I have it in the original :) my best friend gave it to me!
This is the second Acappella song I learnt. These guys are an inspiration to me wanting to serve God and give him all the praise, through singing......Would love to be as talented as they are, God's willing!
This was like the only group that i listened 2 when i was little but then our only tape broke nd our only cd got 2 scratched nd we cnt find their cds anywhere!
vocal fry is when someone puts their voice low but it is just croaking in the throat not actually being to sing in that key. Kinda like if you talk real low but it hurts your throat...it's that
I loved this line-up! Yes...regarding this song though...it was best in concert with the top three and Rodney Britt (Bass)...without a doubt...He ripped those notes like no one else! Duane Adams (Bass) was great, but he was originally a tenor singing bass for the group. He did a wonderful job doing it.
I was at the concert, and was struck by how much stronger Rodney Britt's voice was at that lower range than the ALL the other, later basses (I don't remember the song, but it had a bass lead and they all took turns singing so you could really hear them side-by-side).
Also, Tim Storms with Vocal Union went reeeaaally low later that day, but I thought I heard some vocal fry in there, which is cheating in my opinion. Gary Evans is guilty of the same thing; check out his fry in Roll Jordan Roll (also on utube)
If I recall, when he sang with them back in the day, he did some vocal fry at times for effect since there was a southern gospel emphasis in the group...Do me a favor: type in "Tim Storms Amazing Grace" and tell me if you think he's using vocal fry. He sings the lowest C on the piano at one point. I've heard Roll, Jordan and I agree although I love his low E at the end of the song!
The group's name is 'Acappella.' I believe that this was at the reunion concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma a few years ago. There is a whole world of singing groups like this that are really quite amazing. You should also check at Vocal Union, among others.

Yeah...Britt was so resonant that when I heard him live it seemed as though a mic wasn't necessary! He's surely the strongest one of them all.

He sings the lowest C on the piano at one point. I've heard Roll, Jordan and I agree although I love his low E at the end of the song!
