  • What is the origin of the marching? Why do they do it like that?

  • @letitiakra

Like most styles of marching this derived from the martial arts. Steps (the german goose-step/Stechschritt as well) are exercised in a way, that assures the full bodyweight on the standing/rear-leg. The other leg must be able to kick or `feel´ for any incoming force. I think the greek method is the most elaborated way of doing so.

  • Which one are you? And what is that guy in fatigues doing at the beginning? Sorry, but it is kind of amusing. Your leg muscles must be really strong by now. It's actually pretty awesome to think it's you up there! But I don't like to think of you there if there are any riots. Take care. When do you get to go home?

  • @montandon1

Yep, it took years of training to learn to walk like that ... I do get strange looks in the supermarket though :)

The 'strange' guy in fatigues was prob the troop leader or something. He couldn't wait to get in the picture when he realised I was video-ing it. I bet the guards hate him lol

  • They don't do it like that in Camberwick Green, that's for certain......
