Since 700,000 citizens are released from prisons each year, you going to see a lot more neck tattoos. I live in S. Austin where neck tattoos are common and part of our culture. I think we should listen to more people who have tattoos and long hair because listening to the short haired, suit wearing demographic has our country in the shape it's in. EDMR remains rather controversial since there is no consensus in the mental health community. Yet, the government has paid for such treatment. At this point in time, PTSD research continues. Hopefully, it can lead to effective treatment for those affected.

Let me draw a metaphor for you. In my opinion, failure to treat PTSD might be like burying someone alive in three foot of dirt. Treating PTSD with certain substances may actually prevent the healing process. And, in some cases, psychosomatic illnesses can occur in the form of conversion disorders. For instance, a person who might have witnessed a brutal murder might develop symptoms of blindness without any physical etiology.

Yes, you can surely make comments about the subject. But, I remain unconvinced if not skeptical. Skepticism is at the heart of sound scientific research. One day, perhaps, there may be a consensus on the subject. If cannabis functions as an effective treatment for PTSD, please tell me why the symptoms tend to re-emerge in the absence of cannabis, particularly after these individuals are incarcerated. Tell me, how does cannabis affect the unconscious trauma?

And if that doesn't convince you, then why did the government concede and allow pot to be recommended to soldiers in the 15 states where medical marijuana is legal? Developed this after a car accident. Still scream in my head when people come flying up from side streets. You get used to it, but it doesn't really go away.

@lumeriam Did you know that other mental health professionals, who don't have the privilege to prescribe medication, use the DSM-IV-TR? When you obtain a license, please, let me know. There are other types of intervention that don't employ the use of medication such as abreaction, EDMR, etc. Humiliation is not a part of treatment. Competent clinicians can even isolate conscious awareness by using hypnotherapeutic methods that elicit amnesia of the session. You unconscious mind is treated.

Solider- you should go to your local VA and file a claim for ptsd(you have it) there is a ton of info on the web about veteran benefits you should look into. If this sounds like to much work b/c you have no drive hire a lawyer that specializes in veterans benefits. He will take %25 of your back pay but it will be a lot less hassle.

Have you seen the video with a SWAT-team of police officers dressed upp like militaries, breaking into a family home, shooting the family dog for barking INFRONT of the children, then arresting the parents. I was just reading a post on reddit today about a guy who left some weed in his car and he got arrested because they were doing RANDOM PARKING LOT SNIFFER DOG SWEEPS. ON A COLLEGE CAMPUS. Yes, really.

They then came to his door and told him his car had been hit, and arrested him and searched his car when he came out. Disgusting. LESSON: DONT KEEP WEED IN YOUR CAR!!

Its very difficult for me to see police as good when they are blatantly causing more harm than good.  Police should look like fireman and arrive to investigate crimes instead of looking like military and bringing charges against us with no victim. Until that changes, I don't see any American kops as good and you shouldn't either. We can police ourselves much better than police of this country who commit violent crime at a higher rate than citizens.

Just finished a 4 year stint volunteering to run the children's play area for weekly farmers market in my small village outside Chapel Hill, NC. With 300 kids each Saturday, safety was a big concern. Our market served beer and wine, provided live music and had about 1500 folks sitting for 4 hours into the evening each summer, leaving after dark. Apparent risk. Reality: we handled every issue ourselves, peer to peer, as a community.

Police are trained to use Tazers as a Use Of Force that is below actual physical contact. In other words, according to police, using a Tazer is less use of force than grabbing a suspect or wresting with a suspect. Police are trained to taze before touching. Their reasoning? If they grab you, a struggle can ensue and you can take their gun and kill them so tazing is better. It's ridiculous and compassion-less logic, but what can you expect from reptiles?
