I just saw it last week - its awesomeness is on par with Donnie Darko... very surreal and existentialist, and like Donnie Darko, doesn't make much sense until at least the 2nd or 3rd watch-through. Definitely a classic.

I just started making AMV's, and I'm using Youtube to get responses and Comments on what I can do to get better. Stop making them, well when I say making them I say it in the loosest terms. I mean simply splicing work together that is not yours and the claiming cudos, cheap and easy to do, and is an insult to all involved, if you want to do this kind of thing join all your friends who put clips over Naruto, the net is full of them. Your response also says alot about you.

This just killed what is some of the best Music in Anime with this pap soundtrack. Susumu Hirasawa created a bouncy uplifting and wonderfull soundtrack, and it gets replaced with this slow unimaganative song. I wish this fad of adding music to films would stop, its terrible.

Why did you watch it then, you knew it was a fan video. What use is there in making a fan video with music from the show, that makes no sense. His music is amazing I agree, it's on my mp3 player, so don't act like I don't appreciate it. But the movie does have a darker under tone, don't deny that.

i will say this was a bit different from kon's work, Too convoluted and sketchy on the plot, I couldn't tell what was what sometimes. It was a good idea, but poorly executed, which is a shock for a Kon film. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't up to his standards either.

I actually agree. Perfect Blue is still My fav of his, with Millennium Actress a close second. Paprika was visually satisfying.

But then again, the convoluted plot might be intentional on Kon's part, with the whole "dreams" theme - dreams aren't generally supposed to even make sense. It succeeded in conveying what dreams feel like on screen, and that's the biggest success. (Don't forget about Tokyo Godfathers, oy?)
